So, last week I wrote a post about how bad Comic Sans was. I linked my post to a study that accused it of a wide range of font crimes - destroying credibility, making a well-reasoned argument seem unconvincing, casting the writer as less than a serious adult, and perhaps worst of all, earning scorn from the GenX/GenY types. I concluded with a nice little resolution: "this is the last time I'll be using it". Ever since, I've been trying on different fonts. BoingBoing ran an interesting article yesterday about fonts. There was a recent quiz in the New York Times about being an optimist or pessimist in regards to all life on earth being wiped out by killer asteroids. Only the quiz wasn't really about that - it was about the impact of different font styles on people's thinking.
There were five different fonts used in the quiz, and the answers were compared to the fonts in which the questions were asked. The results were interesting.
