newbies: Fake it until you make it! Not on my team - 01/17/12 05:03 PM
We have all heard the saying “Fake it until you make it!” Well, that doesn’t fly on my team. Now, I have a new agent on my team, she has only been licensed for 3 months and she just had her first close. She asked me if she should fake it or lie to potential clients.
I told her “NO WAY” and you are part of a team and you can tell them that. You are backed up and everything you do will be checked and double checked. If you have a questions, someone on the team will have an answer … (58 comments)

newbies: I forgot how hard this was, how do you guys do it? - 12/26/09 05:37 PM

OK, on January 3rd I will have been an Activerain member for 3 years. When I started I was just like most everyone else here. I would post from time to time and comment everyday. But then I got my first call from someone who read my blog and wanted me to be their agent. I WAS HOOKED and I never looked back.

I found ways to write more posts and the fact was I was writing a lot, I was writing 2-3 posts a day and I had a reserve on average of 40 posts ready to go. … (33 comments)

newbies: How often should you post? That was the question and this was my reply - 10/16/09 11:57 PM

Over the past couple months, I have been working hard as an ambassador bringing Activerain some, hopefully, great new talent. But after last Mondays class, someone stopped me and asked me a very important question.
That question was, “How often should you post?” My answer was simple, “Only as much as you feel comfortable with.” You see, they saw how much I was posting and they learned that I was only dedicating about one hour a day to Activerain and all other social media. But, then they saw how much I had posted and they wanted to know if … (22 comments)

newbies: The why, how and the how not to add an associate to your Activerain account - 10/14/09 11:53 PM

As an Ambassador of Activerain one of my jobs is to show others how to use Activerain to build their business. I do this by teaching them how to blog for business, how to use social media to promote themselves and their blog, and how to just network, network, network. But, one of the most confusing things on Activerain for most newbies and even long time members on Activerain is the Associate button. What is it? Why do we have it? How can it help me build my business?

Think of the Associate button as a giant networking button, … (28 comments)

newbies: I won’t lie to you, I’ve never done a short sale before - 01/27/09 09:41 AM
I got a call about one of my listings the other day and this agent had a very interested buyer in one of my homes that happens to be a short sale. But, she said, "I won't lie to you, I've never done a short sale before."
I said that is fine, before I did my first I hadn't either. She had to laugh at that and I gave her a run down of the process and what happens during what can be a long process unless you met the right person within the bank.
She said to me, "Wow, you … (15 comments)

newbies: Whoa there cowboy… What happened to the person I was just talking to? - 11/05/08 10:03 AM
Have you ever been with someone you've known for awhile and then all of a sudden they change? I had this experience with a new agent the other day. This person was very personable and fun to be around. I thought they were an all around a great person and would make a great agent.
But, that is when something happened, a buyer walked in! Then this used car salesman showed up in the body of this wonderful agent I was talking to. He wasn't confident in who he was and became what he thought people wanted. His image of a … (20 comments)

newbies: It is like riding a bike, you just never forget - 09/03/08 08:54 AM
If you think about this statement, it can have a lot to do with life and real estate. But what if you never have been on a bike before? Today was a special day for my little Shortstop. (I know you think I call her that because of my love of Baseball, but I actually call her that because she is very short and I'm always telling her to stop it!)
Today my little Shortstop got her first bike. How can you remember how do to do something that you have never done before? Maybe we should think of new agents … (17 comments)

newbies: Why I now subscribe to my own blog - 08/17/08 10:10 AM
Have you ever gotten an e-mail from someone and you didn't know how to react? Well, last week I got that e-mail from someone who subscribes to my blog via e-mail. I knew I had that on my blog via Feedburner, but I never actually went back to see who or if anyone had subscribed to my blog!

It turns out in one of my blogs I had mentioned the pictures below and the subscriber e-mailed me to tell me that there were no pictures within the post they received. So, I ended up having to send them a link … (38 comments)
