Happy Birthday Breckenridge Ski Area!  Today, December 16, 2011 Breckenridge Ski Area Celebrates their 50th Anniversary.  On this day in 1961 the Breckenridge Ski Area opened a Heron Double Chairlift that extended for 6,100 feet, a T-Bar that went for 850 feet and approximately 10-12 acres of terrain.  The Bergenhof was also opened as a restaurant/bar and shelter for those skiing.  The Breckenridge Inn at the south end of town also opened their doors for overnight visitors.  The Breckenridge Ski Area was visited by 17,000 people in its first year of … (3 comments)
