SMALL TOWN LIVING IN VELVA ND 58790
Living in Boomtown isn't for everyone. Everything, or should I say every town, West of Minot ND is Boomtown. That would even include a few, 5 or 10, miles to the East of Minot. In an impossible efort to keep up on what's new in the Minot area I took a road trip East of Minot on Hiway 52. This had always been an area very slow to develop, only old timers had heard of "Valley Vegitable", a mom & pop vegitable stand 5 miles or so East of Minot.
Well even though I … (4 comments)

WHO LET THE DOGS OUT?
Prairie Dogs That Is!

When this spring arrived, my first spring in this office location, I thought it was cool to see a gopher/prairie dog. It was a sure sign of spring. They are so cute and they just play so much it's got to make you happy. They also whistle. Problem is... they dig, and dig, and dig. They also breed faster then rabbits. The office yard now has a zillion holes in it, makes mowing a bumby ride.
What to do? The neighboring office (people I like) have a Scottie named Lilly and … (10 comments)

WE ARE NUMBER TWO! WOO HOO!
OK, so most people do not bragg about being #2 (not like Avis did years ago) but we are pretty proud of it here in ND these days... especially Western North Dakota.
Most of my posts over the last 3 years have been related to either our flooding in the Mouse River Valley or the Oil Boom in Western North Dakota. This post is Oil related. I capitalize Oil because man-o-man Oil is bringing in the Capital.
I've post many pleas for contractors to get their idle crews off their rear ends and out here … (3 comments)

nd: Pioneers, There Was One in Your Family. - 01/14/10 04:12 PM
This post is speaking to all Americans with the possible exception of a few Native Americans. In each of our families there is someone who made a great sacrifice and moved a long distance in an effort to provide YOU (his/her descendants) a better life. They came from all over the world to escape oppressive governments. They came to practice freedom of religion. They came to escape poverty and find financial freedom.
In your family you may not have to trace your genealogy all the way back to the Mayflower to find a daring family member. Maybe it was your mom … (6 comments)

nd: FIGHTING SIOUX, Political Correctness Defeats a Proud Warrior! - 05/15/09 09:55 AM

It's a sad day here in North Dakota. Our most noted Proud Warrior has had his butt kicked by the whiny wimps of political correctness. Since his birth in the 1930's all of North Dakota (and Minnesota communities near Grand Forks ND) have cheered on this distinguished warrior. For 60 years thousands of North Dakota kids hoped to be on his team.
Yesterday the spineless wimps of political correctness on the North Dakota Board of Education decided that this proud warrior had to die. Years of tradition died. A wonderful opportunity to explain to our children who this people, the Sioux, are … (9 comments)

nd: The Two Seasons in Minot ND - 03/17/09 01:55 PM
Here is a "Heads-Up" to all the Southerners coming to our community to serve on the Minot Air Force Base or out in the Oil Field. North Dakota has been known as the land of 2 seasons.... Winter and Road Construction.

Keep in mind that unlike our Southern States we can only maintain our roads when they are not snow covered. I'm posting this now because it's only been in the last week that we are seeing the actual surface of many of our streets here in Minot. So far what I'm seeing is not pretty. For the last 4 years … (0 comments)

nd: ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS 9 MORE INCHES! - 01/12/09 11:20 AM

Two weeks ago I blogged that we had set an all time snowfall record for a year, EVER! Well it just keeps coming. I had really hoped to post several blogs about our community over the Holidays but frankly I've been doing a lot of bonding with my snow thrower. As you can see from the pictures above I've got plenty to do in my yard.. BUT what you don't see is that I also run over to my mother-in-laws and do hers and then I have a listing (or two) by elderly clients that I head over to … (8 comments)

nd: BLIZZARD! - 12/14/08 08:07 PM
12/14/2008 We are experiencing our first "real" blizzard of the season. In fact this is the first blizzard I remember for awhile. It's not the snowiest storm I remember, in fact it was a bit wimpy when it comes to depth of snowfall. It has been one of the windiest winter storms but most important it is very likely the coldest storm I remember. Cold and windy make a very nasty mix. I was out a couple of times to shovel (use the snow-blower) but I didn't really "experience" the cold until I took my gloves off to take pictures. I … (1 comments)

nd: An Excellent Convention - 09/18/08 08:20 PM
We just completed the 2nd day of our 2008 Realtor Convention of the Dakotas. Even though it's not over yet I have to give a "Hat's Off" to Scott Louser as program Chair and all the folks that helped him pull this off. Normally I'm the last one to look forward to CE (more precisely sitting on my butt for 3 hours at a time) but our speakers have been excellent. I will admit that the spiel on ID theft was a bit dry but it was very informative (scary) and I like the two credits. David Knox was a riot as well … (0 comments)

nd: FREE SEO, A correction/update to yesterdays post. - 06/26/08 09:29 AM
Yesterday I made a post titled DO IT YOURSELF SEO (Search Engine Optimization) . It did not include instructions and the first site listed has changed it's agenda. I have corrected all this and now I think you will find it much more useful. I will continue to add to that post so if you are interested in SEO please check yesterdays post occasionally for updates.
Thanks, Bob.

nd: Printer Blues - 06/17/08 07:52 AM
Once again I have the printer blues. As a tech geek I have owned just about every brand and kind of printer made. I still miss the always reliable ribbon printers where a new ribbon cost a fraction of the cost of the printer. Now if you need either ink or toner it's about the same cost to buy a printer as a ink or toner cartridge. One of my hobbies is photography and I prefer ink over toner. In photography for the most part I use a little HP printer made just to publish 4X6 family portraits.
My blues this time around … (6 comments)
