Is your email being monitored?
Often agents use the email addresses that are provided by their agencies (i.e. JoeRealtor@xyzrealty.com). In my opinion, it does add to creating a professional image versus using a hotmail account etc...
However, here's something to consider:
Is you agency monitoring all your emails &/or are they deciding what emails to block?
Admittedly, I send out a lot of mass emails. Some are new listings & some are informational. For the most part, I think I use a good balance. I recently noticed that an entire agency opted out of my mailings (about 140 agents). At first I thought... no big deal. After considering it further, shouldn't it be up to the individual agent to decide what they want to read? Who they want to block etc..?
Fortunately, this does not happen at my agency, but if it did. I would not use their email address at all. I believe that the right answer is to have you own domain/email anyway. (i.e. marty@remorealty.com ).
Maybe the agencies are affraid that their agents may receive a better offer from another agency or the agent will suddenly become aware of a new product or service that is not provided by the agent's existing company....either way it should be up to the individual to decide for themselves.
