farms: Oregon barns (Rich history of farming) - 08/07/11 03:39 PM
Let’s just say my daughter let me take this picture and that was about it, before she ate that first blackberry. If you like old barns and love to take pictures of them, please join our Barns of North America group here in the rain, we would love to see them.

farms: The mountain watches over all - 07/08/11 11:58 AM
Sometimes you have to wonder as you sit there in the field about the mountain as it sits there watching over us. Here in Oregon for those old enough to remember, Mount Saint Helens blew in 1980 and we also know that Mt. Hood could do the same thing one day. Though it has a beauty beyond compare, it still has the power the blow any day it wants. Though she watches over us, we watch her.

farms: Summer on the farm in Oregon - 07/01/11 09:31 PM
One of the things I remember the most about summer on the farm as a kid was wheat fields. Though I didn’t live on a farm myself, my backyard was next to a lot of farms and I was on those all the time. farms: Oregon’s Measure 49 Passes (What does this mean to land owners?) - 11/07/07 01:18 PM
A few years ago, Oregon land owners were up in arms about the state's and county's rights to take the land they had bought and changed the land use laws on an owner and not pay them fair compensation if the property lost value due to that change. Measure 37 that gave land owners the right to use the property that was in place when they bought the property, or get compensated by the state for the value that was lost by the change in land use. Last night was time for another debate and another fire fight about land use
