traffic: Think long tail search isn't important? Guess again. - 01/26/10 05:57 AM
It's been quite a few days around here. If you're not a regular reader of my RErockstar.com blog or a resident of San Antonio, you may not know the story of the Hills of Rivermist sinkhole (aka "slope failure"), but it's a story I've been following with great interest and concern. Simply put, we've had a landslide here in San Antonio and it is affecting several homes, residents have been evacuated, and the city of San Antonio and Centex (Pulte) Homes are trying to figure out why it happened and what to do about it. It's a nightmare for the homeowners

traffic: In search of: Information on the First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit - 11/03/09 06:02 AM
image courtesy of Bramus! Numbers don't lie. At the end of last week, I was a bit upset about the information going out about the First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit through Twitter and various blogs, both real estate and news media related. Two of the blog posts I wrote in reaction to the situation, both at RErockstar.com, garnered a bit of attention and created a bit of discussion, but I wanted to see just how much they mattered in a world full of real estate blogs and internet chatter. "First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit NOT Extended Depsite What

traffic: Market Report for San Antonio 78258 - 10/22/09 10:32 AM
San Antonio 78258 The Stone Oak area (78258) has had more trouble than most over the last year. Overbuilding combined with the nightmare that is 281, has allowed this once heralded area of San Antonio to become a little less desirable. Don't get me wrong, plenty of people still love the area, but it isn't talked about in the same revered tones it once was. Median home prices are down over $30,000 since January 2008 and although there is a current trend upwards, this area has quite a way to climb to reach its previous peaks. Inventory may look low on

traffic: Ambassador Series: Google Has A Short Memory - Why Consistency Matters. - 10/20/09 06:08 AM
photo courtesy of Google Analytics and RErockstar.com Will you miss me when I'm gone? You've all heard it before, your blogging needs to be consistent to matter most. The veterans shout it from the rooftops all day long, yet when you're new to blogging it's hard to see why. No one's reading your blog anyway, right? Wrong. Google is always out there, day and night - reading everything it can get it's hands on. (Note: when I say "Google" I mean all search engines and not just the mega-giant that I prefer to all others.) Google never sleeps. Google does

traffic: Better or worse? What would you prefer (consumer opinions welcome)? - 09/02/09 04:38 PM
You know I like to write more than the average blogger. Not that I enjoy writing more, but that I enjoy writing more words than the average blogger. It's an affliction that I was born with and it hasn't gone away. I like to be as in depth as possible and in some cases it may scare away some readers at www.rerockstar.com, but for those that are willing to stick around and bear with me (and there seems to be plenty), I think I often provide a pretty complete picture of the issue at hand. Some call it over-doing it, I

traffic: 31 Days To Build A Better Blog Challenge - Day 28 - 05/04/09 05:37 PM
I love food. I wouldn't call myself a "foodie," but I guess some people would. I enjoy it all, from hot dogs from a cart to the finest steaks and seafood. When I discovered the local San Antonio site, Flicks And Food, I submitted an older post reviewing Mela Indian Bar And Grill to their site and it was accepted and posted. In that time, I spoke to the owner of the site, Robert McGuire, off and on and got to know him. He encouraged me to comment and write more reviews whenever I had the chance. Write a

traffic: San Antonio's Share Of The Economic Stimulus Money - 03/07/09 08:45 AM
I've always had a fascination with highway interchanges. When I first moved to San Antonio, I noticed the lack of them at many key intersections. The highway system here had some problems if you ask me. If there's one thing that San Antonio takes care of though, its our roads. Although the constant construction is a nightmare for those of use who travel on our roads, its better to see progress (even slow progress) being made than none at all. With all the construction, I tend to marvel at the feats of human engineering that are taking place. Ever driven Eastbound

San Antonio Camera Phone. Recently I started uploading some of my random shots of San Antonio taken with my Blackberry to my blog at www.rerockstar.com. I've found it to be a great way to share some of my jaunts around town and the things I see with a little bit of a story behind what I was seeing. There's no real rhyme or reason to the photos, they are just images I saw and thought I'd take a quick snap of. This particular image was taken in my car a few weeks ago as I was heading westbound on

traffic: TxDOT kills the Trans Texas Corridor. - 01/06/09 09:21 PM
photo courtesy of Rich Anderson Six years after the announcement, the Trans-Texas Corridor no longer exists. Well, sort of. There are still plans to build several corridors of toll roads, rail lines, and utility lines, but not under the same plan announced by Governor Rick Perry six years ago. The 50 year plan created in 2002, called for large swathes of privately owned land to be taken up by condemnation proceedings in order to "make way" for the 1,200 foot wide planned route. Approximately 4,000 miles were planned or proposed along I-35 and I-69, but public outcry (especially over the

traffic: A late night question on a friend's blog leads business to me. (or "What ARE-TEC did for me and my business.") - 12/09/08 08:23 PM
It was late at night and I was doing research on other Realtors' blogs. I wanted to learn what made some of the people I admired tick. I decided to randomly search out some blogs of agents I knew via Twitter and read through their work. Learn from them. Get to know what I liked and what I didn't like about their blogs as a consumer, so that I could better structure my site and blog to serve my visitors. I actually do this quite often. When I read through them I try to think like a consumer and
