Embedding the ActiveRain Contact Page in your signature.
In my recent post about using the ActiveRain contact page, "Ambassador Series: Putting Email Links into Your Blog Posts on ActiveRain., " the idea was to help prevent spam to your email and also integrate the contact page that ActiveRain provides you into your links, to help keep uniformity throughout your ActiveRain blog.  During the comments that followed, Ann Arbor real estate agent Missy Caulk, posted a comment that raised an interesting question.
Because the focus was on linking within an individual blog post and returning the user to the same page they … (9 comments)

ambassador series: Ambassador Series: Soft Connecting With Consumers - 10/27/09 09:50 AM

Talking to the consumer...not at them.
Recently, I had a conversation with a local about their home that resulted in a post about "For Sale By Owner" homes in San Antonio (and beyond).  I was pretty proud of the post as I thought I covered the topic pretty well, but after walking away from the post, I realized something was missing.
The person who had inspired the post would probably never read it.  Sure, we talk on Twitter, but do they really pay attention to my posts?  … (5 comments)

Will you miss me when I'm gone?
You've all heard it before, your blogging needs to be consistent to matter most.  The veterans shout it from the rooftops all day long, yet when you're new to blogging it's hard to see why.  No one's reading your blog anyway, right?  Wrong.  Google is always out there, day and night - reading everything it can get it's hands on.  (Note: when I say "Google" I mean all search engines and not just the mega-giant that I prefer to all others.)  Google never sleeps.
Google does … (18 comments)

ambassador series: Ambassador Series - What is Localism? - 09/23/09 12:28 PM

I love it when a plan comes together.
When I tagged my first post as part of the "Ambassador Series" I thought it was a great idea and a way to collect some of the thoughts of the ActiveRain Ambassadors out there in blog form to help out any new members or those considering joining.  Everyone has to start somewhere and it always helps to have a body of posts and people willing to help you out.
Donna Bigda is the first of the Ambassadors (to my knowledge) to take the idea and use it on her own blog.  As … (1 comments)

ambassador series: Ambassador Series: Being a "Rainmaker" Has Its Privileges - 09/19/09 07:32 AM

Being a "Rainmaker."
As most of you know, being a Rainmaker here at ActiveRain gives you a few privileges.  First, you get a nifty Rainmaker badge under your photo.  Second, you get an outside blog.  Third, you get the ability to post publicly and get all the Google love associated with ActiveRain.  Let's look at that last one.  What is the difference between a "Members Only" and a "Public" post?  Does it make a big difference?
The screenshot above is a great example of why you want to be … (22 comments)

ambassador series: Ambassador Series: Are you a new blogger and feeling unsure? (RE-BLOG) - 08/22/09 09:57 AM

Sheila Moran is my broker.
I love my office and my broker.  We're having a blast and learning a lot from each other.  This is why I switched to RE/MAX Access in Garden Ridge, Texas (no small hike for me).  It's not just one or two of us doing this and working hard.  It's all of us.  We ask questions of each other and learn from each other.  Sheila sums up perfectly what I feel about blogging and why it works, but only if you put as much as you can into it.  Blogging is not a hobby, it's part … (1 comments)

When you wish upon a gold star...
Ahh, the coveted gold star at ActiveRain.  It's a mark of pride, a influx of new readers, commenters, and even points.  It's a good feeling.  My last two posts received a feature and they were about as different as monster trucks and the Grand Canyon.  I've been doing alright in the feature category since coming to ActiveRain, so I thought I'd take a few moments to analyze some of the things I've learned about ActiveRain Featured Posts.
