A lot of you guys know that I grew up in a really small town...  
Now, "small" is a bit of a relative term...Im talking SMALL.  Like, less than 1,000 people.  There were 29 kids in my graduating class...That type of small.  
If you want to know, its Plains, MT.  ...Tiny little town on Hwy 200 about 75 miles west of Missoula.   
Anyway...I tripped over the following list the other day and nearly hospitalized myself laughing over how true it really is...and I just had to share.You know you are from a small town when...

If you have not had the chance, I highly recommend you do this...
Plan a trip to Western Montana.  While you are here, take a detour through Philipsburg, MT, and then head about 10 miles up the Skalkaho Pass Highway (much more of a paved cattle trail than a highway) to Gem Mountain and do a little sapphire mining!!  Go to www.gemmtn.com to check out their site!
Gem Mountain is one of the only places in the state where you can screen gravel and find your own sapphires, garnets, and rubies.  (Rubies are simply red sapphires, by the way.  Just in case you didnt … (9 comments)
