My Moose-ly Positive Experience in Red Lodge, Montana
The following post is the continuation of: Moose Monday - Going on a Moose Chase in Red Lodge, Montana
After pausing and looking towards me, the bull moose decided to run on Ski Run Road and he picked up lots of speed!  I was wondering whether I had b.o. (I had not had time to shower yet that morning) and he could smell it from 100 yards away or if he did not recognize the type of car I was in and beileve it to be a very large predator.  As much as I could step on the accelerator … (19 comments)

red lodge mountain: Moose Monday - Going on a Moose Chase in Red Lodge, Montana - 10/19/09 12:00 PM
This post continues where my previous Moose post (Moose Monday - Big Bull Moose in Big Sky Country!) left off.
By the time I got in the car, a couple of minutes had already gone since my bull moose sighting.  Will I get the chance to find him to take some more photos?  I am thinking to myself, he should not be difficult to spot with his impressive size and Mother Nature's recent painting of the ground in a bright white.  Wait!  I can see some moose tracks on the snow!   It looks like he was headed South towards Ski Run Road.   I am hoping he did not go too … (22 comments)

red lodge mountain: Peaks to Prairie - 04/25/09 02:39 PM
Peaks to Prairie is a triathlon that takes place at the end of April of each year and starts at the base of the Beartooth Mountains just South of Red Lodge, Montana.
The event consists of 8.8 miles of running, 43 miles of biking, and 22 miles of kayaking.  There are athletes that compete in all 3 events (true triathlon) while others form a team and each person of the team takes on one event.  The competitors can also participate in a duathlon that covers the first two legs only.
The run starts beneath the beautiful Beartooth Mountains and goes through the town of Red Lodge where residents and spectators cheer for the runners.  The … (3 comments)

red lodge mountain: Speechless Sunday - Last Day for Skiing at Red Lodge Mountain - 04/19/09 11:53 AM
Today is the last day for skiing at Red Lodge Mountain resort.  I am headed to the mountain but I decided to mark this occasion by posting a photo of Red Lodge Mountain.
The mountain resort will be getting ready for golf soon.  You can check out their website at http://www.redlodgemountain.com/  to start planning for a golf outing or vacation in Red Lodge.
Today being Sunday, I normally would post a Speechless Sunday photo with my copyright and signature underneath it.   However, I made the decision that I will start posting a description with my photos to give the online community more details about the photo.  I hope you will still find … (14 comments)

red lodge mountain: Spring Skiing at Red Lodge Mountain - 04/13/09 01:53 AM
It was a beautiful sunny day in Red Lodge, Montana.  I decided to get my skis, boots and poles and head out to Red Lodge Mountain for some spring skiing.  After a short 5 mile drive from the south of the town of Red Lodge, I arrived to the following entrance sign.

Another mile and I made it to the parking area where there was plenty of places to park.   This is the view that was awaiting me from the parking area.

After a quick walk I was at the chair lift and without waiting, I was on my way up and headed towards a … (6 comments)

red lodge mountain: Sunset Behind Red Lodge Mountain - 03/05/09 04:08 PM
I went to Beartooth Market (201 N. Oakes, Red Lodge, MT) after work to pick up some groceries.  As I was getting out of the car, my eyes were immediately drawn to the spectacular colors of the sunset behind Red Lodge Mountain.   The following are my photos of the beautiful sunset taken on March 4, 2009 at 6:02pm Mountain Time.   It's good to be here!!

red lodge mountain: Big Sky Sunrise - Red Lodge, Montana - 02/24/09 04:38 AM
After posting sunset photos in my last post Big Sky Sunset - Red Lodge, Montana, I thought it would be appropriate to follow up with a post with sunrise photos.  They are photos of the sunrise (clouds attached) taken on September 25, 2008 taken from the Grizzly Peak subdivision and close to Ski Run (the 6 miles road which leads to Red Lodge Mountain).  The sun is rising from behind the Pryor Mountains.  It was the beginning of another beautiful day in Red Lodge, MT.  As in my last post, I am showcasing a broader view of the scenery and the sky in my first photo and a close-up view of the same sky in … (23 comments)

red lodge mountain: Big Sky Sunset - Red Lodge, Montana - 02/22/09 09:07 AM
I recently joined the groups Spectacular Sunsets & Sunrises (started by Kent Simpson on 2/1/2009) and Clouds at ActiveRain (clouds attached) (started by Robert A. Swetz on 9/23/2008).   Feel free to click on the previous links and join these groups.  What better place to share your best photos of sunrises, sunsets and clouds on AR!
The following post is my first contribution to both of these groups.  They are photos of the sunset (clouds attached) taken on June 8, 2008 when I took my dogs out for a walk on the Rodeo grounds in Red Lodge, MT.  You can see Red Lodge Mountain and some of the ski trails on the left hand side of … (34 comments)
