Legislative update in IL for investors and landlords.
HB1195 and SB2101 both create the Illinois Land Banking Act.  (SEE CALL TO ACTION BELOW): 
At this time, IRPOA is opposed to this legislation.  This legislation authorizes a municipality to create a land bank authority power. Authorizes a land bank authority to acquire property and issue bonds and requires the county clerk to send notice of the sale of real property to the municipal clerk under specified circumstances. In the latest bastion of tricks to try and silence Americans and limit freedom of speech even more, the latest House Bill introduced into Congress, H.R. 1966, is known as the Megan Meier Cyberbullying Prevention Act.
To sum up this bill:
Whoever transmits in interstate or foreign commerce any communication, with the intent to coerce, intimidate, harass, or cause substantial emotional distress to a person, using electronic means to support severe, repeated, and hostile behavior, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.

401(k) funds are not allowing some investors to access THEIR money.  Investors trying to pull cash out of their 401(k)'s or trying to move their investments around are seeing resistance.  They are being locked down as some of their investments are being frozen in certain plans.  Talk about control!

Brrrrr Man!  I can't get to my money!
Instead of having access to YOUR money, you are going to have to pray that you will not watch it dwindle to ZERO.   This is what happens when you have no control over your retirement funds by putting it in the hands of 'the financial experts.'

Happy Birthday to Alex Van Halen!  Alex turns 54 years young today and still rockin' as a premiere drummer.  Here is a bird's eye view of Alex's drum kit.  You will see at the bottom of the picture, the gong in which he sets on fire during concerts.  

If you want to see an amazing drum solo, watch his performance on Van Halen's Live DVD, Right Here, Right Now, recorded on Van Halen's 1991-92 For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge Tour.  This tour was the first time I saw VH in concert, but certainly not my last!

Here is an interesting article I read on coffee.  For all you coffee lovers out there who share in this epicurean delight, you will be happy to know it does have health benefits.  For those who do not drink it, I'm sorry, but you are losing out on one of the finest beverages this side of the universe.

This was an ad posted in today's Washington Times Newspaper.  There are now over 120 co-sponsors for H.R. 1207.  I continue to encourage you to call your State Representative and Senators and tell them to support H.R. 1207.  This is an enormous piece of legislation, perhaps the biggest in our nations history!

Foreclosures Halted Here - 05/06/09 08:38 AM
South Carolina became the first state with a court-order to stop sales of foreclosed homes.  South Carolina's highest court issued a junction to temporarily halt all foreclosures so homeowners can take advantage of the new federal program to help people refinance their homes.
This is the first court-order to stop an entire State.  No judge can finalize foreclosure sales guaranteed by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac along with other entities that are in the federal assistance program.  This ruling could affect 5000 homes.
The court-order does not mention which mortgagors will be eligible for this relief.  These mortgagors could be denied the right due … (4 comments)

China is deeply concerned about America's troubled economy so they decided to "cancel America's credit card" by limiting their purchase of our debt.  China has the world's largest foreign reserves, mostly in dollars along with $800 billion in T-Bonds.  
Investor's in China have pulled back from purchasing bonds starting this past January.  Representative Mark Kirk a member of the House Appropriations Committee stated, China had "very legitimate" concerns about its investments.

Right now our dollar is worth about .04/1.00 due to inflation over the years.  With our current economic status, a potential $3+ Trillion proposed budget, and our paper currency not being backed by any intrinsic commodity, I am curious to know how all of you are preparing for the continuing devaluation of the U.S. Dollar.

I'm writing this based on reading posts in a forum.  Heed my words!
For those who are new to investing, heed my advice, do not start with buy and hold unless you have cash reserves to support vacancies and maintenance.  I read and hear many stories of people wanting to start investing as they throw out cash flow numbers that seem to be the answer to their financial problems.
