Last night I was watching the ABC World News with Diane Sawyer, catching up on the usual tidbits - the oil spill, the hurricane, and the Russian spy case. As a kid who grew up in the 70s/80s and someone who has been to Russia several times, I'm interested in this sort of stuff. Lucky for me, although I have, this story isn't about me. I'm involved, but I didn't hit send too quick. I've been involved in negotiations for my buyer this week and today, I received an email from the listing agent about our last counter offer. It was yet another counter. Reading the email, I noticed it continued on past the agent's signature. What did I find? Communications between the sellers and their agent. Private, confidential conversations. We all get calls. We hope they're good ones.Since becoming a Realtor®, my phone rings daily. When I pick it up, I hope there's a friendly buyer or seller on the other end, eager to discuss their next move in the word of real estate, but the reality is that they are often sales calls from this or that company looking to sell me the latest and greatest real estate-based product.Most of the time I let them get through a bit of their pitch to tell them I'm not interested. I'm old enough to wonder "what's with kids these days?"
I'm not really that old, I'm 36 the day I write this post (imagine when I'm 50 and go back and read this one!), and I've never felt all that old. Sure I've got gray hair on my head, my reflexes aren't what they used to be, and I sometimes feel like a character in "Grumpy Old Men," but overall, I consider myself very young. Recently I wrote a post on AgentGenius entitled "An Open Letter to New Agents..." and I enjoyed the thought of it.
