kids: What are you wishing for this Christmas? - 12/17/11 11:32 AM
I love Christmas time and taking the kids to see Santa is one of best times of the year. Though the waiting in line isn’t that much fun, but the smiles you get to see for those few seconds as they tell Santa what they want for Christmas. So, thank you Santa for the joy you bring all of us, young and old.

kids: Want to learn how to succeed? Watch kids, they can fly! - 11/17/11 12:31 PM
There is a reason I love coaching, teaching and just being around kids… They are inspiring! Why, do you ask? At a certain age we start to listen to others and because of that many of us can’t reach our full potential. But, kids, oh no, they tend to not listen to doubters and when they are told by someone older than them, they will look you in the eye and will say “Oh yeah, just watch!” If you look at those people who have succeeded in life also have had this ability and when they were told they

kids: Falling in love with fall - 10/24/11 01:12 AM
I love fall, the colors are amazing and as a armature photographer it gives me great opportunities to get some beautiful shots. But, kids, oh, the kids love fall for a completely different reason! As you can see even a leaf pile can be a place to play when you are a kid. Now, if you have kids, there is a safety tip for them though. Make sure any pile they play in is located in your yard and not in the streets. If they play in piles in the street it is to easy for them to get hit by

kids: Bowling with 3 year olds. In Beaverton, they don't have to be excluded! - 08/31/11 10:25 AM
One thing most people think is bowling is for big kid’s game, but, not at Sunset Lanes in Beaverton, Oregon. They have a ramp that even the littlest of kids can put a ball on that is in some cases weigh half as much as the bowler themselves. But, with one simple light push, the ball is on its way. At that point, they are just like any other bowler, who is praying they get a strike and when they do, they do the happy dance just like the rest of us! So, if you are looking for a place

kids: Giggle Snort - 08/24/11 10:24 AM
It seems I have found the most embarrassing thing in the world, the giggle snort! I love making kids laugh, heck, I like making adults laugh. But, when you get a person to giggle snort, you know you have really done it. So, today, smile, enjoy life and heck even giggle snort, you will live longer.

kids: Don’t tell my daughter, but I’m actually missing her! - 07/26/11 11:58 AM
This summer has been an unusual one for me! My oldest daughter is starting to get to that age where she has overnight camps, not just one, but two. First was her Girl Scout camp and then she came home for two days and then has left again for young women’s church camp. I hope she has fun, but I do have to say I miss her sense of humor around the house, she is actually getting pretty darn funny and she even laughs at my jokes from time to time when no one else will. (No I really miss that

kids: Today I get to be a Cub Scout again - 07/20/11 10:48 AM
Every year I volunteer to go to camp with my son at least one of the days of the week and it is always so much fun. Well, today is that day and I hope to bring back some great pictures with me. Looks like the sun is out, which is good because so far this week it has been raining a lot. So, have a wonderful day in the rain without me today, because despite me wearing my Activerain “Let It Rain” shirt to camp, I really don’t want it to. But, I do love the conversations that are started

kids: One man’s shack is another man’s castle - 05/03/11 01:33 PM
As we were driving through the county the other day looking at a possible listing that I got a call on we came across what was clearly someone’s castle at one time. (Not taking the listing, but that is for another story) My kids thought it was so neat and wondered why we didn’t have one. I had to remind them that we don’t have any big trees in our yard and the only ones close are under and HOA that just won’t allow that! But, they now have ideas for our backyard. They won’t tell me what they are,

kids: WHY? - 04/04/11 12:16 PM
Why is such a simple question, the shortest in American language, but such an important one! But, who asks it and how they ask it can be just as important to how tomorrow goes for all of us. You see when an Adult asks “Why?” it is usually asked why something is done that way or why someone would do that? But, when a “WHY?” comes from a small child, this simple question can be the most complex question ever asked. How are you going to answer that “WHY?” question today, remember your answer may change that child’s life forever.

kids: A place to run, jump swing, play basketball, more importantly smile! (Jack Park in Tigard, Oregon) - 03/02/11 01:31 PM
One of the most important things to a child when it comes to a park is that it is fun! To a parent it is, “can it wear my child out” and these two things are very different indeed. But, Jack Park in Tigard managed to do both with my family. Swings, basketball, and things to hang on that my kids love! What I love is they are smiling and don’t want to leave, but once they do, you can start to see them fall asleep on the way home! This tells me they got some exercise which is

kids: Thornbrook Park in Beaverton, Oregon - 01/26/11 01:44 AM
Now, I have to say, we had high hopes when we stopped by this park because it is in a neighborhood of more expensive homes. But, it was nothing more than a strip of land that clearly the builder didn’t want and donated to the city, so the city called it a park and put a quarter mile walking path on it. The best thing I can say about this park is that it gives the kids coming home from school a quicker path through the neighborhood. (Length? Maybe 1/3 of a mile, tops)

kids: I’m not ready… What to do when you become old and your kids decide to grow up without permission - 11/20/10 02:11 AM
This week was a hard week for me, despite being on vacation. Business is good, life was good… until I got the email from a friend who said his son was wanting my daughter’s email address. That is when panic hit me, my daughter is growing up. Now, the only thing that is keeping my mind at ease is that they are 2 states away. But, they are thinking about moving back to Oregon this next year. I think I may have to sabotage my first home sale. I’m not ready to have a boy in the same state

kids: Following the path of our ancestors: Following the Oregon Trail - 11/07/10 07:14 AM
We love teaching our kids about history and one of the biggest pieces of history in Oregon is the Oregon Trail. Now, we are heading to Utah here in a few weeks and as part of that journey because we home school will be to follow the Oregon Trail. It should be interesting to see many of the stops along the trail and learn the history of our early settlers and why they stopped in some places while others continued on. kids: Smile it's Halloween - 10/25/10 12:38 PM
There is nothing like kids at Halloween and getting great shots is not difficult because they are so proud to show of their costumes. Here are a few shots I took of some amazingly cute kids at our Halloween party and I can’t wait to post the rest of the pictures, but I do have to say these were my favorites, just because they make me smile and make me wish to be a kid again. kids: As a homeschooling parent, sometimes you need to go to the experts - 10/05/10 10:46 AM
As many people know we homeschool our children and it is a decision that we never have regretted. But, there are times that we just don’t know a subject good enough to want to try to teach our children ourselves and so we seek the advice of an expert. Saturday was one of those times we seek the advice of an expert, this expert happen to be Grandma. My daughter got a sewing machine for her birthday and my wife knows how to sew, but nothing like Grandma, so we trekked over to Grandma’s house and let the expert teach

kids: Riding that last wave of summer to the end - 09/26/10 02:28 PM
Looks like summers last wave came through yesterday and my kids took full advantage by heading to my parent’s house and heading to Deep Creek. Deep Creek is a little off shoot of the Clackamas River and over the years the kids in family have slowly built a little shoot of water to ride our inner tubes down. My kids got to enjoy that yesterday one last time before fall and cooler weather arrive making it not only too cool to probably do this, but the water levels get pretty high during the fall and winter months as well.

kids: Gee, what a great picture, I sure wish I had thought of it (LOL) - 09/12/10 11:52 PM
When I saw my daughter’s pictures when she returned from Girl Scout Camp, I had to wonder where she got such a great idea for a picture of her Girl Scout Camp. Hmmmm, weird, I just can't seem to figure out where I have seen a picture like this before. Wherever it was, I do have to say it turned out great and Camp Arrowhead clearly has some great views. kids: Oregonians are weird creatures, won’t you become one? - 08/11/10 03:14 AM
Many people think of Oregon that has a lot of rain and yes we do, but, mainly during the winter months and this year was an extra wet year. We had record amounts in April, May and June this year averaging 25 days of rain in each of those months. It actually pushed our fresh fruits and vegetables back a little. We are just getting our blueberries and strawberries in now and they normally show up in the beginning of June. But, as much as we complain about the rain being her too long, we will also complain about the

kids: Time to celebrate!!! - 07/19/10 10:41 AM
It has been a busy couple months for me with business, booming, company changes and the end of baseball season finally arriving, it meant time to get back to the real world. But, one thing that also came at the end of baseball season my wife and I’s wedding anniversary. (17 years) We didn’t get to celebrate on that day as planned, can’t remember really why now, even though it has only been a couple weeks. So, in about 2 hours we are dropping off the pets and the kids and grandpa and grandma’s house for 3 days! (YES 3

kids: Shhh, Daddy is trying to make money - 07/05/10 11:36 AM
I’ve heard some people say they can’t work out of their homes because of their kids. I’m one of the lucky ones that when I’m on the phone my kids know that it is a time to be quiet because Daddy is trying to make money. There is also many times when I’m in the car and the phone rings and all three kids are in the back seat talking. My kids immediately go quiet and sometimes I’ll hear from the back seat “Shhh, Daddy is trying to make money” I love to hear that, but do my
