photography: Where or where did my Oregon sun go? - 08/02/11 05:20 AM

This is how I felt with this flower as we watched it enjoying the sun. Then that darn sun went behind a cloud and then it looked like that poor flower was begging for the sun to come back as it leaned toward where the sun used to be coming from. Now, I know it was only the wind blowing it that direction, but still, it still was looking like it was missing it. (No worries, it got it back 2 minutes later when the cloud decided to move on)

photography: Daisy, Daisy, how does your garden grow? - 07/24/11 04:11 PM
Daisy, Daisy, how does your garden grow? Well according to this daisy, the garden is growing pretty darn well. We came across this sea of daisies while on the drive to pick up my daughter at Girl Scout camp and my wife said we had to get pictures. So, a few cuts and scrapes later, I got my pictures and we were back on the road again to pick up my daughter.

photography: Old barns of Washington County, Oregon a walk through history - 07/21/11 05:41 AM
Old barns of Washington County, Oregon a walk through history and I invite you along for the ride. As you drive the outskirts of Washington County, you come across a lot of old barns and in some cases these barns are over 100 years old. I love driving through the farm country of Oregon and just enjoying the beauty of not having a house every 13 feet.

photography: A touch of pink - 07/19/11 09:16 AM

I love flowers, despite being allergic to them. But, as a photographer, I love the beauty of each and every one of them. The Tulip was an example of one of nature’s beauties and I when I saw it, I new I had to find a special way to highlight it.

photography: Oh, that sun feels so nice! - 07/10/11 06:49 PM

Some flowers just look like they were built to soak in the sun on a warm summer day. That is exactly how I felt this flower was acting today when I took its picture. Today was the 9th day in a row without rain and the sad part is we haven’t had that since last July. So soak up that sun while you can, you don’t know when it is going to go away again.

photography: Sometimes you have more questions than answers - 07/10/11 01:34 PM
Sometimes you have more questions than answers when you are out photographing nature. That was the case on this day as well, as we were in the middle of the Happy Valley Nature Park in Clackamas County.
You see right in the middle of this park a ½ mile up this hill beside a creek bed was this 1934 truck. It clearly had been there for years, maybe even since the late 30s. But, still, you have to wonder how it got there, because even my Jeep would be hard pressed to make it to where this truck was parked. So, … (10 comments)

photography: The mountain watches over all - 07/08/11 04:58 AM
Sometimes you have to wonder as you sit there in the field about the mountain as it sits there watching over us. Here in Oregon for those old enough to remember, Mount Saint Helens blew in 1980 and we also know that Mt. Hood could do the same thing one day.
Though it has a beauty beyond compare, it still has the power the blow any day it wants. Though she watches over us, we watch her.

photography: My friend Mr. Butterfly, finally landed - 07/02/11 01:29 PM
Sometimes photographing nature isn’t always that easy, especially when your subject, doesn't want to cooperate. Today, while out with the kids, this is how I felt with this little guy. I was trying to get a shot of him for nearly a ½ hour before I finally got this shot. To be honest, during that whole time, I really thought I was going to get one of him landing on my finger, because he just kept flying around me.

photography: The spring flowers of Oregon - 06/14/11 07:32 PM
There is something about spring in Oregon, even if it does seem to be arriving a little late this year. We had many baseball games cancelled due to rain and the weather has been darn cold. Spring finally has finally arrived and I’ve gotten to take my camera out and catch some of its beauty and then share it with you.

photography: Oh, I have so loved this weather this last week here in Beaverton, Oregon - 06/10/11 06:15 PM
Though we thought it would never arrive, this last week we actually got to see the sun again. We have now had 7 out of the last 8 days without rain. Now, this may not seem significant to you, but we haven’t had seven days of dry weather in the last six months! I think we had 173 days of rain out of the past 180 days, this sun is needed!
So, what do you do when you get a dry day in Oregon? You get your camera out and take pictures of what has finally arrived… Beautiful flowers! (About 2 … (10 comments)

photography: The yellow of spring, what an amazing site - 06/06/11 07:17 PM

Here in Oregon, spring has been a little slow to bloom thanks to all the rain and cold weather we have been having in the Pacific Northwest this winter. But, now that we have had a few days of sun and warmer weather, the flowers are really starting to show their true colors. Yes, it does look like we skipped right over spring and jumped in to summer, but, hey, at least we are finally getting the color we have been waiting for. (My camera was starting to get bored)

photography: It doesn’t happen to often here, but when it does… My camera will be out! - 06/06/11 07:18 AM

Last night here in the Beaverton, Oregon area, we got something we don’t see very often… Lightning, but we got it last night and I got my camera out as quickly as I could. Set it up outside, headed back inside with the wireless remote, where I would be safe and started to snap away. Turns out it was well worth my time and I got this shot. Please help me come up with a name for it, won’t you?

photography: The sun has finally arrived in Oregon and with it, it brought some beauty - 05/23/11 07:14 PM

The last six months have been wet, very wet! Our rivers are at flood stages and our patience with the rain is at an end here in the Pacific Northwest. I think out of the last 150 days we had some 135 days of rain. WAY TOO MUCH if you ask me and my family who like to be outside and do outdoor things. But, finally we got our son and it looks like the flowers were waiting for it as well.

photography: Finally our first sunny day in 30 days and here is the amazing pictures we got - 04/01/11 06:24 PM
Yes, it finally happened, we have a sunny day here in Beaverton, Oregon, our first real on in 30 days. It is also the latest we have every gotten a sixty degree day. Now, this is the time to go out, get the camera, and take some amazing spring time photos of Beaverton.
But, there is one little problem… Notice the picture below?

What? You don’t? Well that is because despite having a lens cap on, and a UV filter on, my lens still managed to get damaged enough that I had to take the camera in to the shop. … (28 comments)

photography: Did you remove your sunglasses? - 12/07/10 04:38 AM

This sign reminded me of the present real estate market. I see a lot of hope, but we are in a tunnel that once we are out of it the sun will appear again. But, there are still a lot of slow moving agents in our way that once we reach the otherside of the tunnel they will be behind us because I don't plan to wait for them, I plan to pass them!

photography: The rocks aren’t the only thing red and beautiful in Southern Utah - 11/11/10 04:46 PM

While coming out of a gas station in Southern Utah on our way to Cedar City to meet up with Tony and Darcy Cannon tomorrow morning, this is the amazing sun set we got to witness. It made us look even more forward to tomorrow night as we hit St. George and meet up with our good friend Wanda Kubat-Nerdin.

photography: When doing a camping vacation you sometimes don’t know what to expect - 11/09/10 03:55 PM

I have to say our first night of our vacation was a little rough, we decided to go to a little campground we found on the old iphone and getting there at 11pm was the first part of our mistake. Even though I probably wouldn’t have stayed there had I went there during the day, I did get some great shots out of it. But, for the record don’t turn around are you too might go... uhhhh.

photography: Vacations and finding unusual places go hand in hand, at least for us! - 11/08/10 04:02 PM

One thing I love about vacation is finding unusual places and towns. One of the ones we found accidently on our ventures Glenns Ferry in Idaho. This small little town is where the pioneers crossed the Snake River to get back on their path without taking the harder longer route through the mountains.

This town had so much history as clearly many once across eventually just settled there in the early 1900s. The historic opera house, the saloon that maybe newer, but the building certainly isn’t. Many people had things in their yard from the past … (20 comments)

photography: I’m falling for you - 11/05/10 10:31 AM

Have you ever just sat there looking through the lens of your camera waiting for something to happen? Ever thing why can’t something just happen for me and then Mother Nature decides to say “OK” and give you that perfect shot that if you weren’t looking at it in the view finder after you got the shot you wouldn’t have believed you got it. Well, yesterday Mother Nature was listening and gave me that shot.

Thanks Mother Nature, I owe you one.
