nikon d90: Can it really bee?
- 08/16/11 04:34 AM
I love taking pictures, it has really become a way for me to escape. If you haven't seen me at one of my kids baseball games, then you don't know how passionate I can be. Umpires usually just laugh at me, I've become friends with most of them. But, they all say I'm much better and quieter since I've gotten my camera. (I guess it changes my focus - no pun intended) Last week, my daughter and I worked together to get a great picture of a hummingbird that inspired a featured post by another Activerain member. That picture took us (14 comments)
As I’ve quickly realized over the past couple weeks, getting a picture of a hummingbird isn’t as easy as I had thought it would be. Now, some 500 pictures later with the assistance of my oldest daughter we have finally snapped this amazing shot of this hummingbird with his tongue out. (44 comments)
This is how I felt with this flower as we watched it enjoying the sun. Then that darn sun went behind a cloud and then it looked like that poor flower was begging for the sun to come back as it leaned toward where the sun used to be coming from. Now, I know it was only the wind blowing it that direction, but still, it still was looking like it was missing it. (No worries, it got it back 2 minutes later when the cloud decided to move on) (12 comments)
I love flowers, despite being allergic to them. But, as a photographer, I love the beauty of each and every one of them. The Tulip was an example of one of nature’s beauties and I when I saw it, I new I had to find a special way to highlight it. (16 comments)
nikon d90: Finally our first sunny day in 30 days and here is the amazing pictures we got
- 04/01/11 06:24 PM
Yes, it finally happened, we have a sunny day here in Beaverton, Oregon, our first real on in 30 days. It is also the latest we have every gotten a sixty degree day. Now, this is the time to go out, get the camera, and take some amazing spring time photos of Beaverton. But, there is one little problem… Notice the picture below?
What? You don’t? Well that is because despite having a lens cap on, and a UV filter on, my lens still managed to get damaged enough that I had to take the camera in to the shop. (28 comments)
What makes a good winter day in Beaverton, Oregon real estate? When you can look out your front windshield see nothing but sunshine and a clear lane of traffic. We get a lot of rain during the winter months and that sometimes affects traffic. So when you get a day like this, it makes it a pleasant surprise that I’ll take anytime.
While coming out of a gas station in Southern Utah on our way to Cedar City to meet up with Tony and Darcy Cannon tomorrow morning, this is the amazing sun set we got to witness. It made us look even more forward to tomorrow night as we hit St. George and meet up with our good friend Wanda Kubat-Nerdin.
I have to say our first night of our vacation was a little rough, we decided to go to a little campground we found on the old iphone and getting there at 11pm was the first part of our mistake. Even though I probably wouldn’t have stayed there had I went there during the day, I did get some great shots out of it. But, for the record don’t turn around are you too might go... uhhhh.
One of my favorite times of year is fall, the carving of pumpkins, the bright colors, the changes in texture on the ground. Today I was feeling a bit creative and decided to go out with my trusty Nikon D90 and take some classic fall shots and change them up a little and try a little black and white mixed with a few highlights for effect.

Yes, it is true! As many of you know I have been taking lots of pictures of the great Pacific Northwest’s people, places and events and thanks to a picture I posted here awhile back taken at the Oregon Ferret Shelter’s “Weasels Dancing in the Park” this last August, Oregon Ferret Magazine wants to use my picture on their cover. I’m very excited as this will be my first published work. I have sold a couple of my photos, but none have been published in a magazine or online besides by me, that is until today. I promise as soon (25 comments)
As we plan for our weekend of camping, this is all I can think about. Taking the camera out at night and finding the perfect sunset as each picture is as unique a finger print. Each day brings something even more beautiful than the day before. Mother nature has always been the best artist I know and I’m just glad she allows photographs at her shows.

Sometimes all it takes is a little piece of grass to make a friend. Despite all the grass everywhere in the park, the one being hand feed to you must be the best. I loved this picture as it was just so innocent and pure. This was captured in a local park where this little girl found this bunny that belonged to one of the other kids in the park. The bunny certainly didn’t have a problem making new friends, especially when food was involved.

I saw this guy at one of my buyers home inspections and I couldn't help but get the camera out, because he was so cute. Now, he didn't exactly stay still for pictures, but I did get this one. There were two other dogs and I couldn't get them to stay still even for one picture. (But, it wasn't for a lack of trying) (21 comments)
I couldn't believe it when I got the email, there it was, someone wanted to pay me to use my photo. This makes me a professional, well I guess not until I actually get the check. But, I have a lawyer writing a contract on exactly how the photo can be used and for how long. But, I have to say that when one of your first is used, it is really exciting. How did they find the photo? Activerain of course.
Yesterday was the big day, I got my new Nikon D90 in the mail and I have to say I couldn't sleep. I wanted to take a picture, so I drove some 25 miles inthe middle of the night to do it. nikon d90: What you see isn’t always what you get… My 2010 present to myself and hopefully to you as well
- 01/16/10 01:39 AM
This upcoming Thursday will be the hopefully the last day of what I see and what I get will not being the same thing. You see for the past two years I’ve been using the Kodak Z730 instant digital camera, though a nice camera the problem was when I wanted a photo of something it didn’t always turn out like I hoped or envisioned. But, this Thursday, I will be getting my new Nikon D90 camera voted the number one SDLR camera out there that isn’t a professional model by consumer reports. Now, I’m really hoping to capture some of those pictures that (23 comments)
