activerain success story: I was called by someone today from Tom Ferry’s office asking me what is it that kept me blogging day in and day out? - 04/25/10 02:48 AM

Now normally getting the question what keeps me going on Activerain from one of my students or someone new to Activearain it is easy to tell them that it is all about business and networking. But, for some reason when it was someone such as this, I just knew I had to come up with a deeper answer than “Because it makes me a lot of money!”
So, while on the phone with this gentleman I was thinking why do I do this, why do I spend an hour a day on a site with thousands and thousands of other … (37 comments)

activerain success story: I’ve taught my kids to enjoy reading while learning to enjoy reading and writing myself - 06/22/09 01:05 PM

For as long as I can remember I have been reading to my kids as they go to bed. But what amazed some is I went out of town for the first time in their life a couple years ago so I could get my GRI. I left all the parties to go read to my kids over the phone. (This amazed some of the other agents I was staying with.)

Now, my kids are already planning to read to their kids as they get older and they all enjoy reading. I’ve basically given them the gift of fantasy … (16 comments)

activerain success story: Well, that wasn’t the results I was expecting! - 04/05/09 07:31 PM

On Friday evening I wrote a post, “Why and how I think the $8,000 tax credit could be better spent”. This post came about because of a footer that I was putting on a post that I put up tonight called, “Beaverton First Time Home Buyers can realize a $8,000 tax credit if they buy before December 1, 2009”

Now, when I wrote that, I certainly didn’t expect to get it featured. It was just my opinion that I wanted to put as a footer… that turned into a post of all its own by the time I … (89 comments)

activerain success story: The power of Activerain – Inspiration starts at the top - 02/22/09 12:49 PM
As many of you know, I’m a big fan of Activerain. Heck, I seem to become a bigger fan everyday! And, you also know that I’m very transparent in my posts about life, real estate and even where I plan to hang my license.
Many of you know the story of me choosing a new brokerage. (I still haven’t switched yet, but working on it.) I chose a company that would let me be me. It would still give me the power to be my business, yet give me the opportunity to help others.

I did find … (24 comments)

activerain success story: Get behind the wheel - 02/15/09 01:28 AM

Do you remember the first time you got behind the wheel of a car? Do you remember the power and freedom you felt after you started to get comfortable behind the wheel?
That is exactly the way I feel about Activerain. The day I got behind the wheel of my blog, it was a little uncomfortable, but then I got my first lead and I was empowered. I was free!
Now, I was the one driving my business instead of my business driving me. Get behind the wheel of your own Activerain blog and realize the freedom that lies within.

activerain success story: Dear Diary, My Passion is... - 01/29/09 11:12 PM
The end of that title is ...helping others. Heck, even the title of my blogs has "Helping" in the title, but little did I know that helping others and posting it to for the public to see would have done so much for my business.
It was Tuesday morning approximately 7:30 local time and I had written a post over the weekend and I decided to post it. But as usual I struggled with the decision if I should make this post public. There were many reasons I struggled with this post and why maybe I should keep it a members' … (28 comments)

activerain success story: Could my 2009 start with a brokerage move? - 12/31/08 10:46 AM
Monday at 9am, I got an interesting call from a principle broker who has been reading my posts for over a year now and has even made some comments from time to time on them. But, today he wasn't calling about one of my posts, he was calling about all of them.
To Mr. Principle broker, yes, I know you are reading, as I told you, any conversation with me could become a post. But since my posts are what got you to call me, I'm going to use the same posts to show that I'm very transparent in what I'm … (26 comments)

activerain success story: Well how cool is that – One of my posts was quoted in the Santa Cruz Sentinel - 12/27/08 04:57 PM
I wake up in the morning, check my mail and what do I see? "Another Google Alert for "Todd Clark - Realtor" in my inbox. I click on the link and I see that the Santa Cruz Sentinel quoted a post that I did awhile back on how to sell an investment property with a renter and what options you may have if the renter may slow the sale.
Here is a link to my post and also a link to the article by the Santa Cruz Sentinel.

activerain success story: The power of the rain (Still alive in Google a year later) - 12/18/08 10:09 AM
THANK YOU ACTIVERAIN and GOOGLE! Today I got a call from a buyer that hired me because of posts I did last year! The buyer said they wanted someone who was family oriented and loved where they lived and I was that person.

Why did they say this? Last year, I wrote a series where every night we would go out and take pictures of neighborhood Christmas lights and put them into a slideshow format for the world to enjoy.
The Highland Hills neighborhood in lights! (Beaverton, Oregon)
This client said anyone that would do that every night with … (17 comments)

activerain success story: Todd, we found you on Activerain can you help us? - 09/01/08 10:29 PM
Oh, you know I love to hear that, but what if you can't help them? Last week when I got this call, I was really looking forward to helping this client, but it turns out they might have needed to see a psychiatrist rather than me.
This person contacted me because they were worried about their credit and wanted to know how to improve it. They weren't looking to buy a house right now, but they said they understood that is why I do what I do and were willing to pay me to help them improve their credit. They also … (19 comments)

activerain success story: Activerain Love Story – Love has found its way 64 years later - 07/25/08 06:06 PM
I love Activerain and yesterday was just another reason to love it even more. I have a house listed that has some amazing history behind it and one of the things that was found during the remodel was some love letters written during World War II.
The Schiller Station home was an amazing home that was a stop along the Portland to Estacada rail line and the Schiller family built this home along the rail line in 1912 where they raised their five kids. In 1951, after all the kids had moved out, and even though some of the kids … (31 comments)

activerain success story: One year ago today - 01/03/08 10:59 AM
One year ago today, I was looking for a way to expand my business, I needed a change. I had just got my new website going, business was going good, but I wanted it to be better. I dove head first in to learning new ways to expand my business and I knew that involved educating myself.
I searched the net and came across a little known real estate blogging network that you may have heard of, called Active Rain. At first, I wasn't sure if this was the place for me, but quickly realized in this one place was more … (20 comments)
