Two of my Favorite Tools...
Aviary is a free photo editor... You can use it on your phone via the app for iPhone or Android, or go to the website aviary.com... The phone app has more features and add ons. I’m a fan of sites like Instagram so I’m always in need of an app that I can use to crop, adjust colors, and occasionally do a few special effects for mood and a little artistic flair.
I use it mostly on my iPhone 6 Plus. I love the fact that there is absolutely no entrapment scenarios. By that I mean, many apps … (13 comments)

marketing: One Hilarious Double Entendre. - 07/06/15 09:03 AM
So, what’s the first thing that comes to mind when you look at the photo? My brain did a quantum leap straight to IKEA!
I was on my way home and ironically just a few blocks from our local IKEA store in Renton when I caught a glimpse of this PT Cruiser convertible in my rearview mirror. At the next intersection it pulled up beside me. It so instantly had my attention from the get go that I looked around to see if there was a film crew. “Maybe it’s a commercial?” I was that convinced.
As I drove by I saw the … (22 comments)

marketing: Halloween is totally on at the University Village! - 10/24/14 09:16 AM
It's Friday! Yay! And it's been a couple of great weeks enjoying October and Autumn in the Pacific Northwest...

I've been to the San Juan Islands, Vancouver Washington, but mostly around the Seattle area in Urban Spaces like Seattle's University Village.

I find these Urban Villages so appealing. They're hip, most of the stores have a Facebook Page, Twitter, Instagram, and I'm having a great time engaging with them and the people that follow.

I love Halloween as a marketing venue... Nothing need be done other than to share the enjoyment of the season. Of all the crazy … (18 comments)

marketing: Title Insurance is Cute - 07/09/10 11:18 AM

Title Insurance is Cute. We all know in the real estate industry just how fascinating title talk is, right? In episode #3, (from: A Look at the Lighter Side of Title) Tim Daniels, Chief Title Officer at The Talon Group in Bellevue, Washington and a rather unusual cast of characters, share a few insights on the subject of easements.

It's cute... enjoy.

marketing: Who's the right REALTOR® for you? - 02/18/10 10:01 AM
Who's the right REALTOR® for you?
I've worked with a lot of them. Some just starting out in their 20's, many in their 40's, most of them in the US are now around 50,* and I know several still at it in their 70's and even 80's. They come from everywhere and every background. Most of them didn't grow up in real estate. They chose it as a second career after doing something else and more often than not they came to real estate because of the entrepreneurial life style and saw it as an avenue to serve their community.

marketing: Ghost Writers? I think not. - 02/15/10 07:21 AM

OK, I have to chime in on this one, but my thoughts are too long for just a comment. Anyway, that is where my blog subjects most often come from, the online conversation.
Don’t miss Jessica Sulliman’s great blog entry: Pay Per Blog is it Kosher
You’ll find a great thread of opinions and conversation…
My answer to Jessica’s question regarding the use of Ghost Writers for your Active Rain blog;
“So, fellow ActiveRainers, what's the word? Kosher or No Good?”
I say, “No Good”, here’s why…
As Nick from DotLoop commented, “After all, a blog is a ‘web … (9 comments)

marketing: Social Media, old school... - 10/11/09 07:38 AM
Social Media, old school... This past couple of months life has been a race with not only a busy work schedule but even busier weekends. One of my oldest friends, Dave Hoskin, called me last week. His voicemail was funny, "I know your really busy and you probably can't go, and you're probably working, but I'm headed up to the Seattle Antiquarian Book Fair this Saturday and thought you'd like to go."  I laughed thinking how typical that message was. Dave and I have been friends for about 40 years. We met when I just started College. We were both in music. … (10 comments)

marketing: Newcastle, WA... Small Town with a Large History. - 06/12/09 10:37 AM
Just east of Seattle, across Lake Washington, nestled in the hills next to Cougar Mountain, south of Bellevue, west of Issaquah, and north of Renton, is the small City of Newcastle, Washington. It’s truly a beautiful area and one of my favorite neighborhoods.

Newcastle incorporated in 1994, but its history goes back 140 years. In the 1870’s it was a thriving coal mining community and soon boasted a population larger than Seattle for a time. My family has roots here.
My grandparents were immigrants. My grandfather George Fabre arrived here in 1912 from France, and Pauline Longville, my grandmother came … (7 comments)

marketing: Where is that first time home buyer? - 05/24/09 01:29 PM
New and old are indispensable partners. They may not like each other, but they don’t do well without each other either… Perhaps it’s time for a refresh.
A good way to touch those that are interested in buying a home for the first time is via a well designed postcard. Postcard marketing is not dead, yet its value and significance has changed dramatically. Myself, I think it got a promotion! Now it can be (once again) rather unique and something special. A well crafted mailing can be very effective (although costly, admitted), especially if it's coordinated with a good online marketing … (8 comments)

marketing: A single bracelet does not jingle... - 05/12/09 04:06 PM
Conversations are markets...
Conversations create community.Communities consist of people participating in conversations.
That's not a new idea or just an internet thing... It all started awhile back...

200 BC... fragment from the Dead Sea Scrolls...
Today, more and more of our conversations take place online and if you ask me (as many a realtor does), "If I do all this internet stuff you're talking about, what's my return on investment?" I don't have an answer to that question. But believe me I do contemplate its possibilities everyday.

marketing: Have Task, Have Tool... - 01/24/09 05:50 AM
A favorite part of my job is finding new internet tools. I’d label my style of discovery a kind of ‘eloquent stumble upon it by chance method’ (pun intended). I spend time researching, but often these days the solution just shows up like magic. Sometimes like a weird (goose-bump creating) synchronicity kind of thing. Truly I benefit from all the generous talent out there in the social networking universe.
My friend and coworker Julie McCullough-Hale describes me to her clients like this; “He’s kind of like our personal Nordstrom shopper for everything internet.” He wanders the web finding the gems and … (11 comments)

marketing: Please address me Mr... or not at all. - 01/19/09 08:24 AM
I live in a Condo. I get mass marketing by the box load. I believe our complex is the mandatory default mass mailing depository for this zip code. I do however receive a lot of great “what to ~ and what not to do” marketing samples and use them all the time in my workshops.
Most often, with real estate pieces, I can tell you at first glance where the design template came from, who did the printing, and the vendor source of the mailing list. I know I’m not your typical consumer target.
A lot of my job focus … (10 comments)
