It is Halloween night and time for the undead to come back - 10/31/11 08:17 PM

As Halloween eve fast approaches here on the West Coast, the undead are still sealed in their tombs, but once the sun goes down there is no promises to what can happen. So, please be careful out there as you never know when a zombie may try to walk in front of your car.
But, especially careful in dark parking lots, the Zombie Apocalypse is upon us and they are looking to eat your BRAINS! (Underwriters, no need to be worried here, the zombies won't be coming after you!)

Finding the right words - 10/31/11 10:50 AM

Every day we wake up we run in to a situation where if we have the right words at the right time it can mean all the difference in the world. How often has a misunderstanding all started because we chose the wrong words or the love of our life because the words we chose? Chose your carefully today as it may make someone else’s day.

Today is the day for forgiveness, so don’t hold a grudge - 10/31/11 12:38 AM

I loved this quote as so many people do hold grudges and because of that they can’t get on with their lives and it actually holds them back. Forgive those who you hold a grudge against, because I’ll make best they have long forgotten why you are holding the grudge!
Have a blessed Sunday everyone!

Follow the sun - 10/29/11 10:54 AM

There is a beauty in the sky everyday whether it is cloudy or not. If you live your life like a flower and choose to be happy no matter what is going on around you, you will live a longer life and be someone others want to be around you.
Be that person, starting today!

Life on the farm - 10/28/11 02:29 PM

As agents are we a lot like a farmer? Life is simple, we plant our seed, we watch it grow, but isn’t that the easy part of farming? Reaping what we sow is really the hard part. So go plant your seeds, but don’t forget to reap what you have sowed this spring and now that your hard work will pay off at the closing table.

Friendship is sometimes found in unusual places - 10/27/11 10:58 AM

One thing I love about Activerain is all the true friendships I have made here in the rain. When I started with blogging, I thought I would meet clients, but never friends. Though many of us have grown in different ways online, we haven’t grown apart and I am grateful for those people that have come in to my life thanks to the internet and Activerain.

The Grand Army of the Republic: Another person from history right here in Oregon - 10/26/11 07:55 PM
Over the past couple weeks thanks to Halloween we have been doing some searches of our local cemeteries and have been finding some interesting things about Oregon history and the people who helped make Oregon, Oregon!
Today we visited a cemetery dedicated to only members of the Grand Army of the Republic right here in Portland. Now, among the great people buried there was Salmon Brown. Now, you may not recognize the name Salmon Brown, but he did have a very important part in our history.
You see he was one of the men who captured John Wilkes Booth after he … (8 comments)

Follow the path - 10/26/11 10:15 AM

If you follow a path, it will take you to its objective. If you want to do something great, you may need to follow a different path that is less taken or maybe even possibly make your own path! I know today my goal is to take a path that hasn’t been taken, but I know where it will take me. Where is your path taking you?

Gladstone Real Estate: Parks make a community! - 10/25/11 05:43 PM
Gladstone Real Estate: Parks make a community! What makes me say that? One thing I love about Oregon and Gladstone is no exception is that we have lots of parks though out the community. When you go to these parks with your family it truly is a bonding experience.
You see when you walk, play or even have a picnic in these parks with your family you are together, you get a chance to talk and get to know what is going on in each other’s lives without the distraction of TV, games or computers.

Reflections - 10/25/11 10:19 AM

Reflecting on one’s life is something that we all do from time to time, but don't let it control your life. Look to the future and know that it will be bright. Only look to the past as a reference point and don't make the same mistakes twice.
Make it a great day!

Waking up with no regrets - 10/24/11 12:45 PM

Over the past couple months, I’ve been looking at who I have in my life and realized there were just some people that were actually holding me back. Falling in love with fall - 10/24/11 01:12 AM
I love fall, the colors are amazing and as a armature photographer it gives me great opportunities to get some beautiful shots. But, kids, oh, the kids love fall for a completely different reason! As you can see even a leaf pile can be a place to play when you are a kid.
Now, if you have kids, there is a safety tip for them though. Make sure any pile they play in is located in your yard and not in the streets. If they play in piles in the street it is to easy for them to get hit by … (21 comments)

The 2011 World Series: A chance to bond with my little Cardinal - 10/23/11 09:25 PM

As I write this between innings of the 4th game of the World Series 2011, I realize how nice it is to have something to bond over with my son. If you haven’t figured it out already, I’m a big baseball fan. It is a team sport that unlike any other sport if you aren’t playing together as a team, you just can’t win.
So, here I am cheering on the Cardinals with my son, though they are losing at this point, together we know they can come back and win. They do have the hitting in them as they … (6 comments)

Lake Oswego Real Estate: Hide and Seek is easy when you have trees this old - 10/23/11 04:07 PM
Lake Oswego Real Estate: Hide and Seek is easy when you have trees this old. While out and about this weekend my kids managed to find a place where they thought they should bring their friends for a great game of hide and seek.
They figured when you have a tree that is big enough that you can actually hide under its roots, that this is the place for them! I do have to admit, I could see them until they popped their head out from under the tree.
If you are interested in buying a home in Lake Oswego, give … (5 comments)

The Woodmen of the World: Helping their members be remembered - 10/23/11 01:49 AM
When I first ran across this amazing tombstone while visiting a local graveyard, I was amazed by this headstones detail and wanted to know more. But, when I saw a second, a third and a fourth that were very similar, I knew there was a story to uncover.
In 1890 there was a gentleman named Joseph Root who started a fraternal organization that would soon start offering life insurance and securities. Mr. Root also believed in giving back to the members by having the members of the local lodges doing volunteer services for those in need in the community.
Now, the … (9 comments)

Clackamas County Real Estate History: What was once first is now lost to time - 10/22/11 01:51 AM
Clackamas County Real Estate History: What was once first is now lost to time. The picture below is a picture of a long abandoned railroad bridge, but what is significant about the bridge is that it was a race to finish it.
Back in the early days of the railroad there were two competing railroads and unlike today’s government where they pay people to create things like this, our government did something that was genius! They took the two railroads and pitted them against each other. One wanted to build a track on the Eastside of the Willamette River and the … (6 comments)

Clackamas County Real Estate: There is a new sheriff in town or so we thought! - 10/20/11 01:01 PM
Clackamas County Real Estate: There is a new sheriff in town or so we thought! While out Geocaching with the family near local cemeteries we came across what we thought was an old west sheriff. This person had this badge above their tombstone, but upon further investigation we found out that our resident who was born in 1842 wasn’t a sheriff at all.
You see we wanted to investigate this badge since this was the first time I had ever seen this badge placed like this. We were hoping upon investigating our mysterious resident that we were going to find some … (9 comments)

Clackamas County Real Estate: Exploring Clackamas history - 10/19/11 04:59 PM
One thing I love about being in Real Estate and exploring Clackamas County is with every new location, you find out a little piece of history about that community. With it being Halloween time, my family decided to go to some Clackamas County cemeteries.

The main reason we decided to go to the Clackamas County cemeteries is because of the history of Clackamas County. You see Oregon City is what many consider to be the end of the Oregon Trail and with that we set off on our adventure.
Today we came to the Clackamas Cemetery where came across some … (7 comments)

You see many cachers will hide caches in places that you may have never known about if you hadn’t blindly followed your GPS to these odd trails that you didn’t know about.
That was the case for us today as we found a trail close to my parents house that I had no idea was there, but as we parked there was a trail head. So, as we walked the trail and came closer and closer … (11 comments)

Beaverton Oregon Real Estate: What’s in a name? - 10/13/11 12:00 PM
Beaverton Oregon Real Estate: What’s in a name? Oregon has many names both remembered day in and day out and others that have been lost to time for whatever reason. One of the ways I like to get back in touch with Beaverton history is to visit local cemeteries and check out the names. Often you can tell who the prominent families are by either large family plots or the large grave markers. If a person had a big marker, it usually meant their family had money.

But, what happened to some of these names, what happened to the … (14 comments)

I open my heart to you - 10/12/11 01:15 PM

Often we run in to people who are closed hearted and minded and they bring great sadness in to our lives. When that happens in my life I choose to not be associated with those people and quickly get them out of my life and get back to associating myself with people that bring joy and happiness to my heart and mind. When I saw this flower, it was like those people, it seemed to have its heart open to me and brought a smile to my face as I hope it does yours as well.

Things are looking Grimm in Portland - 10/11/11 11:41 AM
Over the past couple months I’ve been seeing more and more signs and not knowing what they meant until today. Seems things have been getting Grimm all over Portland and when I mean Grimm, I mean the brothers Grimm.
NBC has been filming a new show called Grimm. The basis of the show is that the stories of the Brothers Grimm were true and the last of the Grimm family can see what others can’t. Murders are happening all around us and the only one that can stop them is the last of the Grimm Family.

Controlling your destination - 10/06/11 11:50 AM

One thing life has taught me is that you choose your destination. This picture where this little girl was telling the ocean in no uncertain terms that she couldn’t be gotten!
