property presentation: Looking For A Good Man - 05/07/08 10:11 AM
This has to be one of the best singles ads ever printed. It is reported to have been listed in the Atlanta Journal. SINGLE BLACK FEMALE seeks male companionship, ethnicity unimportant. I'm a very good girl who LOVES to play. I love long walks in the woods, riding in your pickup truck, hunting, camping and fishing trips, cozy winter nights lying by the fire. Candlelight dinners will have me eating out of your hand. I'll be at the front door when you get home from work, wearing only what nature gave me. Call (404) 875-6420 and ask for Daisy, I'll be

A national tour featuring decorated veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan didn't stop at Forest Lake Area High School as planned, after school leaders abruptly canceled the visit. According to the Veterans for Freedom website, the National Heroes Tour "is about supporting our troops, honoring their commitment and rallying the country to complete the missions in Iraq and Afghanistan." Forest Lake High School principal Steve Massey says he canceled the planned appearance by the Vets for Freedom tour at the school because he didn't want politics in the classroom. But the cancellation itself was apparently a response to political

property presentation: Post Your Favorite Comfort Foods - 02/22/08 03:22 PM
I saw a poll that was being conducted for America's favorite foods and thought it would be fun to see how Active Rain members and readers rate their favorites. Food is often closely associated with memories and something may stand out because you ate it on your first date or your Grandmother always served it for Christmas. If you could list the food and then an explanation, (if there is one) then it will probably be easier to understand your choice. Since it is my idea - I will start: Potatoes and gravy - why? I just like it lutefisk and

property presentation: Stagers Have Bed Obsessions - 02/18/08 04:26 PM
That is right and I am telling!! You know I am right and it is time to own up to it. In an editors' meeting for the Real Simple magazine office, there was a discussion on beds. They concluded that: Only 1 in 7 people in the room knew how to make hospital corners (hint - it has nothing to do with pushing patients in the hallways)No one really knew what a neck roll was for nor what you would do with a neck roll ( use has nothing to do with choker necklaces)No one knew if a duvet was the

property presentation: Did I Stool You? - 11/16/07 03:30 PM
This inexpensive little Rubberwood stool would complement just about any style room, it could easily be spray painted black, espresso, or any color you like - I would try a metallic, as we are going into the Holiday season. I always like a little bling here and there. Stools are highly versatile: they can stand in for a side table, use two with glass for a coffee table or elevate a plant. You can sit on them (standing on them is not recommended , ignore those photos) or sit something on them. This one could easily hold a lamp and

property presentation: Hall of Fame for Turena Johnson Lane - 10/12/07 02:06 PM
Congratulations to 1993 Brainerd High School graduate, Turena Johnson Lane, who will be inducted into the Luther College Athletic Hall of Fame . The inductees are honored for their achievements in college sports, professional careers and community leadership. Turena hit the athletic scene in Brainerd after I was done coaching Boys and Girls Cross-County, but I have followed her career since she had and has proven her potential. Among other successes she has been a nine-time All-American, five time National Champion, won the USA Track and Field 20K National Championship in 2005 and the 25K in 2006. She qualified for

property presentation: Proverbs on Credit - 05/23/07 09:25 PM
Proverbs 21:20 A foolish man devours all he has. Proverbs 21:17 He who loves pleasure will become poor. Proverbs 19:20 Listen to advice and accept instruction and in the end you will be wise. Proverbs 19:3 A man's own folly ruins his life, yet his heart rages against the Lord. We live in a money driven society where many are constantly searching for bigger, better, or faster. God is pleased when we are able to wisely accept a lower standard of living rather that to go into debt and live beyond our means . Often the credit is to obtain nonessential things that we believe

property presentation: Parakletos! - 05/22/07 09:54 PM
The original New Testament Greek word parakletos (pronounced in Greek as par-ak-lay-tos), which literally means called to one's side, was used to describe someone who pleaded another's cause, or who helped others by defending or comforting them. In English-language versions of The Bible, parakletos is usually translated as Advocate when referring to Jesus Christ, or either Counselor, Comforter or Helper when referring to the Holy Spirit. by Wayne Blank Read 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. Reading out loud insert your name instead of the words LOVE and IT. In my case that would be - Kathleen is patient, Kathleen is kind, Kathleen does not

property presentation: Ted Mondale Wants to Coach - 05/22/07 09:26 PM
Former Mn State Senator, Ted Mondale,49, plead guilty to a fourth-degree misdemeanor for driving drunk. As a result, he was fined $500.00 plus all court costs, received a year of probation and ordered to do 48 hours of community service work. Mondale wants to coach youth baseball in St. Louis Park, MN. for his service project. I am thinking NOT ! There are lots of recyclables to be sorted or clothing donations to go through and organize for places like the Salvation Army. How about a long stretch of highway litter? He can even wear the orange vest instead of the orange jail

It is about time! The public Minnesota Smoking Ban has finally passed and been signed. Health officials are calling it the most important step for public health in MN in the last 30 years. Minnesota is the 20th state that bans smoking in bars and restaurants - others will follow. Bud Heidgerken , Freeport, is a cafe owner who stands in opposition to the smoking ban. "I for one don't want you putting your nose in my business," he said. "That's my air in the cafe, not yours. If you don't want to come, don't come." As to who owns the air

Nancy Solem-Reisinger at age 45, has recently enlisted in the Army Nurse Corps and volunteered to serve as a nurse in Iraq. She will be leaving behind her regular job as a nurse at the Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center in Duluth, her husband, three sons, and two granddaughters. property presentation: Back to M.A.C. - 04/25/07 12:08 PM
I'm just assuming that most of us home stagers and interior designer types do a little something with our own appearances. Hair done up, try and keep the nails at least tidy and a little makeup to have the WOW factor directed at us. I always think Spackle and paint. For those of you who use the M.A.C. products - they have a little incentive to recycle offered. Once you have used up any 6 M.A.C. items, go to any M.A.C. counter and deposit the empty containers. In return, you get a free tube of lipstick. Since 100% of the retail
