narragansett bay: Warwick Neck boasts Narragansett Bay Views and Marinas - 05/02/11 09:54 AM
Are you thinking of living in Warwick Neck, Rhode Island? Warwick, Rhode Island was settled in 1642. It was considered the first white settlement (meaning other than Indians) on the western side of the Narragansett Bay. Originally it was named Shawomet which means a spring, but then it was changed to Warwick, in honor of the Earl of Warwick. Now, Warwick consists of many villages, one of which has an area called Shawomet, in Conimicut. As you may have guessed, most of Rhode Island names were originally Indian! narragansett bay: Tall Ships Newport Rhode Island - 07/03/07 10:32 AM
Sunday the Tall Ships paraded around Prudence Island passing by the Jamestown Bridge. I was lucky enough to have a front row seat on our good friends boat. Starting out on our trip with mimosas for the ride, we set up on the stern with food and drinks, soaking up the sun. Peggy, our hostess, served a muffaretto, which is like an Italian grinder on French bread with a New Orleans dressing. Delicious! We had left a little early to set anchor in a comfortable spot, from which we had a 360 view of the Jamestown Bridge, Jamestown, Prudence Island,

narragansett bay: Guess the Object in the distance - 08/27/06 12:21 PM
This is a kind of blog back to Gary De Pury and Dimitris Blog. Its a can you guess what this object is floating by my home this am. (If you are from this area, you don't get to play this game, since you already know.) This is not a frequent happening, either. I will probably never see it again. Can you guess? Karen
