comments: Why Twitter's One-Click ReTweet Feature Is Absolute Garbage. - 12/03/09 02:13 PM

I'm unhappy with Twitter.
Twitter recently introduced a new feature - a one click retweet feature.  For those that have been using programs like TweetDeck and Seesmic Desktop, this is nothing new.  I've long hoped Twitter would create a one-click feature for retweeting, as I do quite a bit of it on my RErockstar Twitter account.  I use retweets to pass on interesting information, follow up on someone's comment, and share real estate news with my fellow agents and San Antonio locals.
A few days ago, I tried the retweet feature.  I clicked the button and … (14 comments)

comments: Fugazi And Real Estate? New Post At AgentGenius. - 12/02/09 07:39 PM

Welcome to my iPod.
My latest article at AgentGenius covers some musical ground for me.  As a huge fan of Fugazi growing up, I learned a few things from watching them play live.  In a recent situation, I was reminded of how Fugazi reacted to situations in the turbulent late 80s post-hardcore scene.  While they were a rather PC band, the late 80s scene was rather messy and violent at clubs and venues up and down the East Coast.  Being a witness to much of it, I enjoyed Fugazi's fresh take on dealing with differing opinions … (0 comments)

Being a "Rainmaker."
As most of you know, being a Rainmaker here at ActiveRain gives you a few privileges.  First, you get a nifty Rainmaker badge under your photo.  Second, you get an outside blog.  Third, you get the ability to post publicly and get all the Google love associated with ActiveRain.  Let's look at that last one.  What is the difference between a "Members Only" and a "Public" post?  Does it make a big difference?
The screenshot above is a great example of why you want to be … (22 comments)

Blogging can be a great connector.
We all know we can connect with so many people through blogging.  Many of us maintain two, three, even four blogs.  Some people go beyond that and maintain even more.  Then there's Twitter, Facebook, MyBlogLog, ActiveRain, forums, and odd little nooks of the internet that we find ourselves communicating in.  The more you do, the more you're out there in the cyberworld...hopefully connecting, making meaningful relationships, and even generating business.
Vlogging is a connector and can be used in a million ways.
So far, I've used vlogging to speak … (3 comments)

This post is "over the top."
This post will put me at the coveted 100K mark.  Yes, that's right - 100,000 points.  In 193 days (I joined on November 1, 2008), I have accomplished my goal.  My goal wasn't to get 100,000 points, but rather to be an active blogger with an interest in bettering my business.  Sure, I wanted the cool little icon next to my name, but I didn't really concern myself with points.
Let's take a look at the math.
193 days is 27.5714286 weeks.  In a week, ActiveRain will allow you to … (25 comments)

I love food.
I wouldn't call myself a "foodie," but I guess some people would.  I enjoy it all, from hot dogs from a cart to the finest steaks and seafood.  When I discovered the local San Antonio site, Flicks And Food, I submitted an older post reviewing Mela Indian Bar And Grill to their site and it was accepted and posted.  In that time, I spoke to the owner of the site, Robert McGuire, off and on and got to know him.  He encouraged me to comment and write more reviews whenever I had the chance.

comments: Home Stagers: Do You Offer a "Guaranteed to Sell" on your Home Staging Work? - 02/12/09 07:58 PM

I seem to be on a re-blog trend today.
I got involved in this post recently when I happened upon it in the current posts.  I read it and commented.  My comments caused some more comments and the post has now become a very interesting discussion about staging.  I know little about staging, so for me, this has been an exciting series of comments.  Since I know some agents might have skipped over this blog because they didn't think it was something for them, I thought I'd re-blog it and hope that some more agents might join the conversation and … (1 comments)

comments: The Great ActiveRain Interactive Experiment - 12/26/08 09:56 AM

I wrote recently about commenting on blogs and had an idea this morning.
We all love to receive comments and some of us love to read them.  After writing the post, I kept thinking about how commenting on ActiveRain and other blogs I read has benefited me and the others who have started interactive conversations in the comments.  So the title of this post popped into my head.  I had a title, but what was I going to do with it?  I needed to use the title, that much I was certain of, but I had … (14 comments)

Recently I wrote more than normal.
Over the course of two days I wrote a little more than normal.  In those two days, I commented like mad and wrote 4 posts (2 a day) and even re-blogged one I thought more people should see (with permission of course).  I was feeling good about my recent uptick in activity and was even prouder of the content.  In all this good feeling (and flurry of commenting), I found true happiness in blogging.  I knew I liked it, but the sense of accomplishment I felt over those … (22 comments)
