hope: Did the election really mean that much or is it the hope of change that sparked movement in the market? - 02/01/09 12:47 AM
Hope is a wonderful thing, but actions speak louder than words. Can hope alone spur change? I'm starting to think it can. Let us hope we are all right for our countries future. Prior to last week, in one of the neighborhoods I keep track of, we had two sales in the last two months. (Though that's certainly nothing to write home about.) Well, this week I was shocked when looking at the numbers. Though no new homes have sold in the last week, we did have 10 new pending sales for the week. WOW, was this change because of

hope: You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality - 01/06/09 11:42 AM
Boy, when Ayn Rand said that famous quote could she have been talking about the real estate market we are having today? No, of course not, but still it certainly applies. Now, I am not going to tell you that the real estate market is perfect, but you know what I am going to tell you. I'm going to say your reality doesn't have to be as bad as your neighbors. Many people including agents in this market listen to the news, then they panic and hide in the corner. They see reality as something that is impossible to avoid. Well,

hope: The day my dad turned 18… - 12/18/08 10:21 PM
To many of my subscribers, you know that I talk to my mom and dad on the phone everyday and see them at least three to four times a week. My dad truly is my best friend and we do a lot of things together and we always have fun doing it. But, the day my dad turned 18 was today! Now, like me, his maturity level is still set on 12, but to me and the rest of my family, today is my dad's 18th birthday. We couldn't be happier to celebrate it with him, because we almost didn't get

hope: If we were to lie this much we would lose our license – So why haven’t they? - 11/08/08 09:43 AM
THIS IS A RANT: If you don't like rants, then I suggest you don't do short sales or read this post! Over the past year and a half I have done many successful short sales, but in more recent times, I feel the banks representatives are being told to lie to anyone who calls. Every time I call I seem to get a different answer and they seem to have no record of the previous calls. Despite me having a paper trail of offers, they are denying they ever received them even though they have sent me written confirmation of

hope: Families shouldn’t be forgotten in a short sale - 09/29/08 12:10 AM
One of the toughest things about working short sales is knowing you are helping a family who is in trouble. For some reason, they can't afford to live there anymore. Many times it's because of life changing situations such as divorce, job loss, death, or many other reasons. But, now they have to sell their home and don't have the equity to pay us or what is owed to the bank. The loss in value in the last two years has made it impossible to sell a house for the same price they bought it for plus 6%-8% to cover

hope: Don’t stop thinking about tomorrow! - 02/23/08 12:11 PM
I don’t know if you remember the old Fleetwood Mac song by that title, but it was really a great song and said a lot in 5 Minutes and 19 seconds. It seems when I hear that song it gives me hope that no matter how bad today is, I should just forget about it and start thinking about tomorrow. I think today I’ve decided that I am not going to write any more negative posts. Today is the day that I start with writing about what is good in life and real estate, and start thinking about tomorrow, instead of
