christmas: GIVING - What I saw happen yesterday brought a tear to my eye - 12/21/11 01:29 PM
While driving yesterday, I came upon a red light and about 75 feet from me, I saw a homeless person walking with a shopping cart. They wasn’t begging for anything, they were just going about his business when a small car pulled up to them. The person jumped out, gave them a brand new still in the plastic, $100+ sleeping bag and a $150+ ski jacket. The person's face looked so happy and then the driver jumped backed in the car and drove off. This all happened in the matter of 30 seconds. No cameras, no media, no fanfare, just

christmas: What are you wishing for this Christmas? - 12/17/11 11:32 AM
I love Christmas time and taking the kids to see Santa is one of best times of the year. Though the waiting in line isn’t that much fun, but the smiles you get to see for those few seconds as they tell Santa what they want for Christmas. So, thank you Santa for the joy you bring all of us, young and old.

christmas: Please help the needy this Saturday with your food donations by giving to the Cub Scouts - 11/30/10 12:40 PM
This Saturday I will be helping my son’s Cub Scout troop by driving the trailer as we go house to house with bags for families in the Tigard / Beaverton area off Borrows road looking for food donations. We ask that if you aren’t going to be able to be home to stop off at 9:30 at the Godfathers off Walnut and Barrows and drop off a bag for the needy. Remember that this time of year is the season to give and help your fellow man and we all need help sometimes. If you aren’t able to do

christmas: Christmas is coming, but I caught this wise man off his game - 11/10/10 11:54 AM
While in Utah we came across a nativity scene being set up and they had laid everything out getting it ready to set up for the big Christmas holiday. But, sometimes I feel people need to look at the overall picture of their setup. So, here is the third wise man looking a little drunk in my opinion. Hopefully he will recover by Christmas.

christmas: The day my dad turned 18… - 12/18/08 10:21 PM
To many of my subscribers, you know that I talk to my mom and dad on the phone everyday and see them at least three to four times a week. My dad truly is my best friend and we do a lot of things together and we always have fun doing it. But, the day my dad turned 18 was today! Now, like me, his maturity level is still set on 12, but to me and the rest of my family, today is my dad's 18th birthday. We couldn't be happier to celebrate it with him, because we almost didn't get

christmas: The power of the rain (Still alive in Google a year later) - 12/18/08 10:09 AM
THANK YOU ACTIVERAIN and GOOGLE! Today I got a call from a buyer that hired me because of posts I did last year! The buyer said they wanted someone who was family oriented and loved where they lived and I was that person. Why did they say this? Last year, I wrote a series where every night we would go out and take pictures of neighborhood Christmas lights and put them into a slideshow format for the world to enjoy. The Highland Hills neighborhood in lights! (Beaverton, Oregon) This client said anyone that would do that every night with

christmas: Is it really is all about MeMe when it comes to Christmas? - 12/13/08 06:55 AM
I love Christmas... all the lights, presents and family. I love getting all the family together on Christmas Eve and seeing each other during these special times. Now, don't get me wrong, it isn't like that is the only time I see my family. My whole family gets together about once a month and I talk to my parents everyday. But, there is just something about Christmas that makes it different. I was tagged for the Christmas MeMe by Jeannette Neerpat and I have to say I don't really enjoy these because I'm not one that writes on command very well.

christmas: I hated Christmas as a kid, but I get it now! - 12/10/08 01:01 AM
Yes, you read that correctly, as a kid I hated Christmas. I was embarrassed by my family tradition, but now I get it! My friends thought we were crazy and weird, and didn't know how I could put up with it. At the time, neither did I, but now my family is closer than any family out there and I actually have considered doing the tradition myself now. You see, as a kid, my parents really didn't have a lot of money, but they did still give us a fair amount of gifts. Christmas, at our house, lasted 3 days starting

christmas: I felt the urge to steal from an REO today - 11/24/08 10:23 AM
Please don't judge me too harshly until you read the whole post. I didn't do it, but I still have an urge to go back and steal from this REO for the greater good. You see I am married with three kids. I've had tough times in my life and if you listen to the news everyday, you would think the banks were eating soup and sandwiches every night with the shortage they have. (I don't consider a Twenty Two Million dollar bonus a shortage, for the record.) But as we walked in to this vacant REO property today, it

christmas: Oregon is just full of giving people this month - 10/28/08 11:37 AM
I have to ask, did Christmas arrive early and I miss it? Last late week, I wrote a post about Santa Claus and his early Christmas present to one of my clients. But, then last night on the news, I hear a story that at one of our local auctions a son and mother team heard a lady crying when they announced a certain house. They decided to bid on it, won the house in the auction, and then gave the house back to her. Talk about giving! This couple deserves to be applauded for what they did, these people are

christmas: This week I got to experience true giving and Christmas a little early - 10/22/08 11:50 AM
About two years ago I had a client buy a new home and put a lot of her stuff in to a POD. What I didn't know was she put me as an emergency contact on the account. On Wednesday, PODS called me saying they have been unable to reach my client and her POD was going to auction tomorrow unless they received $1900 before 9am the next day. WOW! OK, time to make some phone calls. I call one of my friends who goes to these auctions all the time and he asks for the account number. If he could

christmas: Washington Square in Tigard, Oregon again has the breakfast with Santa - 11/30/07 11:35 AM
Saturday, December 1st marks our 5th annual breakfast with Santa. You see, every year Washington Square mall in Tigard, Oregon opens it doors early, and for $5 each they open the food court and cook up a great buffet style breakfast. About 30 minutes after breakfast is served, Mrs. Claus shows up and has a little show that includes songs and a magic show that the kids love! Then you hear sleigh bells... and she asks all the kids if they hear that? And she gets on her phone and says, guess who is here? Then the big man himself steps out

christmas: A card is nice, but giving back can be even better - 11/29/07 01:23 AM
Recently I've read some great articles about Xerox offering to send cards to service men, but what about their families here back in Oregon who's incomes have been cut by their spouses being over seas? What is Oregon doing about that? Well thanks to a local talk show host Lars Larson, we have the Hometown Heroes program. This program helps families that are left behind by war, and sometimes can't afford the simple things. This program was set up so people could volunteer their services to help family members of those who are at war protecting our country. You see, if
