red lodge: Spectacular Sunrise - Red Lodge, Montana - 02/28/09 05:31 PM
One of the simple joys of living in Red Lodge, Montana that I like is to wake up a few minutes before sunrise so that I can see the beginning of the day come to life. I love the smell of fresh air in the morning and the reflection of the light on the snow at sunrise especially after receiving a fresh coat of snow the night before. This feeling and morning scenery can best be described by the following photos.

red lodge: Just Take a Moment and Enjoy! - 02/27/09 03:24 PM
This was the scenery on February 26, 2009 as I was driving to work. This photo was taken from the Grizzly Peak Mountain Homes subdivision. It was the beginning of another beautiful day in Red Lodge, Montana. It's Good to Be Here!!

red lodge: Majestic Magpie Morning - 02/26/09 06:24 PM
The beauty of the simple things in life is everywhere around us. We just had a fresh coat of snow this morning in Red Lodge, Montana. Mother Nature had the following surprise for me as I was driving to work this morning.
Between the powder snow covered branches of a tree, lied a black-billed magpie looking majectic with it's very long tail feathers. I was lucky enough to stop my car and admire it for an entire minute (no traffic whatsoever to worry about on the unpaved road I was on). Displaying one of the common traits of a blogger, I was carrying (31 comments)
red lodge: Presenting Sir Barkley - 02/24/09 07:38 PM
The following photo is a close-up photo of Sir Barkley. Doesn't he look regal? (that's how he got the title "Sir").
He is a healthy 3 years old Australian Shepherd (Blue Merle). He comes from a a county shelter in Fresno, California. He is a joy to have around the house and demands lots of attention. If he is not getting enough attention, he will growl (like a motor engine running) and will come and paw at you till he gets it. He is very intelligent and very energetic. He loves to run back and forth and around the outside of the house. His (33 comments)
red lodge: Big Sky Sunrise - Red Lodge, Montana - 02/24/09 04:38 AM
After posting sunset photos in my last post Big Sky Sunset - Red Lodge, Montana, I thought it would be appropriate to follow up with a post with sunrise photos. They are photos of the sunrise (clouds attached) taken on September 25, 2008 taken from the Grizzly Peak subdivision and close to Ski Run (the 6 miles road which leads to Red Lodge Mountain). The sun is rising from behind the Pryor Mountains. It was the beginning of another beautiful day in Red Lodge, MT. As in my last post, I am showcasing a broader view of the scenery and the sky in my first photo and a close-up view of the same sky in (23 comments)

I recently joined the groups Spectacular Sunsets & Sunrises (started by Kent Simpson on 2/1/2009) and Clouds at ActiveRain (clouds attached) (started by Robert A. Swetz on 9/23/2008). Feel free to click on the previous links and join these groups. What better place to share your best photos of sunrises, sunsets and clouds on AR! The following post is my first contribution to both of these groups. They are photos of the sunset (clouds attached) taken on June 8, 2008 when I took my dogs out for a walk on the Rodeo grounds in Red Lodge, MT. You can see Red Lodge Mountain and some of the ski trails on the left hand side of (34 comments)
For an explanation of absorption rate and how it is calculated, see last month's post: City of Red-Lodge Market Statistics for Residential at Year End 2008 Please note that the absorption rate is not a guarantee of the time it would actually take to sell a property.
I also have the absorption rate statistics broken down by price range for Residential and by acreage for Vacant Land. Feel free to contact me if you are interested to get an estimate (based on the inventory and the latest trends) (0 comments)

Chief Plenty Coups' bronze sculpture lies near the Chamber of Commerce and is located North or town, near the intersection of 3rd Street (Highway 78) and Broadway Ave (Highway 212). The following is a quote from Linderman's biography of Plenty Coups which is also shown on the permanent plaque near the monument. "The buffalo gone and freedom denied him, the Indian was visited by two equally hideous strangers, famine and tuberculosis. He could cope with neither. His pride broken he felt himself and outcast, a beggar in his own country. It was now that Plenty Coups became the real leader (11 comments)

* Explanation: The key statistic that I calculated is the absorption rate, the time it would take to sell the current total inventory at the present rate of sales. For my calculations, I determined the present rate of sales based on data retrieved for 4 different periods (latest 12 months, 6 months, 3 months and one month sales). Most would only look at the last month's sales to get the present rate of sales, but by looking at the 4 chosen different periods, we get a better (8 comments)
red lodge: City of Red Lodge Market Statistics for Residential at Year End 2008 - 12/31/08 01:44 AM
I decided to take Mirela Monte's advice from her post entitled: How Posting Easy Market Statistics For Your Area Can Garner You Valuable Leads . The key statistic that I calculated is the absorption rate, the time it would take to sell the current total inventory at the present rate of sales. red lodge: Why Would Anyone Be Motivated to Upload Photos to Localism? - 12/26/08 04:31 PM
I learned that in the past, AR members received points for uploading pictures and that was a very fast way to accumulate points. But, the point were discontinued because people where uploading all kinds of photos simply to earn points and quantity was favored at the expense of quality. The following are the real reasons why you should consider uploading some pictures to Localism: • Promote Your Town Via Pictures on the Internet In my case, there were no photos of Red Lodge, Montana, so I took it upon myself to promote my town by uploading some of the best (7 comments)

red lodge: Visit a New Town Virtually Thanks to Localism - 12/02/08 03:43 PM
Localism is Active Rain's sister website. To know more about it, you can check the following post: What is Localism? Localism has lots of images of cities in the US and Canada that can be accessed from anywhere and any time to get a feel for the town. It's like taking a virtual tour of a city. This can be very helpful with those of you who have clients who are looking to relocate to a new town. In this, my first post (I joined Active Rain on November 21, 2008), I would like to explain how to access and view (56 comments)
