market: Confidence in Economy and Home Values Increasing - 05/15/12 09:08 AM
Both the expectation for home prices and the percentage of those who think the U.S. economy is on the right path reached record highs in Fannie Mae’s April 2012 National Housing Survey. Americans continue to expect home prices to go up, with the projection averaging 1.3 percent over the next 12 months, the highest value recorded. At 71 percent, a high percentage of Americans still say it is a good time to buy while the percentage who said it is a good time to sell was 15 percent, a 1 point increase from March. “Overall, consumer views of housing market conditions have become

market: Wishing the short sale process was faster and that less foreclosures occurred? Hope this proposed bill passes! - 02/23/12 08:52 AM
To avoid losing homes to foreclosure due to long response times for short sale transactions, three senators introduced legislation to speed up the short sale process. Senators Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Scott Brown (R-Massachusetts), and Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) proposed the bill addressing the issue of short sales timelines on February 17. A short sale is a real estate transaction where the homeowner sells the property for less than the unpaid balance with the lender’s approval. “There are neighborhoods across the country full of empty homes and underwater owners that have legitimate offers, but unresponsive banks,” said Murkowski. “What we have here

market: To Pin or not to Pin - Have you joined Pinterest yet? - 02/21/12 08:45 AM
How many of you Realtors have a Pinterest account you actively use for marketing? We at Team Carlos have been contemplating on whether or not there would be any advantages to becoming a "Pinner" of things dealing with Real Estate. To my knowledge, this is a simple website that allows you to find neat images and "pin" them to a board you create. A lot of people have recipe boards and save delicious recipes there so they may later go back and take a peak at a fun new recipe to try! Pinterest in my eyes seems to be more

market: Housing May Turn the Corner in 2012: CoreLogic - 01/26/12 01:01 PM
CoreLogic’s chief economist Mark Fleming says housing statistics and the duration of the downturn to date indicate 2012 may be the year the housing market begins to turn the corner. In the first release of CoreLogic’s new MarketPulse newsletter Wednesday, Fleming explained his rationale for such an assessment. He notes that housing is an industry with long business cycles. Regional housing recessions have typically taken anywhere from three to five years to find their bottom, and Fleming says the national housing recession has behaved similarly in that it has bounced along a bottom for the past two years. Fleming points out that housing

market: Social Media tips! - 01/24/12 11:42 AM
2011 was a big year for social media. The “Big Three,” Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn got bigger. Hundreds, maybe thousands of other social networks flourished. One would be hard-pressed to make the case that social media is still just a fad. Instead, it’s become clear social media is here to stay. It has fundamentally changed the way we do business and the way we document our everyday lives. One in every nine people on Earth are on Facebook and people spend over 700 billion minutes a month sharing photos and status updates. As 2011 comes to a close, I thought I’d

Monday, December 5th, 2011, 11:34 am Barclays Capital (BCS: 11.28 -6.23%) analyst Stephen Kim predicts a housing recovery buoyed by improving jobs numbers and the fact prices for nondistressed homes will have stabilized without government support.
