social media: Using "REALTOR®" Online -- Know The Rules! - 08/23/11 12:43 PM
Many of you know that I'm online a lot. A lot...
Now, I don't mean I turn on my computer and occasionally check my email or post on Facebook once a week. No...I am online ALL DAY. From the time I arrive at work until I decide it is time to leave, I am online. And, then I go home...and spend the evening online once my kids go to bed. I'm pretty much an addict.
And, one thing I continually see online is real estate agents using the power of the internet to help them promote their business.
All well and … (124 comments)

social media: Social Media in Plain English - 02/15/10 07:52 AM
Social Media in Plain English Now that I am working closely with several people in my local area in teaching businesses the power of social media, I am constantly on the hunt for new, innovative ways to explain why they should be involved in networks like Twitter and Facebook, etc...This is one of the best examples I have ever found as to why social media exists, why it works, and why so many are turning towards it to help build their businesses!!

social media: Confessions of a Tweetaholic! - 09/15/09 07:29 AM
Ok...I have a confession to make: I am a Tweetaholic.
More than that, I'm a BAD Tweetaholic.  I don't mean that I'm highly addicted to social networking (although that is certainly true).  I mean that I am guilty of using Twitter incorrectly.
Yup.  I'm a bad tweeter.
Twitter was originally designed as a micro-blog - a short snip-it of what is occurring in your life at this exact moment stylized in 140 characters or less.  So...nothing worth of a full-blown blog...but, a snapshot of what is happening right now.
"I'm at Starbucks meeting with clients"
"Just closed on a $372,000 home! … (67 comments)

Sex has helped me use Twitter.
Yes...I said sex has helped me use Twitter.
(Do I have your attention yet?)  Ok...good.
For those of you that understand Twitter, use it properly, and have seen it as a benefit in your business...you can pretty much stop reading right now because this is going to simply regurgitate everything you already know (unless you just want a refresher course with a bit of snark).
But, for those of you that have no clue what Twitter can do, have not understood Twitter, are afraid of Twitter, don't know how to effectively use Twitter, or see … (71 comments)

social media: Social Media -- Numbers Dont Lie! - 03/09/09 01:31 PM
The world needs another blog about how important it is for agents to build and maintain a positive social media presence like Eskimos need ice.
But, I'm a big fan of technology.  I figure anything that is out there that can help me do my job better, more efficiently, and with less effort on my behalf has to be a good thing.  Plus, I'm a numbers junkie.  Numbers and statistics to me are undeniable proof that certain truths exist.
And, I guess I'm not the only one that feels that way.
The 2008 Use of Technology Survey tracks the current trends … (87 comments)

social media: You're Not Doing It Wrong...I'm Just Doing It Different! - 01/20/09 09:15 AM
This one a little different for me...
As you all know by now, Im a Twitter-a-holic.  And, by being such, I have developed relationships with some of the best agents around the country.  I currently interact online with nearly 700 real estate professionals in all walks of the industry.
One of the people I interact with regularly is a wonderful young woman in Fredericksburg, VA, by the name of Sarah Stelmok.  Sarah is a wonderful person, a consummate professional, a continuing education trainer, and a dang good blogger.  (She is also currently taking referrals from www.recr.com in several areas...which means I like her … (27 comments)
