With all the recent rain here in Oregon, I believe we are at 56 out of the last 65 days, land slides are becoming a huge problem. Especially for those who build upon rivers and mountain sides.
Though they have a great view, the place where they built is slowly being washed away. Now, my parents have been lucky, they have the view, but no signs of errosion yet. Now, their neighbors on the other hand, have loss the use of their deck by order of the county.

Recently, one of my clients got real lucky when they went to buy some kitchen cabinets.  Instead of making a huge commission and keeping their mouth shut, the salesman advised my clients that they should talk to another department at the county.
You see, what had happened was my clients were looking to have a daycare in their basement and was given the green light on that as long as it had its own kitchen since there was going to be more than 5 children in this daycare. Have you ever had a strange experience with a listing agent? So strange that when you were done, just had that look on your face that asks, "Are you serious?"
Well, I can say I just recently had one of those experiences and even my buyer's called me afterward and asked if the agent was "Off her rocker". The sad part is, I couldn't disagree with them.
This agent was speaking for the seller and was trying to convince the buyers that they needed to sign a waiver on the home and that it was safe and didn't need permits. She said that … (31 comments)

We all have done it, a little work here, a little work there, heck it is our own house right? But, when does that little work around the house go from little work to needing a permit?
Well, that isn't a question I can answer easily, because each city has a different set of guidelines to what has to be permitted and what doesn't.
