What Home Sellers Should Know . . . Interior Garage Door Damage - 04/30/12 12:31 PM
As many of you know, I practice exclusive buyer agency.  I've not taken a listing in over 10 years.
That said, I know what I would be telling my clients, the sellers, if I did take listing.  Some discussion would be about the home inspections . . . which we know are coming!
I'd try to point out what I feel would be items of concern and have them try to taken care of the PRIOR TO a home inspection.
Today my "What Home Sellers Should Know" topic is:
Interior Garage Door Damage
An interior garage door is a door that … (9 comments)

Speechless Sunday . . . What a Predicament - 04/29/12 03:07 PM
Last week I did a little yard work.  When the yard debris bin was full, I made little piles of leaves, weeds, pine needles throughout the yard -- to be picked up when the bin was emptied.
Today, I needed to step away from the computer and thought it was as good a time as any to continue with my yard chores.  As I was working my way around the yard, picking up the piles of yard debris I had made, I noticed a predicament.
My cat BB found a very nice, comfy bed in one of the piles.
Good thing I … (11 comments)

I Don't Want To Talk To You - 04/19/12 02:26 PM
This is a GREAT post.
It's EXACTLY why buyers in the Portland Metro agent NEED to have their own agent -- a Buyers Agent but more specifically, an EXCLUSIVE Buyers Agent.
No disrespect to Candy, but this is EXACTLY what Buyers DO WRONG -- they ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS -- to the listing agent, no less.

·  "Hi, I'm Candy with ABC Realty. Can I get you to sign in please? Thank you. How did you hear about today's openhouse"?

My advice to Represented Buyers:  Sign in and indicate you are BEING REPRESENTED BY YOUR AGENT!  You heard about … (10 comments)

On the Cover of the Rolling Stone . . . err I mean . . . the New Yorker - 04/19/12 01:06 PM
I think this will be my "traditional" ActiveRain post each April 19th.
I wrote this last year:  Today is my birthday.  I was born April 19, 1958.  Don't know how I stumbled upon this copy of The New Yorker several years ago, but it's a reminder to me that sometimes we are born to do what we do.  I love this cover graphic, and love it even more with the date!!  (Price 25 cents!)
For this year, I have a fun party game.  And in the manner of "mind benders" posted by our Dawn Fabiszak, the party game is:
My son gave me … (17 comments)

Wordless Wednesday . . . Portland's Mayor Sam Adams - 04/18/12 10:37 AM

It's always nice when the mayors of our fair cities get out and about, enjoy the fun happenings in their cities and mingle.
Last evening, Portland's Mayor Sam Adams was not all work and had a little time to play a friendly game of trivia, that my son Carlson Muss, hosted.
Carlson has a trivia company -- There Will Be Trivia -- that puts on and hosts GREAT trivia nights.
This is from Carlson's Facebook page:
"Pleased to have Portland Mayor Sam Adams play my Trivia game tonight at Joe's Cellar. Unfortunately for him the categories tonight were Republicans and Frances … (10 comments)

Today is National Pet Day -- Fun Things To Do On Facebook
The numbers of animals that are euthanized in the USA every single day is staggering.  I don't want to tell you what that number is -- unbelievable.
For those that love pets, value the unspoken love they give and cherish the spirits of all creatures . . . let's not talk about the sad realities.  Let's focus on the good things that pets bring and the good and nice people who care.
Today is National Pet Day and there's a ton of fun things to do on Facebook and … (7 comments)

Email From Former Client . . . "What Can We Do With Our Dog?" - 04/09/12 01:17 PM
Last week I received an email from a former client.  The email was about how frustrated they had become with their elder dog's behaviour.  They wanted to know if I knew anyone interested in their dog.   Apparently, the elder dog was continuing to have some behavior problems which were getting worse.    Unfortunately, they got a second dog a year or so ago and the elder dog didn't take too kindly to the newest member of the "pack."   Although I lost my beloved Poppy dog in September last year, I am unable to take on another pet.  Why?  Because I know my … (19 comments)

Oregon Friends of Shelter Animals OFOSA Does Work Wonders in Washington County
It's too late for the March 31st event with the Oregon Friends of Shelter Animals OFOSA ... unfortunately I didn't know this organization existed until a few nights ago when I saw their public service announcement on TV.  The March 31st event was a fund raising auction.
But that doesn't mean OFOSA (Oregon Friends of Shelter Animals) won't have more worthwhile events in Portland.  As a matter of act, pet adoption clinics are held every Saturday.
OFOSA offers the following:
ADOPTIONS:  Oregon Friends of Shelter Animals adoption services are held EVERY … (8 comments)
