inspiration: Where do you find inspiration? - 04/28/12 10:06 AM

Sometimes you just see a photo opportunity that inspires you and that is what happened with my daughter at the ocean this past Saturday. Today she is 8 and she is ready to take on the world and I do believe like her that nothing can stop her! Happy birthday Tascha! … (15 comments)

inspiration: If you want business, you can’t hide from the public - 12/12/11 12:25 PM
I hear it from agents and mortgage brokers everyday “I want more business, do you have any ideas?” Well, I have some ideas, the same ideas I’ve been giving you for the past 4 years and you wouldn’t listen then and I’m hoping you will listen now.
Referrals can be a huge part of your business, but if that isn’t getting you enough business right now, then you need to generate new leads. But, sitting in the office waiting for the phone to ring isn’t going to get you those leads unless you are doing something to make that phone ring.

inspiration: Following God's path - 11/20/11 03:11 PM

I truly believe God has a path for each of us and I also believe we have to follow the light that he put in front of us to avoid the hazards. Though we don't always pay attention, there will always be clues to where God wants us to go. Today, I will follow God's path and live the life he has planned for me.  … (14 comments)

inspiration: Want to learn how to succeed? Watch kids, they can fly! - 11/17/11 12:31 PM

There is a reason I love coaching, teaching and just being around kids… They are inspiring! Why, do you ask? At a certain age we start to listen to others and because of that many of us can’t reach our full potential.
But, kids, oh no, they tend to not listen to doubters and when they are told by someone older than them, they will look you in the eye and will say “Oh yeah, just watch!” If you look at those people who have succeeded in life also have had this ability and when they were told they … (12 comments)

inspiration: There is a reason a dog is man’s best friend - 11/14/11 05:25 PM

I do believe dogs do truly give unconditional love toward man. For this reason one of my favorite sayings is be the man your dog thinks you are! I believe that if everyone lived this way that we could all be a better society. Now, go out today and live your life with your dog as your role model and have a great happy life.

inspiration: You my friends add color to my life… Thank you! - 11/12/11 12:28 PM

Each and everyday I meet new people and I truly believe that each and everyone of these people are brought in to my life for a reason. Some people I learn from, others become great friends and as always we have some that come in to our life just to remind us to be appreciative of the friends we already have.
But, no matter the reason you have come in to my life, thanks for adding color to it.

inspiration: Start your day with a smile - 11/08/11 12:11 PM

Have you ever heard that when you talk on the phone people can hear your smile? Well, having been a radio DJ, I can tell you people can hear your smile and if you aren’t, they will call you on it. So, before you get your clothes on this morning, make sure the first thing you put on is your smile.

inspiration: Life on the farm - 10/28/11 02:29 PM

As agents are we a lot like a farmer? Life is simple, we plant our seed, we watch it grow, but isn’t that the easy part of farming? Reaping what we sow is really the hard part. So go plant your seeds, but don’t forget to reap what you have sowed this spring and now that your hard work will pay off at the closing table.

inspiration: Friendship is sometimes found in unusual places - 10/27/11 10:58 AM

One thing I love about Activerain is all the true friendships I have made here in the rain. When I started with blogging, I thought I would meet clients, but never friends. Though many of us have grown in different ways online, we haven’t grown apart and I am grateful for those people that have come in to my life thanks to the internet and Activerain.

inspiration: I open my heart to you - 10/12/11 01:15 PM

Often we run in to people who are closed hearted and minded and they bring great sadness in to our lives. When that happens in my life I choose to not be associated with those people and quickly get them out of my life and get back to associating myself with people that bring joy and happiness to my heart and mind. When I saw this flower, it was like those people, it seemed to have its heart open to me and brought a smile to my face as I hope it does yours as well.

inspiration: OK, last week I wrote about my inspirational friend Darran Zenger, but he just keeps amazing me! - 09/30/11 02:06 AM

I know it has only been a week since I wrote about my friend Darran Zenger who continues to be an inspiration to my family and I. But, being legally blind and deaf he continues to do great things despite having Usher Syndrome he never lets that defeat him and continues to prove to everyone that nothing should hold you back!
If you didn’t read my previous article about Darran, please click here and do so now and then come back and see what Darran has managed to do this week despite being told that he couldn’t!

inspiration: What is lighting your way? - 06/11/11 12:26 PM
Today we have motivations all around us, we can get motivations from friends, family all at the blink of an eye thanks to the internet. We have motivational emails that can be sent to us, we follow motivational speakers online for inspiration. Many people have God as their inspiration and to me that really is the best one. But, back in the early 1900s what lit their way didn’t come to them as easy as it does us today.

This picture is from an early 1900s car, yes that headlight is a Kerosene lamp! Can you imagine having to … (9 comments)

inspiration: Think you can’t volunteer? Think again! Meet my friend Darran Zenger with the American Red Cross - 06/24/10 01:52 AM

I got to meet Darren 12 years ago through my church and had the privilege to learn sign language from him and his wife Sharon. Now my wife and I did this for about a year while our oldest Meesha was still a baby.

What surprised us was that as Samantha and I were learning, so was Meesha. We brought her along to all the classes since they were at his home. But, one day we realized that Meesha was asking for stuff to eat and drink in sign language.
Darran is an amazing person that has taught me … (15 comments)

inspiration: The power of Activerain – Inspiration starts at the top - 02/22/09 12:49 PM
As many of you know, I’m a big fan of Activerain. Heck, I seem to become a bigger fan everyday! And, you also know that I’m very transparent in my posts about life, real estate and even where I plan to hang my license.
Many of you know the story of me choosing a new brokerage. (I still haven’t switched yet, but working on it.) I chose a company that would let me be me. It would still give me the power to be my business, yet give me the opportunity to help others.

I did find … (24 comments)

inspiration: Keep trying, keep trying, keep trying - 01/06/09 09:33 PM
Why do I say this? Well, I have been in a slump lately with blog ideas because I was stuck in the house because of snow for two weeks and I needed something to come out. I then thought about Benjamin Franklin as I watched a special about him and his life.
You see he had many ideas, but not all of them worked and even a lot of the ones that did, we never saw. Why was this? Well, in a nutshell, a lot of these were good ideas, but they just didn't have any practical use in the real … (8 comments)

inspiration: You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality - 01/06/09 11:42 AM
Boy, when Ayn Rand said that famous quote could she have been talking about the real estate market we are having today? No, of course not, but still it certainly applies. Now, I am not going to tell you that the real estate market is perfect, but you know what I am going to tell you. I'm going to say your reality doesn't have to be as bad as your neighbors.
Many people including agents in this market listen to the news, then they panic and hide in the corner. They see reality as something that is impossible to avoid. Well, … (15 comments)

inspiration: This week I got to experience true giving and Christmas a little early - 10/22/08 11:50 AM
About two years ago I had a client buy a new home and put a lot of her stuff in to a POD. What I didn't know was she put me as an emergency contact on the account.
On Wednesday, PODS called me saying they have been unable to reach my client and her POD was going to auction tomorrow unless they received $1900 before 9am the next day.
WOW! OK, time to make some phone calls. I call one of my friends who goes to these auctions all the time and he asks for the account number. If he could … (22 comments)

inspiration: Buyers don’t say banks don’t have a heart - 10/01/08 10:04 AM
Are in the market for a home that is either in a short sale situation or is already owned by the bank? Don't think just because the home is in this type of situation that they can't be human and get the bank to give you the home over other offers.
When I negotiate for a buyer for a home that is either a short sale or a bank owned property, I have my buyers put in a letter telling the bank about themselves and why they really want the home.
You know what happens when I do this? The … (13 comments)

inspiration: Giving it your all - 06/08/08 11:57 AM
Sometimes life, like baseball, hands us a curveball. Health issues, a slowing economy, whatever it may be, life isn't always throwing right down the middle, where we can hit a home run and get everything we want.
But, sometimes all it takes is to just keep swinging, and eventually we will hit that ball out of the park! This picture below is one of my players from my single A baseball team that I coach. It makes me smile every time I see it.

She just smiles and swings and continues to do so. When this picture was taken she … (10 comments)
