tigard: It is that time of year again: Washington Squares Breakfast with Santa! - 12/03/11 09:48 AM
This has become a family tradition for us where my whole family, including my parents, all go out to breakfast at the Washington Square Mall and enjoy our time with the big guy… Santa Claus! We get to all enjoy songs, magic and a great breakfast together.
Then afterwards, all the kids go down to sit on Santa’s lap and give them their Christmas wish list which unlike some of the photos I’ve seen online, this gives my kids a smile! Don’t tell the kids, but this year I’ve put on each of their lists one extra item. My son it … (13 comments)

tigard: New home sales are up, but you still have to pay attention to where you build - 11/13/11 03:25 PM

Oregon has seen some recent activity in new home construction that to say the least is encouraging, but in order to make a profit and no go bankrupt like so many builders have in the past 2 years you need to be smart!
Know your numbers is the first thing I can suggest and second is know the area and what is going on in that area. About three years ago a well known builder in the Portland area started a subdivision up in the Clackamas County area of Oregon. Great views, large houses and sales were going great when … (16 comments)

tigard: Forgiveness - 11/01/11 10:23 AM

If you want to be forgiven then you must learn to forgive yourself. We keep hearing on the news that a person can’t forgive another person, but as soon as they something wrong, they ask others for forgiveness. Remember a bridge is something that goes both ways and sometimes you need to give the right away to oncoming traffic in order to pass yourself.

tigard: The key to getting more business is simple… Answer the phone! - 09/27/11 02:33 AM
Sounds crazy doesn’t it? But, how many of you don’t answer the phone when a potential client calls you? Think about it, do you really answer the phone when you aren’t busy? Well, I keep getting more and more clients because of agents who don’t answer the phone.

I would love to be the first agent these people talk to, but even if I’m not first, second or third, as long as I’m the last agent they talk to that is fine by me. When a person calls me and sounding completely frustrated and says “Thank you, you are the … (94 comments)

tigard: Bull Mountain: A little history from the top - 09/15/11 09:44 AM

Now, I grew up on Bull Mountain in Tigard, Oregon and I had heard stories of farmers, ranchers and cattle which all made sense since I did a lot of horse riding up there when I was younger. (This was long before the housing boom) I promise in the late 70s and 80s there were hundreds of acres of farm land still on Bull Mountain and I rode ever inch of them!
So, yesterday, when I took my kids to my old stomping ground we found something new at a Elizabeth Price Park within all these housing developments. What we … (18 comments)

tigard: I Found My Thrill On Blueberry Hill - 08/05/11 12:04 PM
"I Found My Thrill On Blueberry Hill" and I have to say I really am enjoying the results. If you are in Oregon this time of the year then you need to try fresh blueberries in everything from muffins, pancakes, waffles , cookies and my favorite pies.
Now I’m a big fan of most things with blueberries, now we are real lucky this year with our weather and unlike the rest of the country we haven’t had a 90 degree day yet. So this makes it perfect for picking blueberries.

So, if you are in the Tigard / Beaverton area … (16 comments)

tigard: If your home is overpriced and doesn’t sell, it now could cost you even more in Tigard, Oregon! - 07/20/11 11:55 PM
If your home is overpriced and doesn’t sell, it now could cost you even more in Tigard, Oregon! It seems the local government is now following the MLS and if your home doesn’t sell, they are coming knocking on the doors of home owners and telling them their tax bills are going up.
What, how is this possible? You see, it seems the Tigard tax assessor is watching the MLS and looking for discrepancies between what is listed on the MLS and what they have on the tax books. So, if you have been paying taxes on a 3 bed room … (13 comments)

tigard: Summer on the farm in Oregon - 07/01/11 09:31 PM
One of the things I remember the most about summer on the farm as a kid was wheat fields. Though I didn’t live on a farm myself, my backyard was next to a lot of farms and I was on those all the time. I would ride horses almost every day during the summer months of my junior high and high school days.
This picture just reminded me of those way too short summer months walking across the wheat field to the barn where I would get the horse and go riding from early morning until late in the evening. Boy, … (18 comments)

tigard: Buying a home in Beaverton or Tigard, Oregon? Do you know where to donate blood? - 06/28/11 02:02 AM

When buying a home in Beaverton or Tigard, Oregon one of the things to consider is how close the ammenities are. When I bought my last home, some of those ammenities included how close the home was to my church and a place to donate blood. I believe in giving back and donating blood is one way I can do that. The Americna Red Cross needs your blood, no matter what type. So instead of saying "Oh, I'll donated next week" and then never donating, go out today and donate while you have the time and are thinking about it.

tigard: What a deck! I’m so envious of these people! - 04/06/11 01:17 AM

I do have to say these guys know their decks having been on probably hundreds in their lives. But, they can’t get this home because they aren’t allowed to sign the loan documents. But, heck that doesn’t mean you can’t buy your own home with a beautiful deck that others can envy.
Call or email Todd Clark and the Friendly Home team today and let us help you find that perfect home with that amazing deck for your family.

tigard: It maybe raining, but when it rains it pours. (Pours a great deal that is!) - 04/05/11 02:27 PM

In Beaverton over the past month it has rained and rained a lot! The fact is we had 30 days in a row of rain and that took a toll on real estate. HOW? Well, it seems buyers wanted to stay in and not look at homes. Were they afraid they were going to melt if they got wet? Who knows!

But, for the buyers who did venture out, they were able to find some great deals. WHY? The main reason is sellers were noticing less activity as well and because of that they were considering offers they wouldn’t … (13 comments)

tigard: Is real estate for the birds? - 04/05/11 01:46 AM

In my humble opinion, I don’t think real estate is for the birds at all. I think everyone should have the chance to own a home and there is no better time than right now. We are seeing prices we haven’t seen in Portland since 2005, we are just waiting for these historically low interest rates to climb, so don’t wait.

Did you know that a ½ percent hike in interest rates would take more than a $10,000 price cut in home prices to equal the same house payments per month? Price isn’t everything, because what you are saving … (10 comments)
