This week from June 29-July 2 will be the men's North & South Amateur Championships golf tournament in Pinehurst.
Now that the Pinehurst No. 2 renovation back to the original Donald Ross design is complete, it is ready for the men's North & South Amateur Championship. The championship will consist of 64 players and will be by invitation only. All players must maintain an amateur status as defined by the USGA.

While shopping for homes in Pinehurst two years ago this couple really wanted a 3 car garage or a 2 car plus a golf cart garage. We looked at lots of homes with 2 garages and homes with 3 car garages. The also originally wanted golf front - after all we are in Pinehurst.

Recently I was showing a home on the famous Pinehurst No. 2 golf course and decided to walk up the hill to take a quick video. Thanks to a local golfer and one I follow on Twitter @PinehurstGolfer - he commented this on my YouTube account "Remember they did not have large earth moving equipment when Pinehurst No. 2 was build. If you are a golfer you have probably heard of Pinehurst's most well known course No.2  - and it has a new look.
Today was a perfect day in Pinehurst to get out and play the newly famous Pinehurst No. 2 golf course. Temperatures were in the 60's and the dogwood trees were blooming all over.

Spring in Pinehurst is such a beautiful sight.
Driving around this past few weeks we have seen some beautiful flowering trees reminding us daily that spring is here in Pinehurst.
These cherry trees are along one of the major arteries in Pinehurst and it is such a sight to see driving to your destination.
It is too bad cherry trees don't last all that long though we are now seeing the dogwood trees in bloom and that should last a bit longer. Stay tuned for more pictures of the dogwoods.

The Polustris Festival began Thursday March 24 and will continue through Sunday March 27th.
Today, March 26 hosts a variety of events including a wildlife photo exhibit at the Weymouth Woods Sandhills Nature Preserve from 8AM to 5 PM. Admission is free and the Nature Preserve is located at 1024 Fort Bragg Rd. in Southern Pines and the phone number for any questions is 910-692-2167.

The past few weeks the flowering trees have been bursting with color in Pinehurst and the Bradford Pears are as beautiful as ever this spring.
Today driving to a tennis match at the gated golf community of National in Pinehurst I had to stop and snap a picture of the Bradford Pear trees at the clubhouse. The trees seem to be more beautiful than ever this year and due to the warm weather are blooming earlier than usual.

pinehurst: Spring Continues in Pinehurst at The Country Club of North Carolina (CCNC) - 03/12/11 10:20 AM
Showing homes yesterday in Pinehurst I had to stop and take a photo of this weeping cherry tree along a small stream in CCNC. It was a great day to look at houses and enjoy all the spring colors coming out.
My client also enjoyed the spring time on display in Pinehurst as she is investigating to see if she want to make Pinehurst her full time or part time home. I think Pinehurst and CCNC left a very good impression as it is very beautiful this time of year and all year round.

Driving into the office this past week I found more sings of spring in Pinehurst.
While I was driving into the office one day last week I had to stop by this parking lot and take some pictures.
The parking lot was full of Bradford Pear trees in full bloom. What an absolutely stunning site to see with the blue skies to set off the beautiful white flowers.
Come to Pinehurst to see all the blooming sites of the spring.

Every wonder where Pinehurst got its name?
Well actually I don't really know the full answer to that question - though I will guess it has something to do with all the pine trees. The most favored of these trees is the Longleaf Pine. As its name describes it has longer than most pine trees and they also have larger than average pine cones.
When the needles fall and turn a reddish brown they are collected and used for ground cover. They provide a cover for the sandy soil and are low maintenance compared to a grass covered lawn.

pinehurst: Golfers and flowers were Popping Up in this Spring Like Day in Pinehurst - 02/27/11 11:07 AM
It was more like early summer in Pinehurst today and the golfers were taking advantage and the flowers are blooming.
With the 80 degree temperatures and the sun shining bright - golfers and flowers started popping up everywhere. Driving around the many golf courses we saw golf carts buzzing around from hole to hole and the buds in the trees starting to bloom.

I often talk about Pinehurst as if the Village and the Resort and Country Club are one in the same. And visitors to the area may come to the same conclusion. However they are two distinctly different entities that work well together.
The Pinehurst Resort began in 1895 by James Tufts.  It has 3 hotels, 44 Villa Rooms, and 30 condos. There are 8 - 18 hole golf courses including the famous Pinehurst #2 golf course. There is a public golf clubhouse with the Donald Ross Grill for dining, and a private members club with locker rooms, dining and meeting rooms.
