agents: Spies Like Us: Alleged Russian spy was ActiveRain member. - 06/30/10 10:49 AM
Did I just see what I thought I saw?
Last night I was watching the ABC World News with Diane Sawyer, catching up on the usual tidbits - the oil spill, the hurricane, and the Russian spy case.  As a kid who grew up in the 70s/80s and someone who has been to Russia several times, I'm interested in this sort of stuff.  I actually had a former KGB agent as a bodyguard while traveling through Russia and saw the changes in Russia between my visits there, so you can imagine how fascinated I am with the Cold War tensions between … (80 comments)

agents: I hate Tom Ferry. - My Life! By Design. - 04/20/10 06:25 AM
The answers are there, you just need to find them.I read through the excerpts of Tom Ferry's latest book, "Life! By Design: 6 Steps to an Extraordinary You" (Amazon affiliate link) with great interest.  I've been following Tom on Twitter for quite awhile and have found him to be insightful, funny, and always up for a conversation.  When I arrived at the exercise on page 46, however, I realized how much I hate Tom Ferry. Before anyone gets their knickers in a twist, I don't really hate him.  I'm just mad because he managed to make me think at 5AM and now … (24 comments)

agents: E-mail Communications During Negotiation - Don't Hit Send Too Quick. - 09/02/09 09:52 PM

Ever done something that made you say "Oops"?
Lucky for me, although I have, this story isn't about me.  I'm involved, but I didn't hit send too quick.  I've been involved in negotiations for my buyer this week and today, I received an email from the listing agent about our last counter offer.  It was yet another counter.  Reading the email, I noticed it continued on past the agent's signature.  What did I find?  Communications between the sellers and their agent.  Private, confidential conversations.  I admit, not much was revealed that would be considered … (50 comments)

agents: Predatory Vending - Sales Calls With Teeth - 07/25/09 03:48 PM

We all get calls.  We hope they're good ones.Since becoming a Realtor®, my phone rings daily.  When I pick it up, I hope there's a friendly buyer or seller on the other end, eager to discuss their next move in the word of real estate, but the reality is that they are often sales calls from this or that company looking to sell me the latest and greatest real estate-based product. Most of the time I let them get through a bit of their pitch to tell them I'm not interested.  I'm sure they hate … (10 comments)

agents: Home Stagers: Do You Offer a "Guaranteed to Sell" on your Home Staging Work? - 02/12/09 07:58 PM

I seem to be on a re-blog trend today.
I got involved in this post recently when I happened upon it in the current posts.  I read it and commented.  My comments caused some more comments and the post has now become a very interesting discussion about staging.  I know little about staging, so for me, this has been an exciting series of comments.  Since I know some agents might have skipped over this blog because they didn't think it was something for them, I thought I'd re-blog it and hope that some more agents might join the conversation and … (1 comments)

I'm old enough to wonder "what's with kids these days?"
I'm not really that old, I'm 36 the day I write this post (imagine when I'm 50 and go back and read this one!), and I've never felt all that old.  Sure I've got gray hair on my head, my reflexes aren't what they used to be, and I sometimes feel like a character in "Grumpy Old Men," but overall, I consider myself very young.  It wasn't that long ago that my hair was long and I was flailing about on stage and acting like a … (21 comments)

agents: An Open Letter to Buyers... - 11/06/08 03:49 PM
Recently I wrote a post on AgentGenius entitled "An Open Letter to New Agents..." and I enjoyed the thought of it.  For those of you that don't know me very well, I often use the word "new" when referring to myself.  I'm not afraid of the word like many people seem to be.  I have tons to learn (and always will, no matter how much of an expert I am), so I actually like the tag, because to me, it just means I'm ready for more.  Anyway, after writing it, I thought maybe I would continue in that same vein with … (2 comments)
