real estate: WHO LET THE DOGS OUT? - 05/23/12 07:58 AM
WHO LET THE DOGS OUT? Prairie Dogs That Is! When this spring arrived, my first spring in this office location, I thought it was cool to see a gopher/prairie dog. It was a sure sign of spring. They are so cute and they just play so much it's got to make you happy. They also whistle. Problem is... they dig, and dig, and dig. They also breed faster then rabbits. The office yard now has a zillion holes in it, makes mowing a bumby ride. What to do? The neighboring office (people I like) have a Scottie named Lilly and

real estate: WE ARE NUMBER TWO! WOO HOO! - 05/21/12 12:57 PM
WE ARE NUMBER TWO! WOO HOO! OK, so most people do not bragg about being #2 (not like Avis did years ago) but we are pretty proud of it here in ND these days... especially Western North Dakota. Most of my posts over the last 3 years have been related to either our flooding in the Mouse River Valley or the Oil Boom in Western North Dakota. This post is Oil related. I capitalize Oil because man-o-man Oil is bringing in the Capital. I've post many pleas for contractors to get their idle crews off their rear ends and out here

real estate: SUN DOGS, You Really Don't Want To See Them. - 01/18/12 11:31 AM
SUN DOGS, You Really Don't Want To See Them. These are "Sun Dogs" and you really don't want to see them (in person). What you have here is two pictures with a "sun Dog" on each side of the sun. If I had a panoramic camera we could eliminate one of the suns in the middle. The Sun Dogs almost form a rainbow around the sun. The key to Sun Dogs is that it needs to be below 0 degrees outside or colder. The colder it is outside the more spectacular the Sun Dogs. When I woke up today

real estate: OFFICE SWEET OFFICE... There is no place like office. - 01/03/12 08:49 PM
OFFICE SWEET OFFICE THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE OFFICE Office Sweet Office. It's small, it's ugly, but it's mine. After a summer of conducting business out of my mother-in-laws basement, Starbucks, and the public library, I finally have an office to call home office. With all the positives it's easy for me to overlook the ugly color of the building (which I will repaint this spring) and the fact that the interior needs a little spritzing up. The next big step is to get that secretary I've talked about for 2 or 3 years. I hired one and she quit

real estate: Oh Yea, Then There's THAT! - 12/31/11 10:45 PM
Oh Yea, Then There's THAT! INK In setting up my new office I decided to add ink-jet printers to each desk in addition to the networked color laser copier/printer. I like having a printer on my desk so if I'm printing something personal, like a receipt from eBay, no one else has to see it plus sometimes I just don't want to leave my work area when I'm immersed in my work. The one thing I did remembered about ink-jet printers was that ink is just about as expense as gold. I also remembered that I used to purchase ink cartridges

real estate: CHRISTMAS... Thank God for the Commercialization! - 12/25/11 12:52 PM
CHRISTMAS... Thank God for the Commercialization! Speaking as a dedicated Christian, follower of the Savior of the world Christ Jesus, I am so happy that Christmas has become extreamly commercialized. In the USA nearly 90% of our citizens profess a Christian faith, I'm guessing that like myself you are among those 90%. I would also guess that if you ask those who do not know Christ in the USA what are the two biggest holidays you would overwhelming hear Christmas and Easter. Many people think that Christmas has been taken over by Satan masquerading as Santa Claus and that retail has totally corrupted the meaning

real estate: The NEW (1996) RealMan Mobile. - 11/24/11 10:41 PM
The NEW (1996) RealMan Mobile. With the demise of the Kia and the sale of my Dodge Grand Caravan I absolutely had to start the search for a new "RealMan" mobile. I don't believe I mentioned the sale of the Caravan previously but the Caravan was the most recent bearer of the "RealMan" license plates and wore them proudly for 3 years. So many things started to fail on the Caravan that when I thought I should buy new tires I felt it was just plain "totaled out". I love driving the Kia but even I can not imagine asking a client

real estate: Winter Is Here, Crash Boom Bang! - 11/16/11 02:27 PM
Winter Is Here, Crash Boom Bang! Yesterday we got our first taste of Winter. An unpredicted 6" of snow came roaring in with strong winds. I think the winds were predicted but no one predicted the snow. Having a large Air Force Base here we are used to our share of accidents with the first snowfall. For many of the fine men and women on the base it's the first time they have seen snow. Well it's compounded this year with our oil boom and a whole lot more drivers who have never seen or driven in snow before. The

real estate: Who Says An Old Dog Can't Teach YOU New Tricks??? - 11/06/11 06:59 PM
Who Says An Old Dog Can't Teach YOU New Tricks??? Jack is a 12 year old mutt. He loves to fetch but we've never known him to actually catch a ball. Even at the age of 12 he will run after a ball much longer then your arm will hold out throwing the ball. Jack has never done steps. He will run up them (in shear terror) if he has to but forget him ever going down steps on his own. So what will he do if he is in the mood to play fetch and no one is paying

real estate: HURTING CONTRACTORS NEED TO HEAD TO MINOT ND - 10/29/11 09:05 AM
HURTING CONTRACTORS NEED TO HEAD TO MINOT ND It's been a while since I sent out a plea for contractors to come to Minot if they want business. Business that they can charge full price for, rebuild their companies and retain their good workers. Minot and Western North Dakota is, and will remain, America's major boom area for a minimum of 5 years and more likely for 20 years. In the last week it has been re-affirmed that Western North Dakota is sitting on more recoverable oil then Saudi Arabia. WAY more! For several years now I've been posting about our

real estate: AMAZING ART by The World's Greatest Artist! - 10/26/11 07:52 PM
AMAZING ART by The World's Greatest Artist! Any one who has or had vision has viewed this artists work at some time or another. He has worked with every form or art known to man and most likely some art we are not even aware of. I'd like to say that my favorite works are his visual presentations but when I think of his musical skills and culinary skills it's really hard to pick my favorite. This post is about a very recent work, finished sometime last night or very early this morning. This beautiful piece was created under his

real estate: Thankful Thursday, "It's Not Cancer" - 10/20/11 10:36 AM
Thankful Thursday, "It's Not Cancer" I'm a guy who is very much aware of cancer and always concerned as to if it has crept into my personal life. Cancer does run in both sides of my parents families and my Dad died of cancer so when I felt a lump in my chest (and it was sore) I didn't waste any time in having it checked out. As one who has chosen not to participate in a health care program I always think twice about going in and usually give the symptom a week to see if it will disappear

real estate: Minot's Old Walking Bridge - 05/19/11 08:30 PM
Minot's Old Walking Bridge I have lived in Minot for over 8 years now and it was not until earlier this spring that I decided to actually set foot on the big old walking bridge that crosses the Burlington Northern rail yard tracks in the center of Minot North Dakota. For eight years I had driven by this bridge, wondering if the old humongous wooden structure would be there for ever or torn down the next day. I decided it was time to check it out. Of course I brought the whole family, didn't want to die alone. Much to our

real estate: Creative Beginnings Daycare Center, Minot North Dakota - 08/12/09 11:04 AM
Creative Beginnings Daycare Center, Minot North Dakota has been a God send for our family. Daycare Availability In Minot North Dakota is a challange to say the least. For those of you who read this blog on a regular basis you are aware that Minot North Dakota has been experiencing a housing boom over the last two years due to our Air Force Base expansion and an Oil Boom with the biggest oil find in North American history. Creative Beginnings Daycare lovingly cares for children from 6 weeks of age to 10 years old. There philosophy is: Creative Beginnings Daycare will seek to

real estate: Minot's New Neighbors, A Business That Says WELCOME TO MINOT ND! - 07/31/09 03:38 PM
WELCOME TO MINOT ND! When I first moved to Minot North Dakota I was really looking forward to a house call from Welcome Wagon. Now that may seem strange for a guy but you see my mom was the Welcome Wagon hostess for Fargo ND and I was fascinated with what she did. Well I soon found out that there would be no welcome to Minot ND from Welcome Wagon as there wasn't one in town. In Truth there was one and two competitors but all went out of business with certain privacy laws. I checked into it further and what

real estate: Not All Water Is Frozen In North Dakota - 09/27/08 09:53 PM
Yes it gets cold up here but for heavens sake it's not cold year around. I'm sure no matter where you live you get some pretty crazy questions. Most often I'm asked if it ever warms up in North Dakota. The answer is of course, YES! Our springs are a little slow to come around, like late April to early May. My birthday is in mid May and it is highly unusual for things NOT to be budding and turning green. One big plus with our late spring is we hardly ever see any misquetoes until late June or July. As

real estate: Down and Dirty! - 09/20/08 08:26 AM
Every website, every blog, and every agent out there is going to tell you how wonderful they are and ask you to "consider" them. I want you to "consider" this: If you want to list a house make sure you have made up your mind as to if you want to sell or if you want to stay. If you are looking for a home make sure you have made the decision to buy. I know my time is valuable and so is the time of my clients. If you want to sell your house and you want to

real estate: YIKES VIKES! - 09/09/08 07:56 PM
I'm embarrassed to say I'm a Minnesota boy. Last night was the last straw. I'm going to start claiming Arizona as my State of preference. Many of you reading this know I live in North Dakota (Minot to be exact) but I was born and raised in Minnesota. So whats the fuss about? I've been a Vikings fan for more years then I care to acknowledge but NO MORE! I am sick and tired of the team with all the potential and talent that always leaves me cursing. Even if I don't choose a new team I will need to get

real estate: The Arts In Minot ND - 09/01/08 06:30 PM
My mother gave me a great appreciation for the Fine Arts. She, Sofia, was very active in Fargo and she was the President and Manager of The Fargo Fine Arts Club House. Her love for the Arts gave all us "kids" the same appreciation she had. Although my oldest brother is a physiologist he is a very talented artist with a canvas and has had excellent success of late selling his work. My other brother is very gifted at creating jewelry. I and my sister are a little lacking but we both love the theater and more. As small as Minot
