To all agents of Illinois, state legislation has just approved this mandate requiring Carbon Monoxide detectors in all Illinois residences beginning January 1. That goes for rental units as well. This news release was sent from the Associated Press on the 'hint' (its always a hint) that the Fed would not be lowering their short term rates. Has anyone actually used this program designed for first time homebuyers sponsored by the City of Chicago? I met a lender who has done a ton and he says they are for real. The city will give 4% of the loan back to first time buyers towards closing costs or points. Who (2 comments)

CNN news reported there was a big rate drop last night bringing the national average BELOW where we were a year ago. Today's average 30 year mortgage is at 6.18% versus 6.28%.Buying and borrowing has not been this good in a long time. It's about time! (1 comments)

The Wall Street Journal interviewed national economists whopredicted a slight (2.8%) increase in home prices this year. They also on average predicted a 0.5% fall in home prices next year. This bit of news was just realeased by Crains: New condo sales down again in 3QSales of new condos and townhouses downtown fell 35% to 1,324 in the third quarter compared to the year-earlier period.
