social networking: Confessions of a Tweetaholic! - 09/15/09 07:29 AM
Ok...I have a confession to make: I am a Tweetaholic.
More than that, I'm a BAD Tweetaholic.  I don't mean that I'm highly addicted to social networking (although that is certainly true).  I mean that I am guilty of using Twitter incorrectly.
Yup.  I'm a bad tweeter.
Twitter was originally designed as a micro-blog - a short snip-it of what is occurring in your life at this exact moment stylized in 140 characters or less.  So...nothing worth of a full-blown blog...but, a snapshot of what is happening right now.
"I'm at Starbucks meeting with clients"
"Just closed on a $372,000 home! … (67 comments)

social networking: 6 Ways To Soften Your “Hard-Sell” Approach - 02/17/09 09:38 AM
I have been involved in sales for the better part of 20+ years.  I've sold everything from advertising to insurance and have set sales records in the process.  But, I never really tried to sell anything.  What I tried to do was show people that what I had to offer to them was of value and explain to them how it can help them.  And, that style hasn't let me down even today.

There are a couple of similar reasons that keep showing up from everyone that I mention this concept to...and these myths appear to keep them from moving forward … (7 comments)

social networking: Web 2.0 Meets The Ice Cream Social (Network Your Network) - 05/15/08 01:45 PM

Let's face it, unless you have been living under a rock, you have some idea of what Web 2.0 and the power of social networking can do for your bottom line as well as your exposure on the net.
Social networking sites are springing up all over the place -- and there are far too many to name individually -- ranging from the norm (www.myspace.com, www.facebook.com) to very specialized social networking sites like www.classmates.com and www.rivals.com.  Many of us have profiles on some site like this...many of us use LinkedIn.  Many of us have blogs we post to frequently, whether … (9 comments)

social networking: Social Networking, Web 2.0, Blogging and Real Estate - 02/20/08 08:34 AM
This is an excellent article on real estate agents and all the latest buzz-words to do with internet marketing (blogging, social networking, web 2.0, etc.). Basically, it doesn't matter how many of the latest whiz-bang technologies you employ -- none of them should be a selling or service substitute.
Remember the reason why you're in the real estate business. Look at new technologies as tools to help you sell, but not to do the selling for you. This section of the article, in particular, stood out at me:
Concentrate on the basics, right now!Because folks, you can be sure that Internet buyers don't … (4 comments)
