brainerd lakes real estate: Foreclosure Numbers for 2010 in the Brainerd Lakes area of Minnnesota - 01/28/11 08:44 PM
Foreclosure numbers for 2010 in lakes area counties represent a staggering sum. "The No.1 driver for foreclosure in the state of Minnesota is unemployment and underemployment," said Ed Nelson, marketing and communication manager with St. Paul-based Minnesota Home Ownership Center. "Until we start seeing our unemployment rate drop and stay dropped, we're going to see elevated numbers of foreclosures." In 2010, there were 71,556 pre-foreclosure notices sent to Minnesota families. While not all the foreclosures represent a homestead lost, since reports indicate a rise in second-home foreclosures, the majority are serving as primary homes. In a Seminar at the Greater Lakes

brainerd lakes real estate: Love, Sacrifice and Bravery- Thank you! - 08/21/10 10:52 AM
This video speaks of love, sacrifice and bravery- both for those men and women in our armed forces and those they leave behind. Everyday those serving in our armed forces risk their lives to bring peace and stability to other regions of the world and to ensure that ours is kept here in the USA. They have marketable skills, they have training and educational backgrounds- they are employable- they could pursue an easier job back home, but they sacrifice for you and for me. It costs them, it costs their families and I am so grateful that they willing go

brainerd lakes real estate: Great Truths for Small Children! - 08/16/10 10:24 AM
GREAT TRUTHS THAT LITTLE CHILDREN HAVE LEARNED or will learn at some point: No matter how hard you try, you can't baptize cats. When your Mom is mad at your Dad, don't let her brush your hair. If your sister hits you, don't hit her back. They always catch the second person. Never ask your 3-year old brother to hold a tomato. You can't trust dogs to watch your food. Don't sneeze when someone is cutting your hair. Never hold a Dust-Buster and a cat at the same time. You can't hide

brainerd lakes real estate: Should Everyone Own a Home? - 07/08/10 11:32 AM
To Quote: "The US Government pushes homeownership in the form of the mortgage interest deduction, low mortgage interest rates and Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Most Americans want to own a home, they believe they deserve to own a home and that forces politicians to want the same." As a real estate agent it is my job to help people find and buy the home of their dreams and facilitate the sale and moving on of other dreams. Should everyone buy a home? Does everyone make a good homeowner? If someone can not afford a home or pay for the upkeep,

brainerd lakes real estate: Susan G Komen Workshop for Miss Brainerd Lakes Contestants - 05/06/10 10:33 AM
This week I joined the Miss Brainerd Lakes Scholarship pageant (MAO) contestants and their guests for a workshop on breast cancer. I have a strong family tie to the ugly disease and always am interested in the latest information. A young woman, Rachel, started out the workshop by telling her story. She had a double mastectomy in her 20's, so was a great motivator for these young women to start checking their breast health early on in life and to continue being proactive. Our other speakers found cancer in their 40's and both of them finally ended up with having both

brainerd lakes real estate: Let the 2010 real estate games begin! - 01/28/10 12:51 PM
There seems to be some confusion on housing market statistics and as usual , it all depends on who is paying for the report. In my area of the Brainerd Lakes in Minnesota, the sales of homes under $150,000 is picking up. The median priced range homes have slowed and we are seeing a dip in the luxury home market. With that said - buyers are still buying lake homes on desirable lots, tearing them down and building even bigger and "better". Homes are still selling and people are still buying. It seems that more people are putting their homes

brainerd lakes real estate: Allergies or the Flu - Christmas Misery - 12/30/09 10:25 AM
I am sneezing, coughing and congested. So are other members of my family including those who came home from Florida with me. I feel fine but am tired (probably a lack of sleep). They, however are just miserable and have additional symptoms that I thankfully am not sharing. Fever, chills, thick mucus, aches and a total lack of motivation (so they say). I think that my problems are due to allergies and they have a cold or the flu. If you are wondering about your symptoms here is a great link to About.com that will give you some help in

brainerd lakes real estate: Funerals Are For The Living - 02/02/09 01:48 PM
When the former President Boris Yeltsin of Russia was buried, he had a Russian Orthodox service. This is the first time in over a century that in Russia a deceased head of state was bid a religious farewell. The memorial service was held in central Moscow's Christ the Savior Cathedral and was attended by our former U.S. Presidents George H.W.Bush and Clinton along with dignitaries from many countries. Was the name of Christ spoken-was the plan of Salvation talked through- did those in charge of the religious parts of this service speak truth to the living? Funerals are for the living.

This is the second in the series of quotes to start out your New Year with some wit. brainerd lakes real estate: In My Mother's Kitchen - 09/25/07 10:29 PM
I learned more than how to stuff a turkey or properly dice an onion in my mother's kitchen She hardly ever let me cook (her kitchen), but she let me watch and she talked. She would tell me where this recipe came from and on what special occasion it would have been served. She talked about her mother and how she did things. She talked - I listened and watched. Having an very good visual memory - I learned. (Please don't ask me people's names, I am bad at that.) My mother is now gone, but her recipes live
