fun for kids: Beaverton Oregon Parks (A place for kids and family) - 10/22/11 11:53 AM

Beaverton Oregon Parks are green, well taken care of and have something for just about everyone in the family to enjoy. Depending on the park you go to you can get the traditional swing all the way to Frisbee Golf. Below is a list of all the wonderful Beaverton Oregon Parks that I have done reviews on and this list will increase as I do more.
Hope you enjoy them as much as my family did when we went to them.
Greenway Park
Burntwood West Park
Hyland Forest Park
Sexton Mountain Park
Whispering Woods Park
Rosa Park
Burntwood Park

fun for kids: Tales from Scouter’s Mountain - 07/23/11 11:59 AM
Ok, I made it back from Scouter’s Mountain this year with only tales and no injuries. To me that makes this year a success! If you remember, last year I came back bleeding because I was stupid enough to accept a challenge from the boys to take on the obstacle course. (I won, but it cost me)
This year it was fun, not to hot about 66 degrees all day and just a bunch of hiking from station to station, something I could handle. We did the rocket build, Frisbee golf, archery (I got a bull’s-eye) and last but not least, … (8 comments)

fun for kids: Today I get to be a Cub Scout again - 07/20/11 10:48 AM
Every year I volunteer to go to camp with my son at least one of the days of the week and it is always so much fun. Well, today is that day and I hope to bring back some great pictures with me. Looks like the sun is out, which is good because so far this week it has been raining a lot.
So, have a wonderful day in the rain without me today, because despite me wearing my Activerain “Let It Rain” shirt to camp, I really don’t want it to. But, I do love the conversations that are started … (13 comments)

fun for kids: The making of a friend and a smile! - 06/04/11 02:00 AM
The making of a friend and a smile is actually something that is very easy and it could be done for a cost of about $20. Build-A-Bear where a child get to pick their friend, fill them with love by adding stuffing a heart and then gets to bath them, cloth them and in less than 20 minutes that bear then can create a smile on a young child’s face. If you have never taken a child or a grandchild, then I suggest you do, they will love you for it, promise!

fun for kids: Beaverton Oregon Parks: Eichler Park - 10/24/10 09:34 PM

This is a nice park, but I do have to say I have mixed feelings about it. Not because of what they have, but mainly its location and the people who are always at the park. Normally when you think of a Beaverton, Oregon Park you think of a great place for young kids. But, this park seems to have more teenagers than young kids.

You see when you are a parent of a small child, you tend to want to stay away from parks with a large number of teenagers, not because they are bad, but … (6 comments)

fun for kids: Lincoln City Geocache Day: Not only was it fun, but educational as well - 10/17/10 07:09 AM

How do you as smaller city in Oregon get some 250 people visitors to your city and teach them about the history at the same time? You set up a Geocache mystery adventure and people from all around come, that’s how!

The kids finding the first cache of the mystery

Well, The Lincoln City Parks and Recreation department did that and they apparently do it twice a year and since we are fairly new to Geocaching, we got involved in this one, met some great people from all walks of life and even got to watch what … (15 comments)

fun for kids: Portland Parks – Mt. Scott Park - 10/13/10 11:54 PM

OK, I thought this park was pretty cool, was a little disappointed that they had dismantled the merry-go-round, but still rather large and lots to do. Even have an indoor pool with a waterslide, couldn’t get a picture of that really. But, they have bathrooms tennis courts, lots of picnic tables to eat at and plenty of bench seating for parents to watch their kids play.

Now, something I didn’t see, but did read about online via foursquare was that there was a roller rink somewhere in the park. I’m not sure about that as I didn’t see … (10 comments)

fun for kids: Clackamas County Parks: Rivervilla Park - 08/29/10 11:58 PM

Normally we don’t venture out of Washington County for parks, but it was over 90 degrees this day and we were over at my brother’s house for the car ride. Afterwards were looking for a way to cool down. As you can tell by the name of the park, it is located on the river.

We were hoping that it actually had river access for swimmers and not just boaters. We were in luck on this one! It actually didn’t have boat access and just people access. Boy did the kids enjoy getting in for a swim as a … (8 comments)

fun for kids: Out of this World Pizza: The pizza and the rest of the place actually is out of this world - 06/14/10 01:36 AM

As the end of baseball season ends, my youngest had her end of the year party first. They decided to have it Out of this World Pizza and I have to admit I had never heard of the place before then. To be honest when I got the invitation I thought they had made a mistake. It was on the outskirts of Hillsboro, OR and in the middle of a heavy industrial area. (Not the place you would expect to find a huge pizza place)

So, we went not knowing what to expect at all. Well I do … (18 comments)

fun for kids: Metzger Park, Tigard Oregon (A little history and a a lot of fun) - 04/20/10 12:31 PM

I love Oregon despite all the reports of rain. Yes, we do seem to get our fair share, but in-between the rain showers we are left with the opportunity to play in some of the most beautiful areas in the world. During these brief but wonderful dry times in the spring, I enjoy taking my kids to parks. (Our summers are mostly dry and sunny though) This one was especially enjoyable for me because I got to tell my kids my story about what I got to see in this park.
This is my story of Metzger Park and then … (11 comments)

fun for kids: Fire Station Number 50 – Tigard, Oregon - 04/14/10 07:20 AM

Last week the boys from my son’s Boy Scout troop and my oldest daughter got to tour Fire Station Number 50 in Tigard, Oregon. Now, I love to learn and I have to say, the one thing that really, really surprise me was the siren that used to sound on the show “Emergency” from the 70s, no longer exists.

So, how to they wake up the fire fighters today if there is a fire? Well, it is an alarm that is quieter and sounds more like a door chime than an alarm to wake people up for an emergency. … (16 comments)

fun for kids: Beaverton, Oregon Park – George W. Otten Park - 02/25/10 09:02 PM

By Todd Clark (Broker/Sales Coach) 503-524-9494
This is a small little park, but it does have everything a little kid could need and even a couple things for the big kids such as a basketball court. What was nice about this park is it had benches for the parents that were under a gazebo that provides shade that for some reason kids don’t seem to need. (I can’t figure that one out, I guess it’s the same science that they can go in 40 degree ocean water and not be cold.)
But, I certainly could see this park being used … (9 comments)

fun for kids: Hideaway Park lives up to its name with no signs, but well worth the search - 02/23/10 07:05 AM
By Todd Clark (Broker/Sales Coach) 503-524-9494

Today we found a park that we were glad we hunted out. Hideaway Park is a little park just off Olsen Road but it has no signs to tell you it’s there. Once we found it we were glad we did or at least the kids were glad we did. (LOL) This park was something different than most parks in the Beaverton, Tigard area.
This park doesn’t have much, but because of the unusual stuff it did have made the kids not want to leave. The first toy they spotted was a spinney toy … (8 comments)

fun for kids: Beaverton Oregon Parks: A.M. Kennedy - 02/20/10 10:02 AM
Beaverton Oregon Parks:  A.M. Kennedy - By Todd Clark
When it comes to good, little, Beaverton, Oregon, Parks, A.M Kennedy delivers. This is a medium size park, but it had different equipment for all the kids. It had a place to play with the dog and even a place in the shade for parents to sit. I think the only thing this park was missing was, once again, the thing even the biggest parks in Beaverton seem to be missing, and that is a bathroom.
But, this park is a nice park that I will be taking my family back to, mainly … (5 comments)

fun for kids: Beaverton Oregon Parks – Willow Creek Nature Park - 02/08/10 12:49 PM

Beaverton Oregon Parks – Willow Creek Nature Park - By Todd Clark
Are you looking for a little exercise and a place you can take the whole family? This is the park for you. This hiking trail is something you can have your kids bring their bike, scooter, or even roller skates, like our 5 year old did today, and not have to worry about them getting dirty no matter how much it has rained recently.
You see, Willow Creek Nature Park is walking path that is either paved or a wooden foot bridge the entire way. Not once … (10 comments)

fun for kids: It is that time again, Breakfast with Santa at Washington Square in Tigard, Oregon - 11/19/09 04:23 PM
By Todd Clark (Broker/Sales Coach) 503-524-9494
If you have not attended the breakfast with Santa with your kids, I suggest you do. Kids love it and it gets you out of the kitchen for the morning. This year's event takes place on December 5 and tickets went on sale this past Thursday. The tickets are only $5 per person and that includes breakfast, magic with Mrs. Claus, and then the big event when the big guy himself shows up.

But, after the breakfast, if the kids want to sit on Santa's lap and tell them what they want for Christmas, … (5 comments)

fun for kids: Vacation time is fast approaching, do you plan on driving? Have something for the kids to do or it will feel like an even longer trip than it really is! - 10/29/09 12:11 AM

I love going on long drives with my family. We try to do it as often as possible, so we can discover new places. Lucky for me, my family all lives within 20 miles of my home, but if you need to drive this holiday season, let me share some of our longer trip games and things to do to occupy our kids.

Many new cars come with DVD players and much as I love them, I don't like to create zombies out of my kids. But, if we are driving for more than 25 hours, then a … (12 comments)

fun for kids: WOW! That is all I could say - 10/13/09 01:56 PM

Have you ever met someone for the first time and knew how they treated their clients? Well, yesterday, while on a family outing to Eugene, Oregon, I got to meet Jim Hale, a broker with ActionAgents.net and boy did he impress me!

Jim, wanted to meet us at about 3pm and since he knew I had my kids with me, he said he had something planned for my family and me. Now, after yesterday, I know Jim treats everyone of his clients the same.
THIS MAN DOES HIS HOMEWORK!

You see Jim, read my blog and … (14 comments)
