help: Helping those in the animal kingdom - 05/03/12 11:34 AM
As many of you know I have been helping a no kill ferret shelter for the past 14 years by being Santa at Santa Paws, being the DJ for their annual fundraiser “Wessels Dancing in the Park” and in any other way I can help them.
Recently while at one of my networking events I was talking to one of my friends and the subject of his mom came up. Well, it seems she runs and animal shelter as well and well unlike ferrets that do eat a lot for their size, they certainly don’t have an appetite like these beautiful … (8 comments)

help: Do you try to go it alone? Sometime there are things even too big for you! - 09/27/11 07:28 PM
Do you try to go it alone? Sometime there are things even too big for you! That is why I think it is important to admit when you need help and reach out for it. Recently I took a trip to the coast with my family and while there I saw the biggest kite I had ever seen.
But, that kite couldn’t fly on its own just under wind power and the person who brought the kite couldn’t get it up on his own either, both needed help and both understood this and when they both got the help they needed they … (10 comments)

help: As we pray for Japan, maybe they should pray for us - 03/20/11 04:50 PM

Over the past week we have been praying very hard for Japan and the Japanese people. They have gone through such devastation and continue to have troubles because of their reactors not cooling down. But, despite all this, I still look on this country now with such admiration and have to wonder about our own future here in the United States.

You see, I have a friend at church that owns a company in Japan and he happened to be in the United States when the devastation hit. Luckily for him he didn’t lose anyone or suffer to much … (15 comments)

help: Please help the needy this Saturday with your food donations by giving to the Cub Scouts - 11/30/10 12:40 PM

This Saturday I will be helping my son’s Cub Scout troop by driving the trailer as we go house to house with bags for families in the Tigard / Beaverton area off Borrows road looking for food donations. We ask that if you aren’t going to be able to be home to stop off at 9:30 at the Godfathers off Walnut and Barrows and drop off a bag for the needy.

Remember that this time of year is the season to give and help your fellow man and we all need help sometimes. If you aren’t able to do … (7 comments)

help: Are you thinking about doing a loan modification to keep from losing your home? WHY? - 06/17/10 09:39 AM

WHY? Simple question that can save you lot of time and heartache when it comes to doing a loan modification and trying to keep your home. Many people are going through hard times right now and many of these people want to keep their homes and I’m betting if you are reading this you are one of them.
But, my question to you is “What was the reason you need to do the loan modification?” If you saying because your payments are too high or is that because you are getting paid less or could it be you have a … (6 comments)

help: Thank you Warren, but don’t we have to fix our economy first? - 03/01/10 03:43 PM
By Todd Clark (Broker/Sales Coach) 503-524-9494

Warren Buffet says the housing market will start to recover by 2011. That is when he predicts demand will catch up with supply, but I have a question. Warren, don’t we have to fix the economy first? Over the past year we have watched the deficit explode to a record high, unemployment has skyrocketed to over 10% in most areas, and then lending has all but become impossible to obtain.

So, how is the housing market going to improve if more and more foreclosures are coming on to the market, unemployment … (14 comments)

help: I’m selling my home “For Sale by Owner” why do you agents keep calling? - 01/18/10 11:30 AM

By Todd Clark (Broker/Sales Coach) 503-524-9494

I’m selling my home “For Sale by Owner” why do you agents keep calling? That is the question I get most often when I call someone who is trying to sell their home on their own. But, let me tell you a little secret, there are three types of agents that will be calling. Ones that tell you up front why they are calling and others that will also be honest, but are looking to get to the real goal in another way, and the third who isn’t interested in your listing at … (46 comments)

help: How to take a bad month and make it worse! - 12/09/09 02:52 AM
Ealier today I wrote a post how Beaverton was voted the safest city in the Northwest for the 3rd year in a row. SO, WHY DID I LEAVE IT? Yes, I drove to Portland to go to a store to get a speciality item and when I came back out I had no ride home.Yep, my car had been stolen, laptop in the trunk and all. SO, here I sit on my wife's computer without all my pictures and gadgets and everything, all gone. I have the Portland Police looking, they think they can recover the car, but they think the old … (26 comments)

help: Do you know when to admit you need help in your real estate career? I didn’t, I had to be told! - 08/25/09 01:47 AM
Seems like a strange question doesn’t it? But, do you know when to admit you need help in your real estate career? Well, I didn’t, I had to be told and when I was, it was like a light going on above my head.

Now, for the last year I’ve been helping others build their careers with social media and blogging as a sales coach. But, what I didn’t realize was my own career was being affected by my own decisions in real estate. I thought I was smart enough that I could do it all, and that I could … (17 comments)

help: Ask for help now, not when it is too late! - 08/03/09 02:25 PM

I love real estate. I love teaching and I love social media, but often when I’m asked how to use it, it is because someone is about to leave the business and they are really too late to the game and just scratching and clawing for a way to stay.

Why not ask before that point? Many people are volunteering to help. Check out the Activerain Ambassadors, these are people that want to give back to the community, but only can help those who want to be helped.

Last week I was helping with a class put on … (13 comments)

help: Ok banks, that makes no sense at all! - 01/13/09 11:54 AM
In this time of banks taking homes back in foreclosure left and right, you would think that some common sense would still prevail. However, here I am telling you the story of another home that will go into foreclosure because of a banks stupidity!
You see I met someone who owned their home that they got in the divorce, the only thing was, that the home had to be put into her name and that she had to make all the payments on the loan. It was looking good for her until about August when her payments adjusted because of an … (19 comments)

help: Keep trying, keep trying, keep trying - 01/06/09 09:33 PM
Why do I say this? Well, I have been in a slump lately with blog ideas because I was stuck in the house because of snow for two weeks and I needed something to come out. I then thought about Benjamin Franklin as I watched a special about him and his life.
You see he had many ideas, but not all of them worked and even a lot of the ones that did, we never saw. Why was this? Well, in a nutshell, a lot of these were good ideas, but they just didn't have any practical use in the real … (8 comments)

help: The day my dad turned 18… - 12/18/08 10:21 PM
To many of my subscribers, you know that I talk to my mom and dad on the phone everyday and see them at least three to four times a week. My dad truly is my best friend and we do a lot of things together and we always have fun doing it.
But, the day my dad turned 18 was today! Now, like me, his maturity level is still set on 12, but to me and the rest of my family, today is my dad's 18th birthday. We couldn't be happier to celebrate it with him, because we almost didn't get … (14 comments)

help: Putting our experiences together to make the banking experience better for all - 12/06/08 12:46 AM
Over the past couple weeks since writing a post called, "The foreclosure that never had to happen", I've been trying to figure out how we can get our stories together and send them on to congress, so they can see the real story of what is going on with the banks.
So, I've devised a plan and it involves me starting a new group called "Short Sale and Loan Modification Nightmares". This group is for people to post their horror stories with dealing with banks on their clients' behalf. Every Friday, I plan to send a link to all the posts … (8 comments)

help: Warn your clients of loan scams before they fall victim - 11/29/08 12:50 AM

Your clients have got themselves a great 30 year fixed rate loan at a wonderful rate of 5.5%. So they close on their home and that is when the letters start. Refinance! Save money each month! Pay off your credit card bills! Heck these letters start before the house has even closed because of the credit bureaus selling their information to every loan chasing mortgage broker out there.
But, what you really need to do is warn them about is the scams out there. The misleading letters that attempt to get people to switch their mortgage from their current lender to … (9 comments)

help: I picked up my new car today and I need your help! - 11/19/08 09:21 PM
Today I picked up my new real estate car that I have been very excited about it since one of my clients asked if I wanted it. I have been working extra hard to scrape the money together to buy it. I've dreamt about a car like this since I bought my first car over 20 years ago.
Well, I went to pick up my new car today and delivered to the shop so I can start to work on it. I bought my car as a conversation starter. I have to say it worked better than I ever expected. I … (36 comments)

help: Do your homework and you may get a reward - 11/18/08 12:50 PM
Nothing upsets me more than when I see an expired listing that only expired because it had a lazy agent involved. I had one of those experiences, but I have to say that lazy agent made me look like a rock star to this seller.
You see this home had been on the market for six months with another agent and that agent just couldn't sell it. It only had one picture on the MLS, she didn't do her homework on the property, and she was missing one big selling point about this property that made it a slam dunk for … (87 comments)

help: Dang I’ve become old = When I was your age… - 11/16/08 07:02 AM
Oh crap, I channeled my very alive father when I heard the words come out of my mouth when talking to a younger client of mine. He said, "I saw you on Twitter and thought about giving you a shout out, but saw the only updates on there from you were for your posts, don't you use it?"

Well, that is when the words flowed from my lips all too easily, "I have never really used and to be honest just don't get it" What? Technology, not understanding it? Dang it! My father calls me when something technical goes wrong... … (18 comments)

help: That should make it easy for me to advertise with features like that! - 11/12/08 09:32 AM
You go to a listing appointment and you know they want to price the house right, and now you want to do the best job you can for your clients. You ask them why they bought the house and what has been done to it, so you can use those to advertise. Hopefully the next buyer is looking for some great features like the ones you described.
But, I can only do so much I am not a person that can take a pile of **** and make it in to a rose bush. But let's see what you have for … (12 comments)
