activerain ambassador: Are you willing to help those new to real estate? - 10/03/11 12:40 AM
Are you willing to help those new to real estate? Are you willing to mentor those who want to become the best they can be? Personally I love doing it, I love teaching others. Maybe it comes from growing up around teachers, but I truly do love it.
One of the things I love about it is that it keeps me up on my game and keeps me strong with the fundamentals of the business. Sometimes when I have been going awhile without a mentoring someone, I get lax, I forget about what has gotten me where I am today and … (17 comments)

activerain ambassador: Is there a way to get more people who sign up on Activerain to write that first post? - 02/02/11 07:51 PM

In my 22 in 22 challenge to myself I have discovered a disturbing trend. Out of 120 people or more that sign up only about 10, if that, ever write their first post and of those who do write that first post, maybe only 2 or 3, are around a week later.
WHY IS THIS?
Is it too intimidating? Is it they learned about it at their brokerage weekly class and the teacher just told them to sign up and not how to use it? You could give me a sewing machine, but without showing me how to use it, … (19 comments)

activerain ambassador: I may have forgotten what it is to be an Ambassador - 01/31/11 12:14 PM
Though I have taken many calls and never turn anyone down when they ask for help, I seem to have forgotten that as an Ambassador, I should be reaching out to newbies and not waiting for them to find me.
I started a group in 2008 called “22 comments in 22 days” and that group was set up to find people that I hadn’t met or commented on before and hopefully reached out to the newbies and make Activerain a better place.

Well, I did it and I remember how hard it was because not only did I have to … (24 comments)

activerain ambassador: Just another reason to share your knowledge… Another secret to getting more business - 05/28/10 01:35 PM
People wonder why I so freely share my knowledge with others when it comes to real estate and blogging. Well first of all, it is far from free! I get paid by many of my students to coach them one on one. But, I do teach lots of classes to large groups for free, but I promise I get something from those groups as well.

You see over the past 2 years of teaching Activerain, I’ve lost count of how many out of area referrals I have gotten. You see most of the classes I’ve taught have been outside my … (17 comments)

activerain ambassador: How are you reaching out for more business? - 10/11/09 12:40 PM

On Friday, I decided that even though I have over 2000 blog posts all working for me on Google, that there had to be a way to do more. How can I make Google love my blogs even more and also build business?

So, after 2000 posts without any help from anyone else, I reached out to a couple mortgage professionals and I will be reaching out to a few more here in the next couple days. I've asked them to be contributors to my outside blogs. Not with technical stuff, but just stuff about the community that I … (64 comments)

activerain ambassador: Ask for help now, not when it is too late! - 08/03/09 02:25 PM

I love real estate. I love teaching and I love social media, but often when I’m asked how to use it, it is because someone is about to leave the business and they are really too late to the game and just scratching and clawing for a way to stay.

Why not ask before that point? Many people are volunteering to help. Check out the Activerain Ambassadors, these are people that want to give back to the community, but only can help those who want to be helped.

Last week I was helping with a class put on … (13 comments)

activerain ambassador: My first official class as an Activerain Ambassador is being taught today (Thank you Activerain) - 07/21/09 11:17 AM

Last week I wrote and article about being an Activerain Ambassador and how honored I was to have been chosen and today here I am preparing to teach a class on Activerain and social media at a local mortgage company to six mortgage bankers.
Now, I’ve done this before, but this was as a direct result of the Activerain Ambassador program and I have to say I’m pretty excited. Now, you’re asking, “What is in it for you Todd?”
Well, let me tell you! The biggest thing in it for me is that I’m meeting five new mortgage brokers in … (14 comments)

activerain ambassador: Helping our community become even better – The Activerain Ambassador Program - 07/14/09 11:04 AM

Last week another member of the rain shot me an email and when I read it I felt honored. This person was asking me to go to check a post by Brad Andersohn, saying they were looking for people to join the Activerain Ambassadors program. They said, “Todd, I can’t think of another person that would make a better ambassador than you. Heck, you were doing this before they even had a name for it. I don’t think I would still be here
if it wasn’t for your help. So, please check it out.”
I was a little … (13 comments)
