real estate: The 2011 World Series: A chance to bond with my little Cardinal - 10/23/11 02:25 PM

As I write this between innings of the 4th game of the World Series 2011, I realize how nice it is to have something to bond over with my son. If you haven’t figured it out already, I’m a big baseball fan. It is a team sport that unlike any other sport if you aren’t playing together as a team, you just can’t win.
So, here I am cheering on the Cardinals with my son, though they are losing at this point, together we know they can come back and win. They do have the hitting in them as they … (6 comments)

real estate: Lake Oswego Real Estate: Hide and Seek is easy when you have trees this old - 10/23/11 09:07 AM
Lake Oswego Real Estate: Hide and Seek is easy when you have trees this old. While out and about this weekend my kids managed to find a place where they thought they should bring their friends for a great game of hide and seek.
They figured when you have a tree that is big enough that you can actually hide under its roots, that this is the place for them! I do have to admit, I could see them until they popped their head out from under the tree.
If you are interested in buying a home in Lake Oswego, give … (5 comments)

real estate: Clackamas County Real Estate History: What was once first is now lost to time - 10/21/11 06:51 PM
Clackamas County Real Estate History: What was once first is now lost to time. The picture below is a picture of a long abandoned railroad bridge, but what is significant about the bridge is that it was a race to finish it.
Back in the early days of the railroad there were two competing railroads and unlike today’s government where they pay people to create things like this, our government did something that was genius! They took the two railroads and pitted them against each other. One wanted to build a track on the Eastside of the Willamette River and the … (6 comments)

real estate: Clackamas County Real Estate: There is a new sheriff in town or so we thought! - 10/20/11 06:01 AM
Clackamas County Real Estate: There is a new sheriff in town or so we thought! While out Geocaching with the family near local cemeteries we came across what we thought was an old west sheriff. This person had this badge above their tombstone, but upon further investigation we found out that our resident who was born in 1842 wasn’t a sheriff at all.
You see we wanted to investigate this badge since this was the first time I had ever seen this badge placed like this. We were hoping upon investigating our mysterious resident that we were going to find some … (9 comments)

real estate: Clackamas County Real Estate: Exploring Clackamas history - 10/19/11 09:59 AM
One thing I love about being in Real Estate and exploring Clackamas County is with every new location, you find out a little piece of history about that community. With it being Halloween time, my family decided to go to some Clackamas County cemeteries.

The main reason we decided to go to the Clackamas County cemeteries is because of the history of Clackamas County. You see Oregon City is what many consider to be the end of the Oregon Trail and with that we set off on our adventure.
Today we came to the Clackamas Cemetery where came across some … (7 comments)

real estate: Beaverton Oregon Real Estate: Opening doors to home ownership - 10/13/11 09:01 AM
Beaverton Oregon Real Estate: Opening doors to home ownership. Many families are looking to get out of renting, but just need someone to open the door for them. That is where the Friendly Home Team can help.
There are many opportunities for families looking to own a home in Beaverton, Oregon. There are short sales, foreclosures, lease options, owner financing and even traditional sales, but, without some help to look at and understand these different options, those doors may remain closed for some forever.
As the team leader for the Friendly Home Team, we want to help you and your … (5 comments)

real estate: Beaverton Oregon Real Estate: What’s in a name? - 10/13/11 05:00 AM
Beaverton Oregon Real Estate: What’s in a name? Oregon has many names both remembered day in and day out and others that have been lost to time for whatever reason. One of the ways I like to get back in touch with Beaverton history is to visit local cemeteries and check out the names. Often you can tell who the prominent families are by either large family plots or the large grave markers. If a person had a big marker, it usually meant their family had money.

But, what happened to some of these names, what happened to the … (14 comments)

Washington County Real Estate: Finding the perfect Oregon Pumpkin is something that isn’t taken any more serious than by a child. Once they find that perfect pumpkin, they will love that pumpkin and show it off all the way up to Halloween.
But, for parents, the key is finding the perfect pumpkin patch, a pumpkin patch with parking, fun things for kids and great prices. So, to help you out, the Friendly Home Team has come up with this great list of Washington County Pumpkin Patches.

real estate: Beaverton Oregon Real Estate: Don’t look at my nuts - 10/03/11 07:14 AM
Don’t look at my nuts or at least stop looking at me like I am nuts! Over the past couple months we have seen the news reports that real estate prices are starting to climb nationwide, but here in Beaverton, home prices have stayed the same and even dropped in some areas.

This is normal for the Beaverton home market area and we always seem to lag behind the national market. We did this when the market started to fall a couple years ago and we continue on that trend. But, this is why I am telling you the first … (7 comments)

real estate: Are you willing to help those new to real estate? - 10/02/11 05:40 PM
Are you willing to help those new to real estate? Are you willing to mentor those who want to become the best they can be? Personally I love doing it, I love teaching others. Maybe it comes from growing up around teachers, but I truly do love it.
One of the things I love about it is that it keeps me up on my game and keeps me strong with the fundamentals of the business. Sometimes when I have been going awhile without a mentoring someone, I get lax, I forget about what has gotten me where I am today and … (17 comments)

real estate: Like my daughter on her birthday, my marketing has taken aim! - 10/02/11 09:07 AM
This year we did something a little different for my daughter on her 13th birthday. There was no big concerts, big birthday parties, but instead we built her own archery range. She has been at that archery range almost every day.
But, this also reminds me of my marketing. This is something that I need to do every day! I need to take aim at a target, pull back and fire! Now, my daughter still wants to go to a gun range for her friends birthday party and we hope to do that later this week.
Now, this is like marketing … (8 comments)

real estate: The key to getting more business is simple… Answer the phone! - 09/26/11 07:33 PM
Sounds crazy doesn’t it? But, how many of you don’t answer the phone when a potential client calls you? Think about it, do you really answer the phone when you aren’t busy? Well, I keep getting more and more clients because of agents who don’t answer the phone.

I would love to be the first agent these people talk to, but even if I’m not first, second or third, as long as I’m the last agent they talk to that is fine by me. When a person calls me and sounding completely frustrated and says “Thank you, you are the … (94 comments)

real estate: Sometimes red eyes and a running nose are worth it! - 09/17/11 05:00 AM

Having allergies can be a miserable thing, but sometimes there are flowers in this world that just begged to be smelled. That was the case with this flower and my allergies did act up after that quick sniff, it was well worth it! As you look at this flower, let me ask you, could you resist?

real estate: Even thinking about looking for a home got you depressed in Beaverton? Then you haven’t met us! - 09/16/11 03:03 PM

Real estate doesn’t have to be depressing, it can be a fun and a great experience. Just because your buddy had a bad experience, doesn’t mean it has to be that way for you. It tells me that they were working with the wrong agents. My team isn’t just called the Friendly home team, we mean it! We want to become friends, to make it a fun experience and we want you to look forward to every time you see us.
So, if you are looking for a home anywhere in Washington County, give us a call, we are here … (25 comments)

real estate: Are you thinking about making a move, if your last experience wasn’t great, call us! - 09/14/11 06:59 PM

I get many clients who used another agent in the past and when it comes time to sell and move again they decide to make a switch. They call us because they have heard from our past clients that the experience they had with us wasn’t ordinary it was extraordinary and they would never consider using another agent after using the ones on my team, the Friendly Home Team.

Are you thinking about moving, the give us a call, we are here to serve.

real estate: Do you remember your first days in real estate, the day you got your toes wet? - 09/13/11 04:58 AM
Yesterday, I got to experience my nephew on his 4th birthday getting to see and touch the ocean for the first time and though I couldn’t remember my first time at the ocean, I certainly could remember the first house I sold.
Now, like his first statement when he saw the beach “That is a lot of sand, can I play in it?” there was a lot of excitement. That is how I felt when I got my license, boy, there are a lot of houses for sale, can I play?

And just like my nephew taking those slow last … (20 comments)

real estate: North plains, rich in history and community! - 09/07/11 12:43 PM
It was just over 100 years ago that North Plains became North Plains and since that day that rich history and community has always been present. This wonderful community isn’t large, but got its name from Lewis and Clark who called the area the North Tualatin Plains.

The community got a real boost because of the rich farm land and the railroad coming through in the early development of the community. The area around North Plains grew in to large communities, North Plains stayed small and today still has many farms that feed many of the farmer’s markets.

Though … (12 comments)

real estate: Washington County Real Estate: I never thought about Oregon and the Civil War, but yesterday I got a history lesson - 09/06/11 05:57 AM
Washington County Real Estate: I never thought about Oregon and the Civil War, but yesterday I got a history lesson. You see when I think of Oregon and the civil war the only thing that ever came to my mind would be football, but not anymore!
Yesterday while out Geocaching with my family we came across a really cool Geocacher that likes to hide caches near cemeteries and then give you a little history lesson about them. Now, these weren’t just normal cemeteries, these were pioneer cemeteries and many have been hidden to the public for years.
Well, yesterday upon finding … (11 comments)

real estate: Friends, fun and a turtle all thanks to Activerain - 08/23/11 05:18 AM
One thing I’ve always loved about Activerain is the friends I’ve made. A few years ago, I had the chance to teach a class on Activerain up at here office in Vancouver, WA and that is when I got to meet the most amazing person and we have become great friends because of that class.

Well, this past weekend we got to have a great BBQ at my friend Jill Watts' house on the Washougal River in Washougal, WA. Now, this was a great chance to meet her family and even some of her grandkids and mother-in-law.

I do … (12 comments)

real estate: Technology today really does make it easier - 08/15/11 02:23 PM
As I watched my son work and work at this old well trying to get water, I thought about how this is like real estate today. Many years ago you would have to pump and pump and pump, just to get a bucket of water. Today, leads are almost like a faucet, you turn on your computer and there they are waiting for you.
But, a lot of agents don’t use the technology they have been given, they never hook those pipes up to the faucet. There still is work involved, but it certainly is a lot less than it used … (15 comments)
