video: No one is listening to you on Social Media. - 02/18/11 09:17 AM

Or are they?
I had a great conversation with a new friend the other day and it drove home some thoughts and beliefs I already had, but know that many people struggle with when it comes to social media.  If no one connects or responds, are we making an impact?  If no one comments on our blog post, does that mean no one likes it or found value in it?  If a Tweet goes out and no one mentions it ever again, did anyone even read it?
You can read the original post, Social Media: Where is everyone? on my … (14 comments)

video: Thank you for contacting me. - 11/02/10 10:26 PM
Your message has been delivered.
As lightning fast as the internet is, I'm not quite as fast.  I will respond to your message soon.  If you need to contact me immediately, please call or text (210) 646-HOME.
As I give my clients my full, undivided attention I do not answer phone calls or emails during showings or appointments, but leave me a message and I will get back to you as quick as possible.  There is nothing more annoying (in my eyes) than an agent who is yapping into the phone with one client or has their head buried in their … (14 comments)

Email links in your blog posts - want spam?
This morning I happened upon a post by Kathy Nielsen, a home stager in Georgia, about embedding email links into your blog posts.  While her instructional post was dead on and explained step by step how to embed email links into your blog post, I had to leave her a comment.
Back in my rock and roll days, I was also the webmaster for the band's web site which received about a million visitors a month (at our peak, we had several months that topped five million).  Being a webmaster, I … (44 comments)

video: BlogWorld and New Media Expo 2010 - Thanks To Izea and Those That Helped! - 09/28/10 07:30 AM
BlogWorld 2010 - Here I come!
Well, I didn't win first prize in the Izea BlogWorld 2010 Contest (which would have paid for flights and hotel), but I did win a set of full access passes. Although I really had hoped for the full ride, I'm still excited to have won passes and can't wait to get there! If you've never been to BlogWorld and New Media Expo and spend more than fifteen minutes a day online, you should really try and make it. It's a huge event no matter what industry you work in. I also (obviously) recommend stopping by … (5 comments)

video: Can I Do It Two Years In A Row? Help Me Get To BlogWorld and New Media Expo 2010! - 09/20/10 09:41 AM
If you thought I was crazy last year...
BlogWorld and New Media Expo 2010 is fast approaching and while I didn't plan on attending this year, yet another contest has surfaced that gives me a chance to attend.  Izea is offering up passes, airfare, and hotel to this year's event and I want to go!  You may remember last year's contest via Alltop in which I came in second place.  I had a great time at BlogWorld 2009 and learned lots.  This year will be no different, except this year, I want to come in first place.
Part of last year's … (5 comments)

video: In Today's Market, San Antonio asks, "Why Hasn't My House Sold?" - 09/12/10 08:03 AM

Why hasn't my house sold?
It's an all too common question for home sellers these days.  Even in the San Antonio real estate market, there are plenty of homes that just don't seem to be selling.  I saw one listing the other day that had been on the market for two and a half years.  That's a long time to wait.  With all that has happened in the economy and the housing markets, there is (as would be expected) a lot of trepidation and anxiety when listing your San Antonio home for sale.
No one wants to get stuck holding … (9 comments)

video: Update on Sea World San Antonio's Latest Addition - 01/15/10 05:07 AM

Video released.
Now that Takara and her calf have had some time to rest, it looks like they're ready to enjoy their time at Sea World San Antonio.  Like most animals bonding with their mothers, the new calf has a lot to learn and it looks like Takara is ready for the task.  I can't wait to get over to San Antonio and see the latest addition to Sea World.
To the new calf: I welcome you to San Antonio and hope you have a wonderful time in our city.  Although you won't be able to stroll the Riverwalk (and … (18 comments)

Whether you're looking for something to do in San Antonio, to learn a bit about real estate, a new local neighborhood to explore, or a home to buy; the RErockstar YouTube Channel has something for everyone.  As we move into 2010, I plan on using more and more local San Antonio video to provide my readers with more information.  Everyone loves to be able to see what they're reading about and although a picture is still worth a thousand words, video can often give you an even better look.

Frank And Sally Explain Real Estate: Episode 3
THE CONTEST HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO DECEMBER 7TH...PLEASE POST YOUR ENTRIES THIS WEEK!
Wow, did you hear what Tina said?
That's right folks, this is a contest.  I've enjoyed working with the cast for the last few weeks.  Unfortunately (or fortunately as we would say as agents), Sally is a bit busy lately (showing Bob houses and getting Frank ready to find a new home), so she requested some help from me.  We discussed it and thought it would be a lot more fun to let all the ActiveRain members have a … (43 comments)

Frank And Sally Explain Real Estate: Episode 2
Sally is one busy Realtor®.
Thanks to her talk with Frank about the First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit last week, Sally has picked up a new client, Frank's brother Bob.  Bob is looking to purchase a home soon, so he and Sally sit down to chat as Bob has a few questions about home buying.  Sally explains some of the basics in the home buying process and soon they will be off looking at homes for Bob.
Bob has been generous enough to allow us to sit in on his interactions … (5 comments)

Frank And Sally Explain Real Estate: Episode 1
Meet Frank and his agent, Sally.
In trying to come up with a simple breakdown of the First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit, I thought that video would be the answer.  Since I've done a few for the previous tax credit, I wanted to find a new way to use video to explain it all.  Enter Frank and Sally.  In this video, Frank's agent Sally, helps him understand the basics of the First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit.  In the future, Frank and Sally will be providing some much needed help to … (37 comments)

I woke up early...again.
I sat at my computer, checking emails and reading blogs as I usually do while the coffee working its magic.  Once I was fully awake, I began to ponder what I would write today.  Blogging for me is an all day affair - I don't have just one blog to write for, so I tend to write several different posts a day.  As I considered this, I thought about how I write and what time it is when I write it.  I had never thought about it much, but it seemed to … (11 comments)

video: The First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit - How misinformation affects us all. - 10/30/09 12:47 PM

I'm frustrated by what I see.
Imagine what a consumer feels if I'm frustrated.  I work in this industry, so I know what's going on and read up on everything I can.  I spend hours doing research for posts, ideas, and clients.  I actually enjoy that side of real estate and real estate blogging.  When I see misinformation being passed around on things like the First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit recently, it really frustrates me.  Not just because I then have to field questions from my clients and locals in my area who say "but I just read on … (30 comments)

video: Looking for local San Antonio neighborhood information and photos? - 09/06/09 08:41 AM
San Antonio Neighborhood Information At Your Fingertips
San Antonio is a big place, with lots of neighborhoods throughout the city (and plenty on the outskirts of the city that we call "San Antonio," but are technically not part of the city).  Trying to figure out where to live and getting information on local neighborhoods can be a daunting process.  Even as a San Antonio Realtor®, I am constantly discovering new neighborhoods and learning about brand new subdivisions all the time.
In an effort to help buyers, whether they have lived here all their life or are just relocating to our area, … (9 comments)

Introductions are in order.
First, let me introduce everyone that doesn't know him to Mike Mueller.  Mike is (as he says) a "Social Media.ist" - he'd probably never claim to be an "expert" or "guru," but I would definitely vote for him as one of the top social media people who get it, love it, live it, learn it and teach it.  Mike's been invaluable to me as I've been learning new things.  Always one to comment on a new idea I have or tell me how I could improve something I've … (52 comments)

video: Twitter, Social Media, Town Hall Meeting, and ActiveRain Members. What A Day! - 06/18/09 03:18 PM

I'm in a great mood today.
I attended the San Antonio Board Of Realtors® Town Hall meeting today for a special presentation on social media.  I was excited to see so many agents there.  I hope they all took something out of it and will join those of us already out and about in the social media world.  The video will explain why I'm so excited, but I hate to just throw a video up without any text.

Blogging can be a great connector.
We all know we can connect with so many people through blogging.  Many of us maintain two, three, even four blogs.  Some people go beyond that and maintain even more.  Then there's Twitter, Facebook, MyBlogLog, ActiveRain, forums, and odd little nooks of the internet that we find ourselves communicating in.  The more you do, the more you're out there in the cyberworld...hopefully connecting, making meaningful relationships, and even generating business.
Vlogging is a connector and can be used in a million ways.
So far, I've used vlogging to speak … (3 comments)

About the Build A Better Vlog Group:
I just wanted to reiterate - the idea of this group is not to create a dumping ground for your local interest video or listing video.  This is for "face to face" communication and to share ideas and tips on vlogging.  I will remove posts if deemed off-topic.  I hope that everyone will record short videos … (20 comments)
