Oh boy, here it comes....Halloween in Amherst Village

 
Halloween has been a big deal in Amherst Village for some time. Kids and adults come from all over the area to go trick or treating in the village. It is a great time for all.
 
Some of the roads in Amherst are closed for the evening and the the Village is packed with goblins and ghouls, princesses and all kinds of fun costumes. This is serious business folks...You can tell many of the costumes are hand made and the attention to detail is clear.

We have lived in Amherst for over 15 years and just love the character of the town...with access to shopping and most anything you need within minutes, yet it maintains its rural and country feel.
We lived in historic Amherst Village for years, raising our son in town.  Some of my favorite things to do on the Amherst Village Green:
They flood a field in town where families can go and ice skate (I liked that since you didn't worry about it being frozen and someone falling through the ice)

Residents of Amherst gathered and celebrated the town's 250th anniversary yesterday. Many joined together on the village green to celebrate Heritage Days.
Some interesting comments from townsfolk were...
A resident who moved to Amherst 33 years ago from California for work, said he and his wife first assumed they would only live in the town for a few years, but soon found they wanted to stay.
