Florida's main economic drivers, including real estate, rentals and tourism, all showed a marked improvement in June, according to a recent report from the Florida Chamber of Commerce. Employment levels in both commercial and residential real estate grew by 3.2 percent over June 2010 figure. However, contruction jobs fell 1.7 percent from last year. There is also news that some builders have started new construction in South Florida, so those figures may be better soon.

news update: Getting caught with your pants down might be ok in the end - 04/20/11 08:13 AM
This is too strange and funny not to mention.
A soon to be enacted bill to fight back the issues of men wearing their pants down lower then their waists seems to have found an odd work around.

Denim underwear may become all the rage with people who find sagging their pants, which is technical solution to the proposed bill assumed to be passing in the state of Florida. Other states plan to or already have enacted a similar law, so there might be a real sales potential for denim underwear.
Odd enough for you?

Pompano Beach man claims that he copyrighted the famous melody played through out the United States in just about every sporting event. The Charge! melody is now under dispute by the man who claims to have written it, Bobby Kent of Pompano Beach, FL.
If his claim has merit then he could stand to make thousands a year in royalties. More as things unfold...

news update: "It's time to buy again" says Fortune/CNN - 03/29/11 11:44 AM
It's like music to my ears. The conventional wisdom is going back to saying that the best investment on the market is REAL ESTATE. According to the article noted below there is going to be a shortage of homes because of the prolonged lack of building referred to an "extraordinary reversal of the new-home glut that helped sink prices".
I found this to be a great article about the current state and future of real esate, but don't just take my word for it. See http://finance.fortune.cnn.com/2011/03/28/real-estate-its-time-to-buy-again/
