hillsboro: Time for some baseball - 05/13/12 10:05 PM
Now, as if you can’t figure out that I love baseball, I’m here to tell you I do and lucky for me, so do my kids. This is my youngest and I’m proud to say the best one on her team, she can hit, catch and outrun anyone else on the team… She is a serious player!
Now, not all is perfect, but coaching her isn’t easy… How do you tell someone who hits the ball on the first pitch 97% of the time that they would be better if they would just open their eyes? Oh, well, she can be … (8 comments)

hillsboro: West Union Elementary School in Hillsboro, Oregon (Washington County History) - 03/17/12 11:10 AM
If you are interested in buying a home within the West Union Elementary School boundaries, then you have come to the right place. West Union Elementary School has some rich history in the Hillsboro area with being the first school built in the district.
Now, the present building isn’t the original school, it is actually the 3rd school named West Union Elementary opening its doors in 1948. But, the original school, the first one that opened the school district in Washington County was built very close to the present location in 1852 and opening its doors to students in October of … (6 comments)

hillsboro: I have to say I’m pretty proud of my son! - 06/13/11 01:55 PM
Over the last four days my son has been playing in the Little League playoffs and thanks to a couple well placed hits including a double that knocked in a run. The Mariners Little League team my son plays on placed 2nd in the Forest Grove little league championship.
Way to go son, we are so proud of you!

hillsboro: Spring is finally here (At least this is what I consider the first real start of spring) - 04/09/11 02:19 AM

Though the calendar says spring was her, the weather certainly wasn’t letting us know that it was spring, (It was 38 at game time) but still those two things don’t mean spring to me. What means spring to me is to hear that first crack of that bat hitting the ball into outfield as my kids started little league this week.

It was nice as I got my camera back just hours before my son’s first game last night. Though I’m a Red Sox fan the only win I’ve gotten to see this year was my son, since he … (10 comments)

Gobble, Gobble, Gobble (I would like to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving) Gobble, Gobble (This is my Thanksgiving thanks, translated by Todd) Gobble? (What do I have to be thankful for?)

Gobble, Gobble (I have a lot to be thankful for) Gobble, Gobble, Gobble. Gobble? Gobble (Last year I learned that you eat me for dinner on Thanksgiving, but that is alright, you do it out of honor) Gobble, Gobble (I’m grateful for all the wonderful other turkeys I have as friends that are going to be around for yet another year)

hillsboro: Help someone else in need today (Donate Blood in Beaverton, Oregon) - 08/08/10 11:12 PM
Giving back is what we should thing about doing everyday. Saving someone's life isn't something you should have to be asked to do. But, today I'm going to ask you to do just that.  I promise you can be a hero! How can you be a hero in only a couple hours?  Donating blood at the local Red Cross. (Especially if you have a rare blood type)

Donating blood is quick, easy and like I said only takes a couple hours. Then the rest of the day or evening you can be the hero you are and where … (8 comments)

hillsboro: Come see what I’ve known years, Beaverton and Hillsboro Oregon are just two of the top 100 places to live in America - 07/14/10 10:42 PM

According to Money Magazine, the awesome place I call home, Beaverton, Oregon is one of the top 100 places to live in America and this is why I have been raising my family and been telling you about it for the past three years., Now also on that list is our neighbor to the west Hillsboro, Oregon. You may have seen me write about Hillsboro a few hundred times also as that’s where my kids play softball and baseball.
Now you can finally see that I’m not the only one that is saying how great it is to live here. … (9 comments)

hillsboro: Out of this World Pizza: The pizza and the rest of the place actually is out of this world - 06/14/10 01:36 AM

As the end of baseball season ends, my youngest had her end of the year party first. They decided to have it Out of this World Pizza and I have to admit I had never heard of the place before then. To be honest when I got the invitation I thought they had made a mistake. It was on the outskirts of Hillsboro, OR and in the middle of a heavy industrial area. (Not the place you would expect to find a huge pizza place)

So, we went not knowing what to expect at all. Well I do … (18 comments)

hillsboro: The Biggest Blazer Fans are right here at home... GO BLAZERS - 04/25/10 01:32 PM

As a huge Portland Blazer fan, not as big as Harvey pictured here, I was very pleased to see the return of Brandon Roy yesterday for the 2010 NBA Playoffs. Now tied 2-2 in the series with Phoenix, the Blazers will head back to Arizona for game 5. All us huge Blazer fans (Including Harvey) can’t wait to see you take home court advantage back by winning in Arizona. GO BLAZERS!

hillsboro: Silent Saturdays: What a great dad and a great coach! - 04/24/10 08:28 AM

You know you have a dedicated coach when you see him carrying his other son on his back during a game. This is my daughters coach and I have to applaud him for not calling off when he couldn't find a a baby sitter. You don't have many dads today that I think would have done this just to make sure the kids weren't disappointed.

hillsboro: A School Bell Rang (Maybe?) - 03/28/10 09:31 AM

While the wife, kids and myself were out taking pictures of old barns we came across this wonderful find. What to us looked like an old school located off Jackson School Road of all places. I know, I should have known, but to be honest it was at the farthest end of Jackson School Road where I had never been until Thursday. There was no marker, nothing about this little school house. (But, the records for the building show it as a church meeting house as early as 1863) But, no where can I find the name of the school, just … (20 comments)
