This is big in the Lakes Region, straight out of the NHAR Legislative update

House Bill 383, a comprehensive revision of the Shoreland Protection Act, sought to modify the requirements for maintenance of the waterfront buffer, including the application of chemicals and pesticides, the removal of rocks and stumps, the disturbance of natural ground cover, the creation of view corridors and the maintenance of cleared areas.  NHAR supported those changes, believing that it would lead to a more consistent interpretation of the Shoreland Protection Act.  However, NHAR opposed particular language which would have substantially increased the land that is subject to the jurisdiction of Shoreland Protection Act, as DES is already overburdened.  That portion of the bill was stripped out, and the bill was passed.
