Green Oak Township is located in the SE corner of Livingston County.  It starts right at the county line and portions of the Whitmore Lake, South Lyon and Brighton School Districts fall within its boundaries.  Zip codes that serve the township are Brighton (48116), Whitmore Lake (48189) and South Lyon (48178).  It has seen some large commercial developments along the US-23 at Lee Rd in recent years. I think it also leads the county in number of traffic roundabouts installed, with three at the Lee Rd/US-23 exchange.

recreation: Michigan DNR Adds 114 Acres To Oak Grove State Game Area - 10/15/07 06:52 AM
The State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is proceeding with the acquisition of 114 acres of land near the Oak Grove State Game Area.  The property has been valued at $969,000 and the purchase language specifies that the land can only be sold back to the current owner's family.
This purchase will be financed by selling a portion of the Proud Lake Recreation Area in Oakland County and then using those proceeds to finance the Livingston County purchase.

Livingston County has a number of mazes for fall family fun.  So what's a corn maze?  Farmers reserve a field of corn and carve out trails, often forming intricate patterns that display a picture when seen from the air. 
Two of the best know mazes in the County are the Grand River Corn Maze, located on Grand River Avenue near Owosso Rd. east of Fowlerville, and the Spicer Orchards maze found near the intersection of Clyde Rd and US-23.
