family fun: Summerfield Park: North Clackamas Parks and Recreation - 08/23/11 01:10 AM
Summerfield Park: North Clackamas Parks and Recreation is a small little neighborhood park, but if you need a break, then this is the park for you. One thing I really liked about this park was despite its small size it had a lot for little kids and even had a bathroom.

If you live in the area of Sunnyside Road, then I would suggest checking out this park, it would be well worth it and small kids will love it. Summerfield Park in Happy Valley, run by the North Clackamas Parks and Recreation Department.

family fun: Parks help make a neighborhood home: Atfalati Park in Tualatin, Oregon - 07/29/11 01:34 PM
Parks help make a neighborhood home: Atfalati Park in Tualatin, Oregon is just another one those great parks that help make a neighborhood home. Pronounced At-fall-a-tee and named after a tribe of Indians that once inhabited this area.

Though the Atfalati tribe is now extinct, the City of Tualatin has given a great history to the tribe through this park. There are wonderful walking trails through the park with little signs that give the history of the tribe and the vegetation in the park.

The park is a great little park and the only complaint my kids had … (9 comments)

family fun: What an amazing day at the races: Technology sure has changed! (Today’s Pine Wood Derby) - 01/22/11 09:32 PM

Today was the big day for my son, he was in his first Pine Wood Derby car race and though he didn’t win I was still proud of him because he designed and made his own car. It was awesome, he did come in 10/12, but I can tell you looking at those other cars, there was certainly some parents involved!

But, today the thing that really changed was the race and the technology they use. Each kid gets 3 races, one in each lane during the qualifying heats. Now after that, the top three of each age … (12 comments)

family fun: Though our camping trip did end earlier than expected, I still got a couple good pictures - 10/04/10 08:25 PM

Yes as with all our vacations something must go wrong with it and this little test run with our new tent trailer was no exception. Good news is it really wasn’t anything wrong with the trailer itself, but rather one of my kids. We were forced to come back and visit the urgent care facility with our youngest. (She is alright, just too much acid in the tummy)
But, while we were only camping for about 36 hours, we did get a couple good pictures for you to enjoy, hopefully next venture will be a little longer and have a … (24 comments)

family fun: Beaverton, Oregon and Beyond from Todd’s Eyes – Going back in time - 08/25/10 03:18 PM

I had another idea of what to post on today when it came to “From Todd’s Eyes” today, but yesterday afternoon that all changed when it was 92 degrees here in the Portland area and I was at my brother’s place. I got the chance to go out in his 1916 Model T and enjoy the wind in my hair and see a lot of friendly people.
Now, one thing I’ve always noticed is people always will honk and flip people off if they are not going the speed limit in front of them, they always seem to be in … (18 comments)

family fun: Portland Beavers Baseball we will miss you! - 06/22/10 05:56 PM

The Portland Beavers are giving the fans one last chance at seeing some great baseball in Portland and last nights game was exactly that. They played the quickest game in Portland Beavers history and it was a shutout win 3-0 over Tacoma.

Now, the fact that it was a shutout was pretty awesome also, because it was the first shutout in over 3 years. So thanks family and to all baseball fans in Portland, go see the Beavers by the end of the season as it will be there last season here as the are being kicked out … (8 comments)

family fun: Cub Scout Space Derby a fun event for all involved - 03/31/10 09:28 AM

By Todd Clark (Broker/Sales Coach) 503-524-9494

Last night was the big night for the Cub Scouts Space Derby and though I thought entering the night that there was no chance for our last minute build to win, we were actually doing ok. The best part was we lost a fin on the first run and the thing even went father and faster on the runs after that. But, here are the some of the pictures from the night. There was no actual awards given, but my son on visual did get second place, but it was close, but I … (14 comments)

family fun: Beaverton, Oregon Park – George W. Otten Park - 02/25/10 09:02 PM

By Todd Clark (Broker/Sales Coach) 503-524-9494
This is a small little park, but it does have everything a little kid could need and even a couple things for the big kids such as a basketball court. What was nice about this park is it had benches for the parents that were under a gazebo that provides shade that for some reason kids don’t seem to need. (I can’t figure that one out, I guess it’s the same science that they can go in 40 degree ocean water and not be cold.)
But, I certainly could see this park being used … (9 comments)

family fun: Beaverton Oregon Parks (Burntwood West Park) - 01/28/10 08:35 PM

By Todd Clark (Broker/Sales Coach) 503-524-9494

Beaverton, Oregon, has many parks and though a lot are small, Burntwood West Park being no exception, this park, for its size, surprisingly, has a lot to offer. Located near 170th and Bany, this park has basketball, wall ball, swings, and even playground equipment.

Though it had a covered area, there were no park benches or picnic tables in that covered area, so when it is sunny, I can see my wife getting sunburned if she wants to sit down as the only seats would be in the direct sunlight. The … (7 comments)

family fun: Hear me ROAR! It has been 20 years since I last remember you… Welcome back (The Oregon Zoo) - 10/05/09 09:38 PM

It was 20 years ago or so, since I last remember you, the lions, at our Oregon Zoo and I have to say “Welcome Back”! Monday, we got to go to the Oregon Zoo with my family, one of the privileges of home schooling our kids. They were showing off their new exhibit the “Predators of the Serengeti” and the Lions were certainly the big show!

They looked so proud perched on their rock. They almost seemed to be posing for the camera at times. Along with the lions, we also got to see the wild dogs … (13 comments)

family fun: Family Fun Night: The Kids Finally Got To See Why It Is Called “The Greatest Show on Earth” – A Night at the Circus (Part 2) Daddy almost got to go to jail! - 10/01/09 08:39 PM

Ok, this is part 2 of the greatest night of my little 5 year old daughter’s life, read about the fun part of the circus here. But, I do have to say for me, the night almost didn’t happen and this is my rant. I can tell you, whoever you were, that if those doors hadn’t opened and my wife hadn’t pulled me inside, I would have gone to jail that night!

This is the rant part of the fun night and I will tell you that I’m not a violent person, but I was about to become … (10 comments)

family fun: Family Fun Night: The Kids Finally Got To See Why It Is Called “The Greatest Show on Earth” – A Night at the Circus (Part 1) - 10/01/09 02:29 PM

A couple weeks ago we decided to surprise the kids. They had no idea what we going to be doing that night, they just knew that it was going to be fun! We let them guess all day long and told them if they could guess it, we would tell them they were correct. But, even up to the point where we were getting out of the car, they had no idea what they were in for.

family fun: I got tired of being beat on the Wii bowling, so I decided to show my kids that I can still take them at the bowling alley. - 09/29/09 01:03 PM

Virtual bowling is nothing like real bowling! A two ounce controller will never feel or turn the same as a sixteen pound bowling ball. Now, I have to say, my kids have gotten pretty good at the Wii bowling and I don’t like losing, so it was time to show them that daddy had some mad skill on the real hardwood lanes!

We took everyone to Sunset lanes, mainly because I knew they had mechanical bumpers to make sure the kids didn’t end up with a gutter ball. (They drop down when a certain persons name appears on … (16 comments)

family fun: Beaverton Oregon Parks: Rosa Park in the Aloha Neighborhood of Beaverton Oregon - 05/18/09 11:09 PM
Rosa Park is one of many great parks in the Aloha Neighborhood of Beaverton, Oregon, and is part of the Tualatin Hills Parks and Recreation Department. This park features walking trails, playground equipment, tennis courts, and even a small stream running through the middle of it.
One thing I really like about this park over some of the other parks in Beaverton is that is completely covered by trees. Even during the heat of the day, it still remained rather cool sitting at the picnic table watching the kids play on the equipment before baseball.
If you are looking for a … (3 comments)

family fun: That bites! - 11/21/08 01:08 AM
We all miss the dog days of summer and long for the next one, but now you can find out how your dog got to be your dog. If you are in Portland, Oregon, then you can visit the World Forestry Center now through January 4th, 2009 and find out the story of dogs.
Also, while you are there, you can climb on Peggy the 1909 log train that you see in the picture below. Because they didn't have trucks that could handle the large loads of lumber until the mid 1940s, and horses didn't have enough strength either, they had … (3 comments)
