moving: Can you push your market in to moving faster? - 04/12/11 01:14 PM

As I watched my kids go faster and faster as my daughter pushed this merry-go-round, I asked myself, can we push our market to move faster than it is? I then looked around and saw there wasn’t an apartment complex in the area that had a vacancy.

So, what if I was to go to these apartment complexes and show them that the $900 they are paying is about $50 more than they would be paying for a house of the same size including taxes and insurance. Would this get our market to move a little faster?

moving: Wordless Wednesdays: I know I complain every time I have to move, but do we really have it that bad? - 12/29/10 08:39 PM

I know I complain every time I have to move, packing up the beds, tv, record collection (Yes, I still have one of those) and pack them in a moving van along with six of my buddies and we drive across town and then unload the moving van. All this costs me is about 4 pizzas and some Sprite.
Now, even though we felt like we were going to die the next morning with aching muscles, no one is ever seriously hurt. But, let’s go back 150 years where families when they moved took months to go the same distance … (20 comments)

moving: Do you know where my pants are? I hate spending money I shouldn’t have to! - 10/10/09 01:19 PM

It is true, I don’t know where my pants are! You see, I am one of those who, during the summer months, catching me in pants is not something you see very often, except for at church on Sunday. But, even that hasn’t helped me.
You see, somehow, some way during the packing of stuff that was going to our new home, all my pants got boxed up and taken over to the new house and I’m stuck wearing my shorts. Now, this wouldn’t be so bad if it hadn’t been 38 degrees when I left the house yesterday.
So, … (16 comments)

moving: Sixteen years happy years of marriage today, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be a sad day also - 07/04/09 02:28 AM

I have to say I have one of the most amazing wives and one of the most amazing families. If you have read some of my past posts you have seen me talk about my family a lot, they really do mean everything to me!
Today was my sixteenth wedding anniversary and though it was a happy day, it still managed to be filled with some sadness for me because part of my youth was shattered today… literally!
This morning started out like just like any other great anniversary should, with hugs, kisses and telling each other how great the … (29 comments)

moving: The Aloha Neighborhood of Beaverton Oregon (Finding a neighborhood to call home) - 05/13/09 12:07 PM
If you are considering relocating to Beaverton, Oregon, finding out about a certain neighborhood before you actually live here certainly isn’t something that is easy to do. But, hopefully, my neighborhood posts will help you find a place to call home.
The Aloha Neighborhood of Beaverton, Oregon, is a well established part of Beaverton that has many homes built in the 1960s and 1970s, but many homes have been added to the community over the years. There are even a couple new developments in the area that were built in 2003-2004, but most of the area is a little bit older.

moving: My family is considering a move, but do I sell or do I hold? - 04/29/09 02:25 AM

I was 14 when I bought my first one, though it was many years earlier when I received my first record. Over the next 25 years, I proceed to buy some 15,000 more albums of some of the greatest artists of all time, but do I really want to move them again?
If you have ever taken a wooden crate full of records from room to another, you know these things are heavy! But, the thing is that crate only holds abut 120 records! Now trying to imagine moving 125 of those boxes every time you move!

You see, … (19 comments)

moving: Check on your vacant home or it could cost you! - 01/18/09 12:57 AM
Have you ever had a seller call you interested in selling their present home and buying a new one? Of course we all have, but the seller says, we would like to kind of just start looking around while we fix our present property. Then a wonderful thing happens, within 2 days you find them their dream home, and they just can't wait and buy it.
This was the situation I was in recently with a client. So, they decided to keep the old property vacant so they could go back and get it fixed up and ready to sell, like … (16 comments)

moving: Could my 2009 start with a brokerage move? - 12/31/08 10:46 AM
Monday at 9am, I got an interesting call from a principle broker who has been reading my posts for over a year now and has even made some comments from time to time on them. But, today he wasn't calling about one of my posts, he was calling about all of them.
To Mr. Principle broker, yes, I know you are reading, as I told you, any conversation with me could become a post. But since my posts are what got you to call me, I'm going to use the same posts to show that I'm very transparent in what I'm … (26 comments)

moving: Can we bring our kids? - 10/04/08 11:21 AM
This is a question I got from a buyer yesterday and as a person with 3 kids of my own, ranging from ages 4 to 10, I couldn't believe I was being asked this question. I personally think this is a question that I shouldn't have to be asked. Without kids, we don't have a future and I want them to learn about life and the home buying process.
I love kids and I told them I would send some of my past posts about kids on appointments to look at homes and how sometimes the biggest joy I get out … (22 comments)

moving: Are you moving cross country? It maybe cheaper to sell everything and buy new when you get here! - 09/23/08 01:49 AM
With the price of fuel and the cost of moving companies going up more and more people are realizing that they can sell a lot of their stuff on line and at garage sales and buy used furniture and replacement items in their new home state and save thousands over packing it up and sending it on a moving truck.
I recently had a client move from North Carolina who got a quote to move all their stuff, furniture, kitchen appliances, pots and pans, to Oregon would have cost them nearly $12,000, but instead they sold it online and at a … (10 comments)

moving: Make some extra money before you move - 03/23/07 02:26 AM
You are now about to move and you look around and say to yourself "Where did all this stuff come from?" We all collect things over time, that when it comes time to move that we just don't want to either take with us or just don't want any more.
Most everyone hates moving and that is why so many moving companies exist. We just throw up our hands and say you take care of it. This can cost thousands of dollars and when we get to our new home we are just amazed why we kept this and that as … (0 comments)
