livingtigard: Cub Scout Space Derby a fun event for all involved - 03/31/10 09:28 AM

By Todd Clark (Broker/Sales Coach) 503-524-9494

Last night was the big night for the Cub Scouts Space Derby and though I thought entering the night that there was no chance for our last minute build to win, we were actually doing ok. The best part was we lost a fin on the first run and the thing even went father and faster on the runs after that. But, here are the some of the pictures from the night. There was no actual awards given, but my son on visual did get second place, but it was close, but I … (14 comments)

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON
by
Cressida Cowell

I really enjoyed this book.  I would recommend it for anyone starting at about age six, especially if they love humorous books.
It’s about a boy named Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, who is the son of a chief.  He needs to become a Viking.  The first thing he needs to do is catch a sleeping dragon.  He ends up getting the most common little garden dragon, and to top it off, it has NO TEETH!  Hiccup named him Toothless.  However, he did one thing wrong.  Hiccup can speak Dragonese, which … (8 comments)

livingtigard: Washington Square does it again with there breakfast with Santa - 12/20/09 11:57 PM

By Todd Clark (Broker/Sales Coach) 503-524-9494

A few weeks ago, my family and I went to our annual breakfast with Santa at Washington Square. Now, I do have to say that every year is a blast for the kids, but sometimes leaves the adults a little frustrated because of what feels like a lack of planning on the malls part.

But, this year, I do have to say they really stepped it up and listened to the complaints from previous years and fixed them all. The kids loved the food, Santa seemed to show up on time and … (8 comments)

DREAMER
I enjoyed this book. It was very exciting. It is about a girl named Cale Crane who lives on a farm with no horses at the time and Cale met a jockey named Manolin at her dad's work, which is at a racetrack. She also saw a horse named Sonya who likes to eat candy.
The people who owned Sonya entered her in the race even though Cale's dad suggested that they should let her rest and not race. Just as Sonya was pulling into the front, she collapsed to the ground and the vet said she broke … (14 comments)

NO DOGS ALLOWED
I enjoyed this book. It was about a girl named Kristine and her family who lost their horse, Dandy. After that Kristine never wanted to love another pet again. But her dad surprises her and gives her the last thing she wanted for her birthday... a new puppy! With a baby sister on the way, why should she need to take care of a puppy?
After a couple of weeks in their house with the puppy, a new fence was being put up. During this, Kristine went to go feed Mattie (the puppy's name). Mattie kept jumping … (5 comments)

The Secrets of Droon
Journey to the Volcano Palace

I loved this book. It was very exciting. It was about Eric, Neal and Julie. They all had weird dreams and each of them were about Droon. In the last book, Keeah said your dreams will say when to go back. So, Eric, Neal and Julie went to check if the stairs had returned because they disappeared after the last time. So, they go check the closet where the stairs were and they were back! They could go to Droon again.
So they go down the stairs and … (8 comments)

The Secrets of Droon
The Hidden Stairs and the Magic Carpet

The Secrets of Droon is an exciting book. Its about 3 kids, Eric, Julie and Neal, who find a magic staircase in Eric's basement, in a closet, while they were cleaning it. The staircase leads to a a magical place called Droon. There they meet a princess, who is also a wizard, named Keeah. She needs to stop Sparr, who wants to conquer Droon. FABLEHAVEN
Book 1

Fablehaven is a great book! It's about 2 kids, Kendra and her brother Seth, who go to their rarely seen grandparents' house. They solve a little mystery about their grandpa and the large preserve he lives on. It turns out he is caretaker of Fablehaven, a magical preserve, where there are trolls, satyrs, witches, imps and fairies. Since Kendra and Seth don't know this at first, their grandpa wants them to figure it out so he can have someone to take over Fablehaven when he's done. But he can't just tell them, he needs … (5 comments)

WARRIORS - Book 4
Rising Storm

This book is very exciting and suspenseful. I really enjoyed it. In this book, Bluestar is shaken up and not herself because (in book 3) Tigerclaw attacked her and Tigerclaw was her most trusted warrior and the clan's deputy. He attacked Bluestar so he could become leader, and he failed.

In the middle of this book, Fireheart found out Cloudpaw (his nephew) was sneaking “kittypet” food from the human place. One time when he went to get food, he was taken away by the humans and he wasn't seen for a … (3 comments)

WARRIORS
FOREST OF SECRETS

I really enjoyed this book. It was very adventurous. Its great for anyone looking for adventure. It was a pretty thick book, at just over 300 pages. I would recommend this book for someone around age 8 all the way through to adult. (My grandma likes this series too.)
This book is number 3 in a series. I hope, if you read it, you'll enjoy it as much as I did.

livingtigard: When your barber retires, it isn’t easy to find his replacement, but in this case it was! - 10/21/09 12:07 AM

Saturday it was time for my son and I to get rid of the mops that were forming on our heads, but where should we go? You see our old barber had retired and it now had been a couple months and we finally had to make a decision on what place to TRY! (For you that have been reading my blog posts for over two years, I retired the Flowbee last March, after 15 years, it finally died)
For the record, trying a new place to get your hair cut is not a fun experience, you don’t know … (7 comments)

WARRIORS BOOK 2
FIRE AND ICE

I loved this book. It was full of adventure. (Book 1 was about Firepaw's adventure as an apprentice, training to become a warrior.)
In this book, because Firepaw became a warrior, his name was changed to Fireheart. This book is about Fireheart's adventures as a warrior and a mentor. Fireheart's apprentice was named Cinderpaw. She was very adventruous and excited about training and jumped ahead every time she went hunting. During leaf-bare a sickness, called greencough, runs thru the forest and a lot of warriors and kits get sick and die. So Fireheart went … (9 comments)

American Sisters
Down the Rio Grande
1829

I enjoyed the story. It was exciting and adventurous. It was about a girl named Rosita who feels unappreciated, so she runs away. Her stepsister Maria (whom she doesn't like) follows her onto a boat and they end up going down the Rio Grande. While on the boat, Maria and Rosita become friends. Also while on the boat, someone comes by and asks if they've seen Rosita and Maria and said that their father was ill because he missed them so much. The guy who finds them gets a reward, so the captain … (5 comments)
