There are currently 260 homes for sale -- $600,000 plus -- in  the areas noted above
In these areas  - just two homes over 600k closed during the past month -- one for $650,000 and  one for $680,000.   The Barrington area was slightly stronger with 11 out of 394 listed properties closing during the past month (over 600k).

Ok - I've heard of people walking away from the purchase of their new construction property - but this one is pretty funny.   
Wendy Topkis - the daughter of Vice Chairman and co-founder Bruce Toll of Toll Brothers - informed the company last month that she and her husband "did not intend to make settlement" on a $2.47 million home they had previously agreed to purchase.
Toll Brothers said it intends to pursue its rights under the agreement of sale.   
Toll Brothers said expects a 22 percent decline in home-building revenue for its first fiscal quarter, ending Jan. 31st.

This morning - I attended the Lake Zurich Chamber of Commerce's annual breakfast with the Mayors. Local mayors from Hawthorn Woods, Kildeer, Long Grove, Lake Zurich, North Barrington etc. attended - and gave us their views on how to solve traffic congestion in the area.
Of interest - there was a wide disagreement on whether Route 53 should be extended or not. The mayors for Hawthorn Woods and Kildeer were against extension - claiming that other roads in the area would need to be enhanced first - in order to handle things - whereas the Mayor of Lake Zurich was for … (2 comments)
