I was reading an article in one of our local newspapers here in Hollister regarding some very positive signs in agriculture….said to be our “Cash Cow” so to speak. With precipitation levels up (almost 10%) this past winter and spring, the harvesting for some crops - such as our famous apricots - was delayed for seven to 10 days. Another fruit crop, cherries, absorbed some damage this year due to the cooler spring as well. Overall, it has been a relatively successful season for the agriculture industry so far in San Benito County.

I was reading an article in one of our local newspapers here in this wonderful town of Hollister that I live in and couldn’t help thinking it to be quite funny. The article states that Officers from the Hollister Police Department will be conducting a drunken driving and driver's license checkpoint on Saturday at an undisclosed location within the city limits between the hours of 7 p.m. and 2:30 a.m.  It’s like the city is warning the locals and is targeting the visitor’s that will be camping and partying over this Holiday weekend…. Oh snap, don’t they all do that?????
